Nice job filming and editing. It will only get better from here. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on making it to the Bahamas.
My brother and sister in law did something very similar. They sailed from Sarnia, Ontario and sailed to the Bahamas. They would spend the summers in Vancouver and the winters in Bahamas. They unfortunately lost their sail boat in the last hurricane that hit the Bahamas. I am enjoying your videos. Nice to see you follow your dreams. 👏👏🤟
Great stuff guys! I'm really enjoying following your adventure! Be safe!
Thanks! We’re happy to share! Happy New Year!!
For just getting started and being so new as you say, you are doing a darn good job of story telling, editing and filming. Just keep up the good work
Thank you so much, that means a lot to us☺️
Great video guys. Enjoy the warm weather
Nice to see a young Canadian couple doing this. Your video's flow nicely and audio quite good. I personally like shots of the boat in motion...that's what sailing is about. Fair winds.
Congrats and thanks for sharing! That grinder at 4am!
Yahoooo y’all made it! Great job guys. I’m sure this will not be your last surprise.
Thanks so much and nope, we sure it won’t be haha!
So proud of you! My husband and I have been living aboard for our 3rd year, here in Portsmouth, NH. Our five year plan is to begin our trip to "el caribe". Your videos and comments are helping us learn the ropes before we set sail... enjoy your clear blue water in Bimini. It's cold here... your fellow Canadian, Claudia and her beloved mate, Don! Don't hesitate to get in touch on your leg back should you decide to explore NH and Maine... we have sharks here too!
Thank you, Claudia! How do you find living aboard in the winter months?
We’re glad that you’re finding the content on our channel useful as we understand how much learning and prep there is...CONSTANTLY! Have fun planning! Travis would definitely be into the sharks there haha!
Awesome channel, sorry she got so sick but way to be a trooper through it. She is tougher than me! Your camera really does a great job, the colors were amazing.
Hey guys my husband and I just started following you and we are loving it. We are from Hamilton, Ontario and we hope to try sailing one day like this! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Not too far from where we left from! We used to frequent Hamilton for the sunsets and waterfalls almost on a weekly basis. That’ll be fun to plan for, maybe we’ll see you on the water one day, Happy New Year!
Great vlogs, great adventure, keep smiling
Great job on the details of information. It is very helpful to learn what you are going thou and enjoying life.
Thank you!
Doing a great job for so many firsts. You're my new favourite boating show.
Thanks Eddy, that makes us so happy to hear! 🥰

@@SailingJibsea Yeah! I just got bit by the sailing bug a couple of months ago and also I've been learning to edit video so I know it's a lot of info to take!
Hello from Newfoundland , Canada . Great video's .

Just found your v blog and have watched from the beginning and have to say have noticed an improvement in your presentation over the 15 episodes, you are heading in the right direction so keep up the good work and Stay Safe
Thanks! We very much appreciate that! Happy New Year!
Looking forward to following your adventures.
👍 You guys are doing a great job ! Keep up the good work.
Thanks a bunch!
That pipe crap that you snagged with your anchor was insane. What a bummer to have to deal with that in the middle of the night as you were preparing to leave for a crossing. We have been so lucky so far, knock on wood. A couple of times we picked up brush and an old THICK winter parka that fouled our anchor ay the bottom so that it wouldn't set, but not yet tangled badly in anything like that. Good on ya that you got yourselves clear without needing to hire a diver or something. Bravo Zulu! Grinders are awesome.
Wasn’t it?! The main concern initially was seeing how filthy the anchor was going to be and that was the least of our worries!
A winter parka? That’s a random item to be sitting at the bottom lol. Sounds like you guys had it pretty good so far and hope it stays that way! Happy New Year! 🎆
The parka was bizzare. Usually our Mantus sets RIGHT NOW, but it skittered back 50 feet before digging in. That was when we got to Swansburo this fall, when we got that big wind storm as the remnants of Eta came through. Saw 50kt gusts that next day.
