I sat in a cold garage till midnight one TT practice , checking and re-wiring a sidecar for a workmate who did multiple TTs as a passenger and then as a driver, , very successfully….., it never entered my mind that what I was doing could influence someone’s life, you did it because it mattered , and you, lived the passion for the racing, from the guys you are helping…..great days , such emotion and memories 👍🇮🇲
Chris Harris, one of the very few who draws a BBC salary who could successfully interview or even understand the worldview of the mighty Mr McGuiness. Great podcast gentlemen.
John is the most down to earth bloke you can ever have the pleasure of meeting... If you didnt know who he is you would think he was a punter at the races and not the legend he is... if more people were like John the world would be a lot better place...
I’ve listened to all of the collecting cars podcasts. Chris you’ve had some belters already, as a great writer and interviewer it’s always very good. But this was on another level. John really is a legend and such a down to earth proper bloke. What a laugh and such a treasure all his experience and life stories. Amazing 👍
When the word Legend fits. My grandfather raced at the TT and his ashes were scattered the length of the track from a hopper on the back of one of his vintage bikes. Great listening
That was the best interview I have ever listened too. Chris when its going that well just keep going, we won't get bored, could of listened to another two hours. Do another one and cover all the topics that you ran out of time for.. The best guest and interviewer.
This has to up there, along with the Jethro Bovingdon podcast, as containing some of the best stories Chris has posted on Collecting Cars thus far) What a guest!
Tamiya answer: TT Legends finished 5th at Le Mans 2011 What a fantastic interview. It's lovely to hear someone talk without looking over their shoulder at a PR team. It takes two to interview, well done Mr Harris and Mr McGuinness.
Down to earth interview, engaging and another reason why broadcasting via radio/podcasting captures better than a visual face to face, where there is posturing and ego can overwhelm the spontaneity of open conversation. John McGuinness, like Guy Martin exemplifies the ground-up achievement of genuine racers borne out of passion not fame. Brilliant.
What a hilarious and amazing interview. I have listened to 20 interviews with JM and learned more about him each time. I have never heard the story about Guy Martin. I am sure he meant nothing by it, but it was an unfair comment and Guy still never won at the TT
I’m late to the party with these pod casts - love Mr Harris so had a listen to a good few now, all brilliant but this one is utter class. Thank you Chris for hosting and thank you John for making me spot my morning Tea out laughing. Legends 😂🫡
John McGuinness is an absolute legend and I really enjoyed this conversation you had with him. The Isle of Man TT is the most mad motor race in the world. If you just like motorcycling you have to go to this race it will blow your effing mind. For me every year it's: Indy 500, Isle of Man TT, Le Mans; those are the most important races from May to June that's where I'll be.
What a refreshing and thoroughly entertaining and genuine bloke interviewed by a thoroughly entertaining and genuine bloke! Answer to Tamiya comp is 5th
For the competition - John's team finished 5th. I laughed my nuts off at this - had a shit week at work so thank you guys. McPint is the guy at the bar entertaining the whole place with his escapades.
The team finished 5th. Brilliant interview, well more of 2 proper guys just chatting really,, wonderful listen. I am sat in Peterborough Hospital with a busted hand and hip and this really helped pass some time-it could have been twice as long and still not been to long!
5th place at LeMans. I recently got back into model car racing and bought a dark impact but I would absolutely love a VQS (Vanquish) it was my first ever car back when I was a kid , what a lovely thing it is! Superb podcast JM what a legend.
One of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened too. I want to listen again! Has made me interested in the TT and I’ve been reading up on it. Would love to win one these cars for my boy. They came 5th in the 24hr race. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Tamiya Competition answer: TT Legends finished 5th at Le Mans 2011 It took me 3 hours to listen to this one had to keep turning it off as the kids were about! Legendary.
