      Honestly, I think it would be fine if they had a few more split datasheets. Things like Sniper Scouts having their own datasheet should be more common.

    Anyone else think Cadian Shock should have Born Soldiers baked in, or only get Born soldiers if they move? It would help incentivize pushing with infantry and make you use them as shock infantry

      @@MinscS2 Yes. They get scout 6 and a hefty melee bonus. Cadians, by comparison, get better special weapon options and an ability in Shock Troops which, in many cases, doesn't do anything. Flamers are still decent, but the Cadians are completely outclassed by Infantry Platoons and Death Korps of Krieg, so I'd say atleast Catachan have a niche.

      No. Born Soldiers being a detachment means that ability would be useless in the other detachments when the codex comes out. I get that the cadians have a weird rule (it'd be better as a rule for Armageddon Steel Legion), but tying them to one detachment ain't the answer.

      I read the rule as 2d6 Within 6 inches of the center of marker and roll for each unit its gonna scare some rabbits but I find some uses especially when I target the center of the board and tell him to te.ot the target

    Someone mentioned that Element Games Tournaments (I think?) allow Creed to use her ability on reinforcements since the unit “dies” but isn’t removed before it’s ability triggers, similar to how a model “dies” but stays on the field to check if deadly demise goes off”

      That’s the one that is like $150 just for that one tank, right?!? How much bigger is it to other tanks? And you said it’s hard to take down. So in your opinion, do you think it’s worth the money so you can add it to your army?

      ​@@ryankyle2467 its a lot bigger (8" long). I think one baneblade is probably worth it but I would magnetize it to swap out the variants. although i think the doomhammer is the best variant currently. because its cheap compared to other variants, its main gun does MASSIVE damage, and it has transport capacity for carrying heavy weapon teams with lascannons.

      It’s a fun concept but you know what they say about putting all your eggs in one house sized basket. Also a big bummer that there’s a 95% chance firing deck doesn’t work on overwatch

    For the 200 pts i think the valkyrie should be a 21 model transport. it's a very spacious interior. It would fill a niche for transports too.

      Valks have always been a 12 model transport. Would be weird if it suddenly changed.
      Honestly the unit itself isn’t bad. It’s just the absolutely ridiculous price tag for what’s effectively a heavy weapons squad duct taped to a flying chimera that’s holding it back.
      I’ve used them in some preliminary 10th edition games and they’re quite durable, and their mobility is very useful when it comes to hitting back line and far away objectives, especially with a cargo of scions or Kasrkin. But again, that point cost just hurts. 150 pts is more worth what they bring to the table.

    I find green being low tier and red high tier on the thumbnail / chart confusing, does anyone else find this?
    I sort of see red as power and danger, but I'm too conditioned by traffic lights to think red means keep away and green is go. If seen from the opponent's view I suppose it makes sense. Attack the low tiers, stay away from the high tiers.

    None of guard artillery was causing issues that caused the nerf. That was eldar and space marines. And they're still a problem.

    hows an earthshaker battery only 80 points and a manticore is 125 points but field ordnance batteries are 120 points? field ordnance batteries are horribly overcosted.

    Honestly I’ve been trying to make guard work I love the demolishes but it’s 20pts more expensive than a custodes tank that is farrrrrrrrr better with an invul …. Dosnt make much sense

