      I can't believe I've only just found your channel. Amazing content, adding so much more to my understanding of the game. Especially the different, roles, positions and responsibilities👍🙏🏈❤️🎊 please can you confirm your accent for me. When I look at the screen and watch you, you sound south African. When I turn my head away and just listen to you, you sound austrailian/new Zealand. It's very confusing for me🤔

    Been watching Rugby on and off for 15 years from the Super 12 days (and even played for a bit in primary school) but have never been able to really get into it like other sports mainly because I had no clue what was happening around breakdowns and how open-play turnovers happen. So I've made another attempt to try to understand it as the World Cup gets underway. This is was easily the best and clearest explanation I have seen. Thank you.

    I have been watching Rugby Union for last 30 years and I have mainly picked up the rules by watching. However, with the advent of kids growing up, playing and watching Rugby, I always get asked what's going on, why is that a foul and generally can't answer. These videos and the precise and clear way you dictate, has made my life a lot easier and makes me sound dead clever......many thanks, although here's to the Lions stuffing you on Saturday!!!

    Firstly, I love these videos. They keep popping up in my feed and I live then. Just checking in, though, at about 13 minutes, when the Pumas poacher steals from the All Blacks, he looks to be doing so illegally because he's not supporting his own body weight. I completely understand if the footage you've chosen is there because it clearly shows a poacher etc, and I know you didn't have time to go into detail with the nuances of poaching etc, but I just wanted to point it out as illegal poaching. That said, this is a wonderful overview, and I love the effort and time you put into these videos. Thank you so much!

    It would be awesome to see a video on the most common infractions or how referees impact the game.

      Hi Aaron, I will add that to the list. I am thinking of doing a video on how different referees interpret things differently, It is a very ambitious video though, so I am going to need some time to get a few more easier videos under the belt.

Im now stoked at our presence in this WC and would love to join a veterans team... as a 35 year old it may not be easy to fall back in shape to play good rugby again! Are you still playing at 37? Cheers!

    Would love a vide explaining where a winger should be positioned when defending and attacking. Struggling to find any on youtube

    • @couchrugby
      @couchrugby  Год назад +2

      Hi Wayne, yes the main thing a Winger needs to understand is how deep or shallow they have to stand. And this is all impacted by where they are on the field, if they are attacking or defending, and also what type of defensive or attacking system the team uses.
      As a general rule, the winger would fall back if the Fullback needs help covering the back field. Usually only one would fall back leaving the other one to stay in the defensive line, usually the fullback would be in control of this.
      And on attack they position themselves so that they can run onto the ball at pace if it was to come their way. This varies from winger to winger, again its about selecting the right depth.
      Also incase you did not know the two wingers are each positioned next to the two touchlines.
      Will also add this to the list of potential video topics :)

    Question: the situation at 9:34
    red is tackling blue and gets penalized for not rolliing away.
    But another blue is already tackling him before he even completed his tackle.
    how is red supposed to roll away? and shouldnt blue get penalized for tackling a man without the ball?

    In the ruck example at 13.13, did the Argentinian player not go off his feet before playing the ball? Nice videos.

    • @truckcompany

      Yeah it's pretty clear. There's so many other examples out there, but he choose one of the worst.

    • @couchrugby
      @couchrugby  6 месяцев назад

      @truckcompany i think you find he regains his feet before he plays at the ball. Touching the ground is an indication of not supporting your own weight not an outright illegal move in its own right.

    • @truckcompany
      @truckcompany 6 месяцев назад

      @@couchrugby "Rule: 15.15. Players on the ground must attempt to move away from the ball and must not play the ball in the ruck or as it emerges." If he's not supporting his body weight then he's on the ground. If he is 'moving away from the ball', then I have no idea what that rule means in this context. It makes more sense to penalties him
