Sailor James , You are The Real McCoy The Real Thing !! You DO what MOST of us dream on doing !!!! Plus, you are an intelligent, humble sailor !!!! Also, safety come first in your book !!!! Appreciate that you do not drink because one mistake can be fatal !!!! James, your voice is very relaxing and you speak in layman term !! You calm my special needs anxious cat Lucy down too !! Thank you and blessed 2023 to all the viewers !!
Back in 1989 when i bought my 30 foot yankee sparkman stephens in hawaii and was planning crossing oceans in 1991,i bought earl hinze book landfalls of paradise while i took a coarse on celestial navigation. I think youre anchored right where he took a picture that jacked my curiosity to maximum overdrive of the south pacific.&I never got there but i did get everywhere else in the south pacific practicly ,eventually.. Fiji being my favorite. That was back before internet and all we had wasTv , books and magazines like cruising world . Gps had only just become available to sailors.. the magellon hand held gps was 5,000.00 . 3 days before i set sail in sept 1991 it went onsale for 2,200.00. I bought it. 3 years later you could buy a garmin gps for 199.00 that was much faster and better. Gps really did change the world. Now everyone can sail the oceans. I got lazy and let my skills for sextent navigation slide after that first year.over the last 30 years i only know 1 yachty who knows how to use a sextant.
I like James is about the only one who thanks us, "the viewers" 😉 What an interesting and beautiful place to be! those lava formations, the water, vegetation, the nature of the place is just beautiful. You are living the dream brother! Safe sailing! 🤙
18:13 -- stunning color palette !! The jazzy selection at the end provided a glossy finish and just So worked. Thank you for doing this. One of these days I must send a token of my appreciation
I use your life as an inspiration to my young wife and son to never give up on their dreams. in a few years we will be moving back to Thailand but right now they are home sick. your journey is a gift to all who watch you. thank you calimike
Dude, imagine that uninhabited Motu on a clear, calm, starry, moonlit night. Although I'll probably never see that with my own eyes I'm glad I got to see it through yours and knowing it's there brings me peace to some extent. That's got to be one of the most peaceful places on Earth. You worked hard to get there! Congrats on a safe yet ultimate adventure.
Wow James. I’ve been binge watching your stuff for a while now. Your life journey is truly a proof of grit and a showcase of how our human spirit will always prevail if we just stick to the greater goal no matter how gnarly life gets. You show it well my friend! There’s something special about this video. One of those that just comes out with a different touch! Thanks for all you do and keep on sailing brother ⛵️.
Love your journey, James. Sam Holmes turned me onto your channel back when you were in Marina Del Rey. Haven't missed a video since. Keep living the brochure life.
Hey James, thanks for sharing! This was a beautiful journey, well documented. I especially liked how you cared enough to leave and/or help the hermit crabs. Cheers brother! ⛵🌎🌍🌏
Started watching when you sailed to Hawaii and have been hooked ever since, amazing video and fascinated by your narration. Shared with my sister now she’s fascinated also!😊
OK... I just watched when you bought the boat, episode 1. Now I have to watch them all. They're great. I lived on board a Catalina 25' for a few years on the Chesapeake bay and I loved it. Never blue watered. I want to do it again. Thinking back it was the best time of my live.
10:00 watching the difference between the pounding waves of the open ocean versus the calm waters of the lagoon is kind of disquieting in a weird way. it's when you realize that islands in the ocean aren't just land masses but also the water they encompass...
Hi James! That was 20 minutes of pure bliss! That was hilarious when you discovered the shells in your pocket were occupied! Ha! That like never happens. Have a great day
James, I can’t thank you enough. I will never be able to walk on a beach again but you sure are bringing it to life for me. I am so glad I found your channel. Thank you
Man, these last couple of shots are epic and the tunes just hits the spot! From here it looks like you're living my dream. How to meet you out there some day!
James, for better dinghy performance lock the motor, sit on the bow and steer off the bow with an oar. Keep the blade dipped so just a bit is slicing the water then turn the blade in the direction needed and she will turn like a dream. No more wheelies, she will trim perfectly, no more motor vibrating your arm off, and you won't have to steer much leaving hands free for filming. Give it a go, I have been doing this cruising the coast around the Ithsmus and it's much more pleasant.
Aloha James, What a beautiful place..I'm a shell picker and totally love seeing the shells there. Watch out for cone shells some are deadly. Stay safe and enjoy.
Such a fantastic and incredible journey your on! Thank you very much for taking us along and sharing your awesome experiences!! Your such a lucky guy! Be safe my friend!!
I’ve been following you since CA. You really seem to be happy at this point of your adventure. Wishing your the best in the future and thank you for sharing with us.
Here in the pacific north west we encourage people to leave shells on the beach for hermit crabs. I didn't know they were down down in the tropics too.
So inspiring! About to do the same when my little house on the prairie sells, renovated a old Camper to adventure to the sea and buy a sailboat. I love your channel, inspires me every day.
@@SailorJames Thanks for the encouragement! It’s been a shocking decision for my family to actually believe lol. I’m not 18 anymore and I have a bone disease that requires monthly attention. It’s an all in because I’m sick of living in a way that does not feel natural to me anymore ie, my house, any house. I’m almost 50 now and ready to jump the hell in! So grateful for kind knowledgeable people like you to lead by example.
Yeah I stumbled on his vids while the wife was out of town. (I could then watch what I wanted.) I'm now hooked and even made her watch a few and I think she's getting on board. No pun intended..
Nice mix of music. The jazz with the drone footage was very good. Beautiful place. Thanks for showing us.
I'm 1 year in the future watching this, what's stress to you brings peace just watching, thank you!

Those first "shells" you picked up were dead heart urchins, the first without its spines and the second, still had them after dying.
Absolutely sick !!!.....thank you for sharing brother !!!.
Beautiful. Thanks. Never been here. Certainly qualifies as paradise. Nice drone shots.

Loved the crab 100 meter sprint race, made me laugh that you had them in your pocket for that long.
The shallow passes between the motus look as if they were created by storms. A fabulous beach combing opportunity. Nature is amazing.
Yeah they are called Hoas and have tons of life in them
WOW! Just beautiful!
Keep those adventures coming brother.
Man, these last couple of shots are epic and the tunes just hits the spot! From here it looks like you're living my dream. How to meet you out there some day!