Brilliant chat. Mr McGuiness a true hero and grass roots racing legend. Was it a smoke alarm or a bike alarm in service mode beeping in the background? Always been properly impressed by John’s talent and his humbleness. Thanks for cheering up the day no end 👍🏻
Cracking listen as always, credit to Chris for the quality of the interview and letting McPint reel off his stories! True TT Legend; speaking of which - 5th Place the team finished in 2011. (With Cam Donald and Keith Amor) Not bad for a brickie from Morecambe!
What a guy and what a story! Chris, I don’t know where you find them, but keep them coming. Just when I thought the Nicky Grist episode couldn’t be beat…. Great ‘content’ - thought I’d stick that word in there as I know you love to think of yourself as an ‘influencer’.
Best podcast I've heard in a lot of years .John please do a chat podcast yourself and if you need room for one of your two strokes I'll look after it :)
44:25 this is exactly all I'm after as father. Take those pictures, preserve them, get them off your phone, printed/storage/what ever.....it really hits home in the future. I know it's hard at times but do it.
Garage full of bikes and cars but no battery for the smoke alarm ha. Great podcast yet again though chaps, best auto interviews out there at the moment ❤️
Legends were 5th place in the race. Thanks for 1 1/2 hours of crying laughter, often cringing but full of so many quotes ( I won't be saying out the pink in to the stink though 😅) So refreshing to hear somebody be interviewed and not be "throttled" by the PC brigade 😎👍😎
Tamiya competition: TT Legends were 5th in the 2011 Le Mans round of the 2011 EWC. Great podcast. We’ll done to all concerned! Only complaint: we have to wait too long between podcasts!!
Tamiya answer. TT Legends Finnish 5th at LeMans 2011. John McGuinness you definitely have the touch, I've heard a lot of interviews with Chris Harris on him being interviewed or Chris interviews some one, but none of them have made Chris laugh so much with genuine laughing 😆

@@bogmanstar889 Gutted we've not been able to get over for the NW200 past couple of years.
The smoke alarm battery beep in the background is the icing on the cake to this interview. What a treat.
CHIRP
For the love of god if you’re going to record a podcast replace the damned battery on the smoke alarm
Literally just finished falling off a chair pulling out the batteries from my smoke alarms 😩 great interview. Thank you
Duracell 9V is in the post, John. 😂 Epic tales from a genuine legend.
That's actually John's fire alarm, he's just so chill he thought he'd finish the interview before he tended to the immolation.
John is the most down to earth bloke you can ever have the pleasure of meeting... If you didnt know who he is you would think he was a punter at the races and not the legend he is... if more people were like John the world would be a lot better place...
This is the best interview I’ve ever heard! He’s so pure and unapologetic. Rare these days
I’ve listened to all of the collecting cars podcasts. Chris you’ve had some belters already, as a great writer and interviewer it’s always very good. But this was on another level. John really is a legend and such a down to earth proper bloke.
What a laugh and such a treasure all his experience and life stories. Amazing 👍
John: "I learned to drive on my mom's Datsun 120y."
Chris: "Unbreakable!"
John: "I rolled it!" 😂🤣😂
Brilliant proper down to earth our john. Biker life is living 100%
"Some parents are shit!"
Fkin hell I was crying! 🤣😂
When the word Legend fits. My grandfather raced at the TT and his ashes were scattered the length of the track from a hopper on the back of one of his vintage bikes. Great listening
That my friend is awesome. Anyone who races at the IoM TT is a legend.
Add two absolute legends in one podcast, blend with the smell of petrol, bake for an hour and a half. Unreal.
"Hitler couldn't stop it could he"... had me belly laughing ..brilliant
Nearly fell off my bike there
i listened to this while sat in traffic on the m1. it was exactly what i needed. i loved it.
They finished 5th, one in the pink one in the stink, can't imagine Lewis giving that quote in a podcast 😂😂😂😂
Utterly superb and epic tomfoolery!

Just found this…….absolutely bloody brilliant, Thankyou Chris for this wonderful insight into what makes a TT rider what they are 👍👌🇮🇲
