BUDAPEST // DJI Osmo Pocket 3 // Cinematic Footage

- During a recent trip to Budapest for my best friend's Stag Do I thought it would be a good idea to take the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 along for the trip to capture some cool footage of the city. Inbetween all the regular Stag Do activities people usually get up to of course. So without a plan, like at all, I just captured what I could as we were exploring the city, so appologies if this isn't telling a cohesive story. But my main aim was to simply get some hands on experience with the Pocket 3 and just get used to it. So I wasn't planning to come back with anything worth while to be honest!
HOWEVER!! Oh my word! I LOOOOVE this camera! And I'd like to point out, I have NO ND FILTERS, I don't own any for this camera yet! So the shutter is just whatever the camera dictated to get the correct exposure, and I don't think you can even tell!
I obviously shot in D-Log, and shot in 50fps in 4k for the whole time I was there, and I am blown away by the image quality! This isn't just like 'Action Cam' footage, this footage seriously holds up! It holds up to the big boys and looks fantastic!
So I hope you enjoyed this cinemtatic sequence I manage to pull together (I think it turned out pretty well I have to say haha). And apologies for the photo at the end, but I thought it finished off the theme of the video nicely with that amazing song 'Outlawz' by WEARETHEGOOD (Artlist of course!). And with it being a Stag Do, we couldn't go the Budapest and not pay a visit to the gun range! So yeh it helps hold together whatever story it's trying to portray. I tried not to include it, and the song choice just didn't really have the same impact without it. Creators choice haha.

Did you intentionally add the shake when the beat dropped in the beginning?
Yeh. I wanted it to feel calm to begin with and then a bit edgy and agressive when the beat kicked in. As if we were outlaws disrupting the peace 😂
Just a creative choice. I like it, tried to keep it fairly subtle too. But you may think otherwise 😂

@@TheCreatorsBlock Not only a matter of taste. You don't do yourself a favour with that. Transitions like that always look amateurish. You don't see such in pro Videos. And that's a pity, cause the video for itself is really really great.

@@TheCreatorsBlock Respect to you. I think what we are all trying to say is that your footage looks truly amazing and professional. As a matter of fact, it's possibly the most professional footage I've seen out of the OSMO pocket 3. So I was blown away, it made me feel like you definitely know what you are doing in some regard, but then the vibration thing happened, and it kinda just killed the AWE a little . Think of it as constructive feedback, we want you to win at this! also, looking forward to seeing more footage and perhaps a video with your process and settings! Respect again, this was still amazing!

@@TheCreatorsBlock Yeah thanks i just saw it. I like the pocket 3 but the price is steep, especially in the UK. I was thinking of getting the Ace pro instead.
Ah cool. Yeh the price is steep but I guess it depends what you would use it for. I would say it can work in more professional scenarios than the ace pro. But the ace pro would obviously work better for more action style shots.

Looooooved this. So could you please talk a little more about your post process. Did you use the standard DJI Overlay to converts from DLogM to Rec 709 ? Did you keep this at full strength ? Then you used a LUT to make the fooatge look cooler ? Veryt ken to hear what you actually did. Also keen to hear why you chose 50FPS ? Really really nice. I own this camera, but I can't figure out how to get it to look like this. Would really appreciate you laying out your steps ? Thanks again. Marvellous work

Thank you! Yeh to be honest I had it in Auto, I don’t have an ND filter yet so the shutter is probably cranked. But I don’t think it matters with this camera half the time. So yeh DLog as well, 4k 50fps and the exposure compensation on +0.3 or +0.7 depending on the scenario.

Well I kept changing depending on the scenario but mainly FPV and Follow modes. I didn’t change any of the default speeds though.

Sorry I don’t know what you mean? The osmo pocket doesn’t have a zoom lens?
If you mean have I ever used a mirrorless camera, then yes quite a lot to be honest. I’ve made a few videos with them if you want to take a look.

How are the shake effekt made ?
Edited in Final Cut Pro. I add an adjustment layer over the section I want to shake and add the earthquake effect to that layer. Adjust the settings to suit. Quite a nice little effect with minimal effort. And you can copy and paste the adjustment layer to different parts of the project too.