I wasn't happy even though we did back down on it hard so we raised it right away and found that the Mantus had bit right through the parka before finding the clay bottom below, but it took 50 feet of skittering to do that. I was glad we checked it anyhow. Mantus has a really sharp point. But I bet that parka up around the shank wasn't helping the anchor set super deep like it usually does when the wind picks up.
All things considered, I think you guys did a very nice job with this video.👍 Audio issues have been a common occurrence amongst most all the sailing channels that I’ve ever watched ... especially as they were first getting started. So don’t sweat it too much. 😅 I’m sure you guys will get things worked out in due time - just like your fellow Canadians, Searching for C-Shels, were able to do in their most recent video. 👍
Thanks for sharing your journey with us, and enjoy your time in the Bahamas - It’s my favorite place in the world! Maybe I’ll see you over in Spanish Wells sometime this spring 😎
Keep it up, and safe Travels!
I've watched all of your episodes and I'm really enjoying your learning adventures.
Please wear your harness when you work up at the bow in the open ocean, rough seas, and low light.
You 2 are my new favorite channel!!
Wow, thanks!!
Glad RUclips sent me your way. Enjoyed watching. Always awesome to come across a genuine & laid back couple. Keep the cute wetsuit Steph. The look of horror was priceless And Travis...the Aussie accent might need some work mate.🤣 Happy New Year🥳 Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Glad you found us! Just here keeping it real and hoping people like yourself appreciate that! 🤣🤣 yes the accent sure needs some work! Happy New Year!
Growing quick yall! Nice work and lovely video.
Thank you! Congrats on 12k 🎉
Love the video , beautiful people doing beautiful things. ❤🍺
Thank you, cheers!
Happy New Years from Barrie Ontario Canada! Just became a Patreon! Your videos are great!! Ginger gravol and the sea sick bands for Steph and Travis needs a zoo of his own! Lol
Thanks Sandra! Happy New Year!🎊 Thanks again for all your support, it means so much to us !we sent you a little message in patreon as well :)
Travis, you're the greatest!! A spirit like no other and the nicest guy I've yet to meet. Have a blast in the Bahamas brother!! Where are you guys going next? If you're ship wrecked at the Atlantis, the bridge sweet is only 25k US a night. Hear that Patreons??
Crossing the Gulf Stream is best done after the wind has clocked around to blow from the south for at least 1 day prior to departure and forecast to last at least 2 more days from the same direction... The wind out of the South lays down the serious waves and makes for a very pleasant crossing... speeds things up considerably, too.
Awesome you got there safe! Travis, exhaust all other ways (other than hacksaw or grinder...) to get that pipe/cable out of the anchor chain. You never know when that cable maybe carry electricity or perhaps carrying data somewhere. Great videos! I really enjoy you guys!
Thanks! And Yep 100% agree with you but I saw through the pipe because there was a hole and was able to see that there was nothing inside fortunately!
@@SailingJibsea Great!
Have a Happy and Awesome New Year!
Happy new year!
Very cool on making it to the Bahamas! I sail the Great Lake and have been to RCYC several time so I am familiar with where you started
LOL Keep going. There’ll be rougher days. You’ll be okay.
New subscriber. I've enjoyed your videos and will be watching more and good luck with your great adventure.
Hey there! We’re so happy to hear that. Thank you 😊
I really enjoy your channel. Looking forward to seeing more of the islands.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !🥳
Yes, Post everything you learn...because as soon as I rebuild my diesel (blown head gasket🙄), I'll be following you down from the Mayport/Jacksonville FL area...
...even the little things... like the "Standard Procedures" with the yellow quarantine flag and the country flag flown on the starboard side ...I watch 3 or 4 other sail couples...nobody's ever bothered to mention those "little details" I guess they presume everybody knows.🙄😛
Happy New Year!
