The top register, OK ! But not only. The most difficult in this terrible aria is the control of the breath. Rossini wrote long phrases following long phrases and no place to breath. Every tenor tries to find his own solutions to resolve the problem. Here, Chris Merritt is really impressive.
blichilde They are all great singers, but it’s subjective because they represent different fachs; therefore, different preferences which are all acceptable. In the end, who sings it depends on administration and timbre and fach preference. Merritt has a beautiful line and a very brilliant squillo that is ideal for this piece as well.

He is a great tenor, deeply under appreciated, we do not need to be further overrated those "famous" 3 tenors type, at least not here.
