Living the dream for all of us! You almost have me convinced this is a possibility for life. Take care and stay blessed! Thanks for sharing this amazing place with everyone.
@@SailorJames even crazier, such a big world can still be so small. Not only is she a badass, over the utube she seems to vibrate at such a chill and patient, yet fun level. Between her channel and your channel there's enough inspiration and good vibes, that y'all pulled this 40 yr old outta his mid lifey and helped put a dream back in my brain. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.
You are living what both fascinates and terrifies me. You and Sam Holmes and others of your ilk are Living Heroes and Legends. Gratitude, Salutations and Godspeed. ❤🙏🙌
A lovely video in all its simplicity. However, I must say that as time goes on and I follow your videos, I also appreciate more and more the introduction of the videos. It is so suitable for your style and the way the videos are made and what you want to express. Calm, balanced and subtle are words that come to mind. I really get in the mood when your videos pop up on RUclips and you don't disappoint. Looking forward to the slightly longer passages (also love the sailings). Greetings from Norway :)
Hey sorry it took so late to comment. I crushed my shoulder Monday morning moving my 88 year old dad . Anyway it's been rough. But your video did as always and cheered me up. I think I'm gonna sell everything and move south. I've lived on the gulf coast long enough. Peace. Sean
The resort at Drawaqa Island rents the reef from the village so there's been no fishing for about 10ish years. They also cull the crown of thorns starfish which gets to plague abundance without the predators due to overfishing. So that's why the coral reef there is so fabulous ❤.
When im going through it and have a lot on my mind, I always this video. This is why I’m in the coral reef tank hobby cause seeing stuff like this relaxes me. Thank you and greeting from New York City 🏙️
Brand new to channel from wind hippy channel. Looking forward to watching all your videos. U.S. Navy veteran who loved being at sea on Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. ENTERPRISE fro 1986 - 1990 then from 1990 - 1994 in Newfoundland!
Hi James, I forgot to say you should go and have a look at Cloudbreak Off the mainland, you wouldn’t believe how big those waves are. Thanks once again, keep up the good work brother.
Yes very calming channel to watch i agree 💯💯💯 and i loved the blue/green fish swiming in that coral tree Awesome and yes. Very healthy coral garden OMG 😱😱😱 and i watch alot of sailing channels and never seen that many fish( tropical ) Just Beautiful Thanks
James is the best on utube when as far im concerned.every episode he captured my heat and soul and my brain ain't resisting.i sometimes feel like im with you on board.just never stop making the videos .❤
Ive been catching up on your amazing adventures. i love the respect you have for evrything you do. ditto to the comment below too, your channel is a go to for maximum chillness. Trying to stop bingeing as im coming to real time. Thanks James.
Another fantastic video,James!! The sea..,,your voice, the music, the landscapes.... everything is medicine for my soul that does not stop crying since a lost my dog on saturday.Thanks,thanks,thanks.May God bless you and protect you always!
Awesome vid James! Also watched you help Holly with her engine install today, nice! We're rolling a bit here in Great Inagua, Bahamas but will move after provisioning. Take care brother!💪❤️⛵
If you can, you should make your way over to Kadavu. Waisalima is a really laid back resort and people there can show you were to go on the Astrolabe reef to swim with sharks.. Have fun.
Superb James, man the snorkelling was off the planet bro....haha, my wife walked by when you got a little excited with the fish jumping and came over to see what ''James was excited about'', she knows your excitement laugh lol 😂 Anyhow, wonderful film James, thank you so much.....btw the soundtrack 5 stars bro!!.....safe travels ☺
I spent a lot of time there and became good friends with many of the resort staff. The diving in the pass is also excellent. I went on a dive with the divemaster at the resort, just me him and a safety diver. It was amazing. The Anchorage over at Paradise is also very good. I rode out that storm over there.
Another great video James. Never seen seas and coral like that, I bet you were loving swimming around in it. The rain never bothers me so where you are looks idyllic.
A great video and narration James as usual. Enjoy the underwater adventure and the amazing mixture of wild live. What a beautiful group of islands. Thanks for sharing with us and look forward your next video.
About diving when there is lots of cloud cover--often the visibility is even better on those days as all the lighting undewater is indirect with less reflectivity on suspended matter. Love your adventures, wish I could have made it to the outer islands of Fiji. Though Vita Livu was great too.
