Browns Ferry crossed the Tennessee River, connecting Limestone County on the north bank to Lawrence County on the south bank. My grandfather and his partner purchased the farm that surrounded the ferry in Limestone County in the mid-1920s and parts of the farm remained in our family until a few years ago. Alton Delmore was a tenant farmer on that farm in the late 20s. He wrote the Browns Ferry Blues later and he and his brother Rabon recorded it in 1940. TVA now operates a nuclear generating station on what was once a part of my grandfather's farm.
Imagine being such a great musician, that you can ask Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Billy Strings, and Michael Cleveland to play on your next project, and they show up.
An absolute dream line-up, and great performances on a tune that seems as old as the Civil War food chain, yet as fresh as blooming purple iris in Tennessee.
The first time I heard this on the radio, without being told who was playing, I would have SWORN that was Doc Watson doing the vocals. What a great group!
Give the cameraman and production team a raised. They added the box to see everything the musicians are doing when the camera is elsewhere or zooming. Amazing!
On second watching caught that Michael Cleveland is wearing a Punch Brothers shirt. That circle of musicians is absolutely ridiculous! All supporting each other. And Bela dancing around at the end... hilarious.
Hearing this is like when the Bluegrass Album Band came our or when Longview hit it's thump. Just great great musicians playing bluegrass the way it should be played. The songs make you feel them. Thanks so much folks.
Billy playing with the BEST! we grew up when Tony, Sam, Bela etc were all his age.. .now they are the old timers! Billy Strings. What a talent and overall great and kind person on the planet!
I'm pretty sure Tony's banjo with that fancy inlay is his own signature model which he designed. They are for sale through Tony's website, out of my price range and I could never do it justice!
Tony I love when you play it straight....nobody better these days. Jack Baker p.s. Sam Bush, none better than you in my opinion. Billy you are always so so good....Jack Baker
wow I got lucky as heck. I searched this song randomly without having any idea this video released just yesterday. Happy to be among the first. It sounds fantastic. Thanks for sharing
Billy strings on the guitar, Tony T and Bela Fleck picking banjo, Michael Cleveland on the fiddle, Sam Bush picking it pretty. Anyone know the bass player?

@@Epsilon1247 Yeah, when Bela introduces him as his teacher, it cracks me up. What a humble, gracious guy.
Imagine being good enough. To sit in that room with the Legends. Billy is taking notes 🔥
The "good guys" are real generous with their time and talent ❤
That's as good as it gets. Thank you guys for that performance
Cleveland’s solo and fills - most creative fiddler on the planet…

YAAAS
Sure miss the Signature Trischka sound Tony had with the Stelling banjo!!
Wow
I hope they get S. Martin on the album. He deserves some respect also.
🥰☺️
You should have kept the 5/4 bar in the choruses, too. (That's a joke, of course!) Apart from that, marvelous!
What do you mean by this? I’m trying to learn the song but am getting caught trying to figure out the rhythm in the chorus… idk any music theory
@@JackRogers-kk1ve The line "Lord, lord, I got them Brownsferry Blues" is one beat longer, that's all.
Which makes this a very unusual song. The first time I heard it, I knew there was something odd going on.
Billy strings on the guitar, Tony T and Bela Fleck picking banjo, Michael Cleveland on the fiddle, Sam Bush picking it pretty. Anyone know the bass player?
Mark Schatz
Wait, was that tablature glimpsed in the intro?
Looks like one of Tony's transcriptions of a home recording of Earl!
Strings is the best that i have heard. That covers some years and ground and time neighbor.
Humm T.T. playing 2 different banjo's.
Here take my money 😂
Which ones Bela Fleck?
Ahem...and, no big deal, but also including Michael Cleveland and Sam Bush
Bela Fleck, too!
Oh hi Bela fleck
man…
Should've turned Micheal loose
The original lyrics would have been better .imho