    Personally I love Kasrkin and use them as one of the teeth units of my army. Admittedly a bit of an investment but a Kasrkin Squad with 2x HS Volley Guns, 2x Plasma Guns and an attached Castellan can put out a lot of MEQ mulching dakka for 170 points. Putting them in a Taurox is pricy at 235 but worth it with how the rules stack.
    1.) Kasrkin have Scout 6" which can either apply to them or their dedicated transport, giving the Taurox a turn one movement potential of 18". Combine that with the Kasrkin's native 6" movement and you've got a potential for a 24" movement range with the Kasrkin, while the Taurox's Rapid Deployment lets the Kasrkin move and shoot as normal in the same turn they've disembarked, letting them put out a goodly amount of firepower as detailed below, especially if you can get the Kasrkin into cover or on a building. Depending on how small your map size is, the Taurox can then fire it's guns into an advancing enemy unit (the shooting isn't great but it's not terrible. Think of it as a bonus), then charge into the opponent's units to tie them up in close combat or be in a position to do that the next turn. Don't expect the Taurox to really survive but if you get lucky, you can use it to tie up an enemy ranged anti-armor or anti-infantry unit with poor melee in melee for awhile. Then finish it off with Deadly Demise D3.
    2.) Unless I've misread the wording or misunderstand how the rules interact (very possible given how I generally only play casual narrative games with friends), Kasrkin's Warrior Elite ability allows them to chose in the command phase to just have an order that affects them natively, for free, for the duration of that turn. I personally always choose "Take Aim!" to make them go from a BS 3+ to a 2+. This stacks with the Cadian Castellan, who can then order them to use "FRFSRF", resulting in a massive output from the (using base profile here for each weapon so add 1 to Rapid Fire) Rapid Fire 1 HS Lasgun, Rapid Fire 2 HS Volley Gun (which is just a straight upgrade to the HS Lasgun), and Rapid Fire 1 Plasma Gun.
    The Cadian Castellan grants the Kasrkin Sustained Hits 1 to make their shooting hurt all the more. Additionally, since getting the full use out of the above requires you to be within 12" (the Rapid Fire range for Plasma Guns and HS Lasguns, though that also lets your two Plasma Pistols contribute), you're likely to get charged if only to tie up the unit from shooting again. You'll have two power swords in the fight (one from the Sergeant and one from the Castellan) and then the Castellan grants you Get Back Into The Fight, which will allow the Kasrkin unit to fall back out of melee and then shoot again in that same turn.
    3.) The HS Marksman Rifle is generally not worth it in this setup, as it requires you to give up yet another HS Lasgun which reduces your rapid fire output, plus it's only alright as a character hunter in my experience. It is however a very nice model and I've been using it to proxy a Vindicaire for my own amusement. Also for added giggles, mark the target with a Scout Sentinel beforehand to reroll hits of one while shooting with a BS 2+ unit (either natively with the Vindicaire or with the Kasrkin's Warrior Elite).
    Definitely check with your fellow players to get a second opinion, as I am not a tournament player. It's a very "Death or Glory" strategy but it amuses me immensely. In a 1200 points list (narrative with RP expansion, though you could probably pull this off in a 1000 point list) I bring two and cackle maniacally. It's not points efficient but it's fun. Add two infantry squads for backline objectives and HWT support (I do missiles but I'm also doing a narrative theme for my army, also 65 points each), a pair of scout sentinels for marking targets with Daring Recon (50 points each, plus you may as well bring Lascannons), a Manticore for indirect fire that can ignore the indirect penalty as long as they shoot at units marked with Daring Recon (though be aware that the Manticore's Furious Barrage Ability, which lets you reroll hits on a unit of five models or more, does not stack with Daring Recon's ability to reroll ones to hit or a command point reroll), a Vindicaire and a tank commander (not super great, bring the Demolisher Cannon as you're inherently paying for it anyways, though an Exterminator Autocannon is not a bad second choice) to get an army that is a lot of fun to play and has about 55 points left over to play around with.

      Only issue I see with them is the total lack of re-rolls except for scout sentinels whereas scions can get full re-rolls quite easily with a taurox prime and have access to deepstrike which opens up objective play that guard desperately lacks
      also the fact that they can't receive orders while embarked and can't even use their warrior elite ability is a massive bummer since that means you have to be vulnerable to use them, and at the end of the day they are just guardsman with a bit more armor for a very expensive price

    I've had really good fun with Strakachan squads so far, have caught my opponents off guard many times so far. If you pair them with a transport, you can propel them into your opponents backline squishy support units by Turn 2 or 3, if you get the charges/consolidations off.