Glad to share with ya! Hope to see you out there some day
We thought little things like that would be useful to the everyday person, because heck, we didn’t even know little things like that a few months ago! 😂
15 years ago when I first began running my boat from Jacksonville to the Abacos I bought Cruising Guide to Abaco by Steve Dodge. It’s excellent and I consider it an indispensable resource, especially for newbies. I even bought the updated versions every year, even though that’s not absolutely necessary. I know of no quicker or more thorough way to become well prepared for cruising the Abacos.
Happy New Year! God bless you both.
Happy New Year Harry! 🎆
Great video. Keep it going.
The patches work best if you apply them at least 4 hours before you are in conditions that cause motion sickness. Most that I know that use them tend to apply them the day before to ensure the meds are in their system.
I'm a new subscriber. Happy blessed new year. Much love guys.
Hey! Amazing, Happy new year!
Good job guys, enjoying!
Thank you!
Glad to hear of safe passage 👍 weather looks great compared to cold rainy STL Mo. I have a notebook with about 75 sailing channels in it and Your my favorite "Newbies" ✌️💜🎸
Haha hey glad to have made the book!!
Just throw the pipe back in the water for the next guy to get tangled up on. Very thoughtful of you
Yeah, that must be exactly what our intent was....
In getting ourselves untangled, the pipe was cut to pieces and in doing so, others likely won’t get tangled. Wish we could have but our circumstances didn’t make it plausible for us to try to haul those pieces on our own and transport them to a proper disposal site. Can provide the coordinates if anyone is really that concerned. Maybe the city can get rid of all their pipes in the channel to avoid anyone from getting tangled...
I had a similar experience with Scopolomine. After being incapacitated on a 3 day voyage - constantly throwing up to the point of throwing up blood and not being able to eat or drink for the entire time, I was admitted to a hospital via the ER with pretty bad dehydration and a diagnosis of an allergic reaction to Scopolomine. Thankfully, I had a good crew on the boat and we arrived safely.
Oh man that sounds just awful!
Wow y'all are starting to roll on subscribership Happy to be pre 5k. Happy New Year 2021 is going to be epic!!
Thanks Tom! Happy New Year!🎊
Happy New Year guys from Kitchener Ontario!
Glad to see you made it. Gloves are essential on a boat; cleaning the bottom, hauling anchor chain, and landing fish will all expose your hands to danger that is far too severe to risk. Small cuts on your hands lead to infections that can be debilitating. Also, for offshore passages, please get the dinghy off your transom and lash it to the deck somewhere; I’ve had one break loose in stormy conditions offshore and I can absolutely say that one of the most dangerous and stupid things I’ve done is leaning over the stern trying to resecure the dingy in 12-14’ seas. Over years as a captain, I can absolutely say that scopolamine patches work better than anything, but they have to be applied correctly and 8-12 hours in advance. We all started out as novices, so keep doing it-it’s the only way you’ll learn!
Thanks! Gloves are definitely on the list. We have thought of removing the dinghy off the transom for longer passages. We can imagine how crazy resecuring it would be in such waves! Looks like the patches used were not scopolamine and rather an over the counter patch made from herbal ingredients. The directions indicates to apply 10 minutes before only - in any case, these ones didn’t work!
@@SailingJibsea I was wondering if that was scopolamine. I was once capt. of a 92’ motor yacht, had to drive from the fly bridge from Staniel Cay to Georgetown because one guest couldn’t stay indoors due to seasickness. It was 5-6’ seas on the bow, so not so rough, but wet. Found out she had gotten the patch, but didn’t want to use it for fear of the side-effects. I insisted that I wouldn’t leave dock for the return trip unless she put on the patch. The trip back was 7-8’ seas on the stern quarter giving the boat a strong corkscrew roll. She insisted that the seas weren’t anywhere near as rough (the whole crew fought down the urge to laugh at that comment because, on a discomfort scale, the motion was twice as bad) and even went below for a tea.
