Hey everyone, just a quick update about the car. The tape is still going strong. I haven't rechanged the tape at all within the last couple years. I didn't expect it to last this long but somehow it still is in perfect condition. I also live on a dirt road so I'm really surprised that it's still not showing any signs of wear. People taking this video seriously got me rolling 😂. You guys were right tho, it didn't last a full year, it lasted almost 3 and it still has a couple years to go! I'll make sure to give another update in another two years.

This is the video I was looking for! I bought an old van with rust holes below the sliding doors--and was told that those spots were "too far gone" to repair. That's when I I started brainstorming--and came up with the idea of using black DUCT TAPE! It made me chuckle to see that I was not the first crazy person to consider it! Thank you for posting!

Did ya use gorilla duct tape? I would have also gorila glued the back of the tape to make sure it wont fall off. How long did the tape last?

lol Actually if he slapped some bondo on top of that foam sanded then just Sprayed or rolled some rhino liner all the way around the bottom of the car it would have came out pretty good

I hate sanding too 😭but today was a good day
you should have put Bondo on the area your working on, sand it down, then primer it, and then paint it and finally add your clear coat and the rust is gone.
the rust is only hidden for like a year. the year after the rust start showing thru the paint and the bondo and stuff start failling appart.

@@charredskeleton hahah, i have honed my technique and now i use the foam to fill the holes, then spray it with rubber undercoating.
@@Francois_Dupont haha, on a work beater my if it looks good from across the street then it’s good. A bit of gravel dust is all it would take to blend out tape or undercoating.
Ok, NOW I've seen it all.
You overlapped that duct tape wrong! You need to start from the bottom up! If you sided my house that way you would be fired! The seams need to over lap the trailing edge so water don’t run inside them, so you have it seamed backwards!

ha ha that is too funny. duct tape matches pretty good. for a day or 2.
the proper way to repair that rust is to cut it out and Weld in a new piece of sheet metal.
You should have started applying the tape from the bottom so you wouldn't have to worry about seeing the seams.

What happened to the right way of repairing rust or a dent ? Watch videos on youtube about dent and rust repair and then practice repairing your rust at a junk yard and practice, practice, practice. There is no replacement for doing anything the right way. There are no short cuts for rust and or dent repair. Learn to do it correctly, whatever it is.