    The Ogryn Bodyguard is actually not bad if you're facing a lot of Precision in your meta as Guard commanders are super important.

    I think rapier laser destroyers are tier 1, 30 pts for 2 twink linked lascannon shots is amazing. They also have attillery keyword so benefit a lot from the overlapped buffs and can be taken in squads of 3 to make good use of take aim

    I have found the Stormblade to become a strong pick in my lists for its potency in overwatch and its lowest points cost of all baneblade variants. The sustained hits on 4 twin linked heavy bolters is superb, the re-roll all hits on the main gun within 24" for some added reliability of landing a few 6's is also not to be underestimated. For 1 CP I have picked up 4 terminators in a game, withered plenty of infantry in others.

      we're overcosted AND underpowered. 4+ on everything with very little way to boost that on tanks especially hurts, we struggle to kill things with direct fire.

    After points changes and the meta settling on heavy infantry and tanks I think this is relatively accurate. I would say TC and most Russ chassis are now quite good and the infantry is off though.

    I think only the marshal and the castellan can even fit inside the chimera to use its ability, with its capacity and the requirements of platoon command squads and leader attachments.

    I would like to say that since chimeras have firing deck 2 currently. You could potentially use a heavy weapons squad to convert it into a knock off razorback. Could be funny if nothing else.

    You’re missing the sauce that is the fliers both the voss pattern lightning and the avenger striker fighter are both pretty tanky for how much they cost and pack a punch (even more with the buffs from lord Solar and or the attaches) and they score engage on all fronts which if you’re doing fixed (which I think it’s the play for guard) it’s just really consistent with scions and the gaunts ghosts I’m personally running 3 of each and having some pretty good success with it

    Hello definitely for sure fellow Astra Militarum friends. I am definitely not a Genestealers Cultist here to steal some new units.
    On a serious note, there's something I've been wondering for this edition. Can a Guard vehicle with a transport capacity carry GSC infantry in it? Or can it strictly only still carry Guard models?

    The executioner's special rule should be reversed. They're meant to be rare and expensive tanks whose crews are known for being foolhardy if not insane. Mopping up battered enemies is the infantry's job.

    The Commissar doesn't autopass a battle shock test unfortunately, he removes battle shock at the beginning of any phase. Because of the timing of this he can't actually be used to quickly flip an objective. He can be used if you suddenly need to use a stratagem on a unit that is battle shocked though.

      Surely if you remove battleshock at the start of the command phase you can flip objectives. They would have to test again though

      If you flip it during your opponents command phase to deny them an objective then that’s alright.
      If you flip it at the start of your command phase then it’s a moot point as you do battle shock tests at the end right before scoring is done.

    I've actually had some real success with servitors. Deep striking them in on the board edges and releasing a mass of Melta fire is super super powerful right now. Took down a full wounds wraith knight in one round of shooting from 2 different squads. They are super good and standout units, I think they should be up towards the top of 3rd tier / bottom of the 2nd tier. Thanks Auspex

    Servitors with plasma cannons as a bodyguard to an enginseer attached to a blob of catachans with either Straken or a priest act as a pretty nasty screening unit - especially when charging or being charged with the order „fix bayonets.“

    I commented on the last video, but can models with the deep strike ability come from reserves on turn one? I’ve been reading the rule book and there’s nothing saying they can’t not come turn one. It only specifies “one of your reinforcements steps”

    IDK think the Deathstrike is a bit better than you're giving it credit for. Maybe not top tier but least T3?
    Area denial fun aside, even if the other guy isn't scared and rolls a single 10 man marine squad into that area. They're all probably gonna die. That's 2D6 hits to everything. Hitting on 2+, wounding everything on 2+, -4ap. Sure it's only 1 damage but if you get hit 5-6 times (avg) nothings gonna make it that isn't a tank. 10 marines are what 200 give or take points? That's a net win.
    Then you get a free 10" move, 3 OC, armored heavy bolter hull to drive around and maybe hit more bullets for you.
    Or with Cadia Shock Troopers "sticky" obj control even if you blast your own squad you still have the obj lol.
    Plus it's kinda fun to take one. I'd almost love to take 3 and see what shenanigans I can get up to.
    Also side note, manticores don't have limited ammo anymore? That's...interesting.