Hi James, thanks for the videos. Fantastic brother can’t wait for you to come to Australia. If you come to the Gold Coast please look me up I will show you around keep enjoying Fiji. I love that place that people are fantastic Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 From the big island 🏝️
James I compare you with Will Geer in Jeremiah Johnson. He was able to keep his scalp in tact and you have managed to keep your head on your shoulders where it belongs. With him it was Griz and with you its giant manta rays.
There's a significant difference between cruising today versus fifty years ago (besides GPS v sextant). Another yacht evoked great interest. Now, not much.
A charity is selling an Alberg 30 for $500 (in Indiana). The keel and rudder look good, no sails. Diesel is from a forklift. It needs a ton of minor fixes from windows to cushions to toilet to paint, etc.
Love your work! Have a question- you mentioned that there usually isn't rain on that side of Fiji- with your knowledge of weather, have you noticed changes due to climate change? With more energy in the atmosphere do you think there will be necessary changes to maritime navigation?
I am a firm believer in science and climate change but that has nothing to do with the Yasawas being dry or having rain. With the world wide strengthening of storms I do believe sailing around the world will get more challenging in the next few decades.
As usual. Another great video. What’s the variable. Why so much rich hard corals? I remember when I was a kid, the coral reefs of the Fl keys and certainly the Bahamas looked this good and more. No more so. So why here? So nice. Thanks for the documentation.
I'm sure it's multifactorial but I've read that increased drought in Saharan Africa over the past 50 years has contributed to more dust events occurring by way of the trade winds with direct impact on coral reefs in FL and the Caribbean
Even more confounding is that there are coral bleaching events just a few islands over. Sure, elevated ocean temps might be stressing the coral, making them less resilient but there must be other factors at play even on a local level. Perhaps pollutants being discharged.
when you jump into the water and leave you boat, do you ever worry about currents? Surely there will be some situations and anchorages that will have sketchy currents?
Spoiler alert! James damn kind of you to help out Holly! You are an awesome dude. A cynic might have said, “No one helped me!” But not you man! Well done. If you don’t know what the heck I’m talking about, you most likely will later on. This is mystical look into James’s future with my crystal ball!
Hey James was wondering if you leave a note on your boat saying were you are or went when your snorking or in the water period in case something was to happen you know like a shark attack and you dont make it back. ???? Just wondering with no buddy system in place
JAME'S YOUR NOT SEEN BEAUTIFUL CORAL TILL YOUR SEEN THE GREAT BARRIA REEF IN AUSTRALIA, YOUR BEEN IN NZ A LONG TIME CANT WAIT TO SEE YOUR VIDEO'S FROM NZ ITS A PRETTY PLACE NOT AS GOOD AS OZ BUT NICE.
Thanks to your content, I have set my plan in motion after "thinking" about it for years. I have launched my own business to escape the 9-5 slavery of normal society and once i get it up to the point that it can self sustain with only minimal internet interaction, I am going to sell everything and buy a liveaboard boat and start actually living this beautiful life we are given.
Very wise not moving when the light is poor. Fiji is dangerous and the charts totally unreliable. That you think that reef is in "good health" is incredibly sad. I was on that very reef in October and it's 80-90% dead. All that brown colour is algae colonising dead polyps. It's supposed to be pink, green, red, blue, purple, not brown. The best coral in Fiji is in the Somosomo strait, where there is still much live coral. Unfortunately much of the South Pacific - and the world - coral is dead like this, with another El Nino episode about to start and therefore another coral killing bleaching event in the coming summer.
I read your Yachting World Magazine article. One question... I was surprised to read that your rudder was made of layers of wood. Is that because you, or someone prior, repaired it or modified it and used wood? I thought Alberg would have used foam and fiberglass or some material that was not wood?
@@SailorJames ...interesting. Well it did last nearly 50 years so that is a testament to their choices. Do sailboats come with an Owner's Manual that details service items and schedules for servicing the way that cars do?
-- QUESTION -- Can I ask how much you paid for your sailboat? I know that you have done lots of work to it, but when you got it "new to you", roughly what did it cost? I would love to get one too if I can find a bargain but it is not easy.
@@SailorJames ,,,ah, that makes sense. I am looking at listings from $5,000 to $40,000.00 for an Alberg 30.. Seems like condition is everything and these prices probably reflect that. Your sailboat looks like it is dialed in and I really like that hardtop Dodger.