Just one word of caution, DO NOT cut the patch in half. One guest did that-thinking that she was relatively small and didn’t need a full dose-and ended up having severe side effects, as the scopolamine seeped out of the cut side and gave her an unmetered dose of the stuff.
Hi Travis & Stephie, greetings from Pier D Port Credit Thank you for the plexiglass etc. I discovered your YT channel by Shane & Nathalie and Paul ... All of our Pier D neighbors are now your fanatic fans Congratulations on the videos and GOOD WIND
Hey! Sorry we didn’t get a chance to chat more before we left - it was such a big rush to leave! Hopefully the plexiglass came in handy for ya. And we’re glad you guys are watching and following the adventure! Happy New Year to you all
Great video
Awesome shows guys. Happy new year, Myth busters did an episode on motion sickness and found ginger worked, so try some ginger tea or slices of ginger. good luck,
My wife and I showing our love all the way from Nassau Bahamas!!!
Thank you!!
Hi Travis and Steph. Met you in Kingston in August. Craig sent me your link yesterday. Mark and I are happy to see you two are off! so exciting.
Hey Joan! Hope you guys are doing well and had a great holidays. Yes we made it! We didn’t expect to be able to cross the border but fortunately got through. We don’t have phones for calling (data only) so can you please let Betty know we’re thinking of her and hope she’s doing well. Will give her a call once we are able. 😊
Audio seems to be the last thing cruisers sort out. But, having watched a ton of sailing channels on here, you guys are doing really good overall (at this point). I just started binge watching Jib Sea - looking forward to catching up.
Watching from Vancouver, BC. Great videos. Wish I was there.
Travis is from Vancouver and I know he’s missing him some mountains! happy new year!
@@SailingJibsea cool. Exciting. Yes we had a dump of snow it rained. it melted etc etc. The usual stuff. Perhaps we’ll see you sailing up to Vancouver at some point after a journey through the Pacific.
Just found you. Enjoyed watching. Keep it up!
⛵ Safe sailing. Stay well and happy.
I've done a fair amount of diving off Bimini. Yes, there are plenty of sharks. Greys, Black Tips, Nurse, Lemon, etc. No issues on SCUBA.
Lol, could have used that sea sponge on your Mike. Glad you made the crossing safely. Happy new year.
Haha, happy new year !
Nice video
You all did good! Toronto to Bimini is a haul and you all made it! Your editing is fine and you’re only going to get better the more sailing you do! Don’t know how to fix that seasickness but you seem to deal with it the best ya can.
Thank you for the kind words! When we look on the map from the start til now, we just think, dang that’s far! Happy New Year!
Cheers guys from south Louisiana
Geaux Tigers , Saints and UL Cajuns...
For sea sickness - try listening to music from ipod with ear buds in both ears....it works for lots of people. I have a cast iron stomach, but 3-4 offshore female friends truly swear by this....and I've seen the difference it makes for them on passages.
Hello from Jomtien beach, Thailand. You should visit Thailand someday when all this craziness is over - probably a year or 2 I suspect. You make a good couple - best wishes and stay safe.
Hey guys, just discovered your channel and binge watched it. I'm happy that towards the newer videos everything started to feel less forced: From a random out of the blue first video "We are handsome people doing an instagram themed sailing channel for profits" turned into you just being yourself in front of the camera (for as far as that is possible). I do miss the documentation of the boat purchase and refit, these and the technical jobs are what we always enjoy most to watch. You have some timelapses and pictures, maybe scramble together what you have and make it into an episode, fill it up with you introducing yourself properly (who you are, what your experiences are, what profession you had/have and so on. It will help people (like us) engage more, as it becomes less of a show and more of a story then :)
Amazing that you found us!
Thanks for the suggestions, we have some ideas in the works so stay tuned!
The Sapona is awesome. Lies in about 15 feet and is surrounded by more fish then you can imagine