    I hate having to run a stupid named character in every army. I hate naked characters in general as they ruin my immersion but I can tolerate them if they’re not overpowered as hell compared to everything else in the army. Leontus is actually the fucking worst. He’s better than anything else in the army at everything and there’s no reason not to take him, so every guard army has the exact same golden guy on a horse in every engagement. It just destroys any sense of immersion and personal connection to the army for me, as if it was a generic character I could name them, give them a personality etc but instead it’s a super important character in the lore or whatever who just so happens to be in every single minor battle the trillions of guardsmen fight every day? Great. Fuck named characters.

    I'm confused, in an earlier video you praised Nork because you could put a command squad and Nork together in an infantry squad, Nork could stop all the hits with his invulnerability save, if he does take any wounds the medic would be able to heal him to full health. Making him a huge wall to break before the officer or infantry could be harmed. What gives?

    Regimental attaches are auto include for competitive. 40 points! The ordinance is obvious since a competitive list goes heavy on indirect artillery. The fleet guy, whatever. Extra wound on a krieger brick. Astropath! That’s worth 80 points. Stops enemies from deploying 12” from him. If you parking lot the arty. Biggest threat is reserves and deep strike. With astropath and clever deployment it ain’t happening.
    Also servitors are awesome, for the same reason forge world tarantulas are as well. Only 35! Points. If you are just throwing bodies to screen out and defend space, go cheap.
    Need lots of scouts. Solid bricks of Kriegers to move up. A big blob of regular infantry with 2 mortars and Ursula, Sola. That infantry will indirect fire what you want dead. Ursula CP fields of fire. Arty deletes. With cheap tarantulas servitors and astropath back field and main army is secured and safe.
    Kriegers push and hold. Scouts body block midfield while targeting for arty.

    Restarting in 9th with guard was a good decision. Although everyone on the Internet keeps telling me how they aren't strong, I keep tabling my friends. Maybe I need to add more terrain, but yesterday my DKOK with psyker and marshall also killed my friend's Ballistus dreadnought and infernus marines in melee. I'll stick with the guard whether they are strong or weak :-)
    I'm pretty sure you can use Creed's reinforcements on a destroyed unit and apparently it was ruled like this in some UK tournaments. When a unit is destroyed, it can be targeted and then it is taken off the board. Other rules such as deadly demise also involve measuring distances from a destroyed unit, after all. The stratagem is also explicit on that it can be used on a destroyed unit.

      Deadly Demise /specifically/ interrupts the order of actions, though. It has a cutout specifically for allowing its existence. Same for Reinforcements!. Creed's ability, on the other hand, does not.

      Creed's ability targets a unit on the board. At the point of destruction(after resolving things like Deadly Demise), all models are removed and a unit stops being "a target" on the board. So Creed has nothing to target.
      Still, having the ability to bring a fresh unit of Armoured Sentinels for just 2 CP is pretty strong no matter what. And Creed does make it easier to save up points to use this Stratagem.

      @@Khobai I had an Oppressor Rogal, an Exterminator Leman and a Battlecannon Leman. He had some Space Marine captains throwing free armour of contempt left and right. Some apothecary just brought back an terminator every turn. It was like "fields of fire, whittling fire and AP-1 vs AOC + Cover. Effective AP -1. Still a 3 up save."
      I should have taken an Executioner.

      its more because orders dont splash anymore and leman russes dont come in squadrons. theyve deliberately made it too hard to give take aim to leman russes because they want you to buy rogal dorns and baneblades instead. im running a baneblade variant in most lists and it annihilates anything it shoots at.

