  • (UPDATE: 12/31/21) This video was previously only viewable via my Patron page. To close out the New Year I am making it publicly viewable. These are the outtakes and some of the extra footage from the crossing Alone Across An Ocean video ( • Sailing Alone Across a... )
    Hello Friends,
This is an episode of clips I couldn't fit into the long format video but felt they would be of interest to sailors. I shot over 300 video files over the 32 days at sea and A LOT of stuff ended up on the cutting room floor. This episode is a collection of some of those outakes. Its a rough edit and meant to be a supplement to the Alone Across an Ocean episode. I have formatted it with the day headers so you have an idea of the timeline the same as I did with the longer video.
The drone footage has no sound on it because no drone footage has sound unless the editor adds some in post. That footage is me fighting the drones automatic attempt to return to the location it took off from several miles astern of Triteia, a function it would not let me turn off before I flew it because the GPS signal in the ocean on my iPhone was so weak. I crash landed it into the cockpit and suffered some pretty bad cuts to my hands trying to remove the battery since it would not shut down. It maybe broken from the crash but at least it didn't end up in the ocean.
Other than that its mostly just footage of me talking about ships business.

What amazed me the most is how calm you were during this whole situation, which is the right attitude to have. You have balls of steel.

It takes an extraordinary amount of courage to cross an ocean alone in a 30ft boat.

I'd just like you to know that I'm in my late '50's watching loads of sailing channels prior to getting out there and actually doing it.

Shrunken Head has been on my tattoo list for a while now, but I've never been able to find a way to make it look as good on paper as I imagine it. I'm digging yours, man, it looks great.

Life is for learning and this work exhibits the experiences and mistakes of a very hardworking, creative person.... even old salts can learn and enjoy watching other's blunders.

James, I don't know the reason your wife did what she did, but I had the same thing happen to me, when I was over the road in my Semi. I feel for you brother! You are a cool cat, you will meet an awesome person, with the personality and knowledge you have! Stay strong my Brother!
