    Love all your tutorials. Perfect for young players, begginers, and parents. My 8-year-old just started playing and we are having trouble understanding all the whistles and hand signals of the referee. Could you please make a tutorial on that?

      Check out our Regular Fouls video and the turnovers and exclusions video, those will help out a lot.

    what if your hands are too small to grip the ball and you have no more growing left to do? RIP

    • @Shaquatics
      @Shaquatics  8 лет назад +27

      You can still work your grip strength and work on spreading out your fingers and stretching them. Also, you should work extra hard on your ball handling skills to compensate, you can make it work.

      I would add that there are also different exercises for a better grip, and
      using a smaller sized ball for drills and training also helps a great deal.
      I happen to have a really small 12-year old kid on the team, and he was always dropping the 4-size ball during drills, so after a few weeks i "demoted" him to the 3-size ball (he wasn't very happy to say the least),
      but after about 3 months of training with a smaller ball - his control and feel of the ball got way better - and currently he is able to manage pretty much all the drills with a 4-size ball very nicely - even though that his physical size and hand size remains the same.
      This solution was reasonable to me, and it worked very well.
      So i thought i'd share.
      Best of luck with your training!

    trying to learn better with the game and these videos seem to help me, I looked into playing water polo better because we lost to a team today that we haven't lost to in 80 years. So it seems like we need some improvement and if i can learn the game better i can understand what goes on, and how to correct that situation. *Subscribed

    I have grown to always picking up the ball on top, and it annoys my coaches but i don't know why really. Is there a penalty or mistakes people who pick it up on top often make? I know it take more time to pick it up on top and flip your hand over but I just do it because when defense it near me they can just pick the ball on top themselves or when I put my hand under the water to grab underneath the ball, its just so much quicker, again, for them to grab it on top.

    • @Shaquatics
      @Shaquatics  9 лет назад +2

      For a beginner player starting out, you always want to pick the ball up underneath. If you start out picking it up on top then you never develop the skill to pick it up underneath. Sometimes during a game you will need to pick it up underneath, and sometimes on top, but you need to be able to do both. Second, younger players who pick it up on top develop bad habits like using the ball as a floatation device, or starting on top of the ball and rolling it over which is just a waste of time. Walk before you run, learn to pick the ball up underneath really well, then as you get better and stronger, mix in picking it up on top. That's my recommendation.

      Also if you have the ball with your hand on top the opposing player could push your arm down and they will get the ball due to the ball being below water.

      The ball can come out or you can get a ball under

    • @HexenStar
      @HexenStar 6 лет назад

      Coach Farkas is absolutely right, and not only you become significantly more susceptible to "ball under" by a slightly faster kid, but also, judging from what i've seen the kids on my team do - it teaches way less ball control. So i kinda mandate the classic weak-hand-to-strong-hand transition when picking up the ball...

      When you pick it up from the top it's easier for the enemy to take a ball under

    My hands have grown their maximum length and are fairly small. How do I compensate?

    • @Shaquatics
      @Shaquatics  10 лет назад +1

      I would work on your ball handling skills in the water and up against a wall. You have to compensate for smaller hands by having superior ball handling skills. You can also work on your hand strength and ability to palm the ball. Put your good hand under the ball and push the ball fully into your good hand then try to submerge the ball under water. Do that 20 or 30 times each practice.