    Apparantly creed can reinforcement back sentinels since they aren't removed when destroyed and they come back with hunger killers.... not seen any faq on this

      They are no longer "a unit" that can be targeted when destroyed. Just like you cant give them an order to increase their OC or give them an extra 3" movement characteristic when they have all been blown up. So no, Creed cant use Reinforcement Stratagem on them for 0 CP.
      Returned units are considered "new units" though, so they have their "one-shot" and/or "once per battle" ready to go.
      It is already incredible strong on a full unit of Sentinels, even if it costs 2 CP.

      @@bloodraven5533 The way I see it, there are 2 ways about it.
      Either the unit is considered "Destroyed" before rolling for Deadly Demise, or after.
      If it is before, Creed has no target to influence(A destroyed unit has no presence on the board, unless otherwise stated).
      If it is after, Creed cant interrupt the sequence and use Reinforcement Stratagem before the Deadly Demise roll, because Reinforcement requires the unit to be Destroyed, which is not fulfilled yet.
      Otherwise we would have a weird situation like this:
      Enemy has just finished off your last Sentinel. You are about to roll "does it explode".
      It is interrupted by having Creed use her ability to target the Sentinel with the Reinforcement Stratagem, and then you put an entire new unit of sentinels into reserve, while the old unit is still waiting to roll for Deadly Demise.
      That makes no sense to me, as that would require you to have an "extra" model just for this. Potentially several extras, depending on the weapon configuration of the last standing Sentinel.
      Especially if you can do this every Battleround(potentially 4-5 times during a battle).
      And as you said, this is only a possible consideration because Sentinels have a "sub-phase" when they die, due to Deadly Demise. All other regimental units that get destroyed, would not be considered for this interaction.
      Instead, you should simply use Creed to reduce the cost of the 2 CP Field of Fire and obliterate an enemy unit.
      That is already insanely good to do every turn.
      And the points saved can be used for the Reinforcement Stratagem or other Stratagems, if you like.

    You can use abilities even in deep strick or transport, meaning you can order them if the leader is attached to a squad. Kasrkin in Transport can also order themselves.

    SCIONS ALLL THE WAyy I’ve played roughly six 10th edition games now, and the Scion death all is real. As it stands 5 wins 1 loss. The key armor and Scions. 2 identical death balls.
    Command squad(with medipak) attached to 10 man with tech priest so you get 5+ invuln and 6+ feel no pain. Then drop em in and devastate.

      Astra Militarum is spoiled for choice compared to many other lists. They have some really good cheap stuff and some really good expensive pieces as well. And quite a few specialists for specific playstyles.

      doesn't make the fact that the the things that win guard the game ( frontline armor and to a lesser extent artillery ) are wayyyyy overcosted right now
      to win at 40k you either have to be tanky enough to contest objective or fast and deadly enough to blow someone off of it and take it, both of which guard struggle at currently

      But as I said, most of them do not have the diversity of the Astra Militarum.
      Some of the other factions do not even have reasonable artillery options, or their anti-vehicle options are extremely limited.
      As the meta change and things get balanced out, the Guard can adapt. A lot of other factions do not really have that luxury.

    I have to strongly disagree about the rogal dorn. It is the worst vehicle in the army. Zeroing out 1 attack means practically nothing unless a hammerhead shot you. It's 40 points too expensive. It's overcosted to a point that you need to drop something critical to take it.

      The rules for them are free on the app and online. They aren't shit at all, they have some very solid units but they require good knowledge of the army and game and understanding of synergies with list building.
      You just have to keep track of a lot and make sure you are force multiplying with Orders, Stratagems and unit abilities.
      If you only look at Guards Data Cards then yh ofc they'll look shit. Until you figure out you can make Basilisks hit on 2's + 2's Sustained 1, Lethal 1 etc etc
