    Btw would love the full "rules around the breakdown" video, this is one of the hardest parts of rugby for beginners to understand. Refs are always giving penalties around the breakdown, but it is often hard to tell why! Thanks !

      @@couchrugby you mentioned in the Breakdown defense tries to make the offense commit a penalty. Could we get a video explaining penalties? I find they really help with understanding. Thanks!

    Thank you so much for your videos. I didn't grow up surrounded by rugby (like many other south africans) but I have family members that love it. I have been trying to learn in order to support them and their passion but it has been really difficult. Your videos explain things in such a concise interesting way. I actually understand and therefore enjoy rugby games now

    I really appreciate your videos! They have really helped me as a novish rugby player :) A suggestion for future videos could perhaps be some common rugby tactics, e.g., pods, doubles, fires, golden, etc.?

    Thanks!!! I've watched 2 of your vids and understand MUCH more. Looking forward to the Seattle Seawolves tonight now that I know what the hell is going on. I REALLY would love to see an explanation of the Breakdown. Right now it just looks like anarchy breaks out then someone comes out with the ball.

    • @couchrugby
      @couchrugby  Год назад +3

      Hi Mike, yes the breakdown is like trying to watch a royal rumble wwe match, too much to look at and too hard to know where you should be looking. with time though your mind will learn what a legal ruck should look like and you will almost instinctively know something was not right with that "picture".
      But you wont know that until you have had the opportunity to learn, so yes I will be posting a video on the Breakdown, but because it will be such an important and key video for this channel, I want to do it right and do it justice. So I have decided to take my time on it. But do look out for it as I will be aiming to get it out before the World cup later this year.
      Also love the MLR, so good to have a professional tournament in the USA. It would be great for the game if it can establish a strong foothold there.

    I wish Gridiron football would practice offloads. I see in most games at least one play where an offload for a big gain could have happened. In the CFL once in a blue moon you will see an offload.

    • @couchrugby
      @couchrugby  Год назад +2

      Yes offloading is a mindset more than a skill set. The team needs to have the mindset that it is how we play and supporting players need to be on position to receive the ball. So one player cant just do it on their own.

      @couchrugby 🤣🤣 it's a proper dad joke! It did make me giggle!
      Also, any chance you could do a video on tactics/strategies? The whole 7-1 thing vs NZ (and the bench) has peaked my interest in that 😊 🙏🏾

    • @couchrugby
      @couchrugby  Год назад +1

      Haha yes dad jokes are my bread and butter. I am planning on doing something on the 7/1 split thing soon, I think it is actually a nice easy concept I can clear up for people quite easily.

    Do a video that explains penalties. Types of penalties, how they are awarded and the options team have when penalties are awarded to them.

    What does the term handoff mean ?

    • @couchrugby
      @couchrugby  Год назад +3

      Hi Willie, a handoff is when the ball carrier uses an open palm fend on a would be defender stop the tackle. that may not lead with the forearm to do this though as that would be deemed to be foul play and would result in a penalty and likely a red or yellow card
