Excited to see your name roll by on their list and you delivered quality as always
This thing sounds soooooo emo early 2000's, those dudes keep it "vintage".
Really liked the demo tune. This sounds like a must for rock players
These full mix examples sound so Pro, mixing/mastering wise
Cool demo! I know that Josh isn't necessarily a metal guy, but given his track record of making a BUNCH of killer pedals it doesn't surprise me that team JHS made a really good sounding high gain pedal.
The problem with most high gain pedals that I have found is that compared to going straight into a dialed in amp, high gain pedals feel and sound very "artificial" me. They tighten the bass in a weird way (not like a TS as a boost does) almost choking it and there is usually a fizziness to the highs. I also feel like in really high gain pedals the mids are often over-scooped and they lack a certain presence, giving it a hollow-ish tone. This obv is my subjective opinion since I personally know lots of people that really like the way high gain pedals sound. This new pedal seems to have found a balance and provides enough controls to really dial in a quality high gain tone! I dig it a lot
This pedal is perfect for Numetal because it can be used as a rectifier and produce low mids like a PRS. I wish I had found this pedal sooner.
Sounds like a good regular dist, a lil fuzzy, nothing special for my ears, but great demo as always anyway
You should try the Behringer HD300. It slays.
I usually don't use drive pedals but JHS obviously know who's able to do a proper metal demo!
Sounded killer . 🤘🏻
this sounds great! love it. it makes my drop b medley sound weak af hahaha ;P
Nooo yours was actually pretty cool!! Awesome riffs.
This one has a bit more dad rock and alternative dad metal and dad emo, though.
Plus you used a 5150 which = Win.
Finally a JHS original design lol
He’s talked a lot about how everyone clamors for something original but what actually sells are clones/takes on standard circuits so I’m not gonna hate too hard for that
@@therewasascenenot to mention the majority of pedals on the market today are based on existing designs in one way or another. JHS just happens to be way more transparent about their design influences than other brands. There are many ways to distort a guitar signal, but only a small percentage of those result in something that's actually pleasing to the vast majority of peoples' ears. Most guitarists just want a variation of an existing design that they already like, and maybe just offers a slightly different set of adjustable parameters (less, more streamlined tweakability can be just as desirable as expanded tweakability).
The PG-14 was very original as well afaik
Punctuation, or lack thereof, can be original. Lol
its actually his take on the Ibanez sm7 he says it in his demo.
the pg-14 was an actual original design
Was hoping you'd break out the Schecter C-VI for this demo as well. Awsome demo and tracks as always!
Thought I heard Josh say himself that this was based off one of his favorite Ibanez distortion pedals.
I like it, but i have a few things I'd like to try out with it. How about a high gain amp, and low gain on pedal and using it as a clean boost and mid frequency boosted controls to voice it for solo's. i use a mid boost pedal this way with my mesa, and it ends up voicing the amp nicely, but i can't change frequency, it fixed. Anyway, it has a really cool vibe and sound taking me back to the old days, i feel maybe a bit fuzz orientated and compressed, maybe a bit like smashing pumpkins tone.
Great demo as always. Love seeing Josh and team releasing a high gain pedal. A bit of a departure for them and very welcome.
Sounds great! Might be a weird question, but can it do Orange-esque tones? Thanks!
Kinda
That second demo kinda has a black sabbath vibe.
Sounds more like a fuzz here.
The pedal graphic is pretty accurate. Sounds like a melting computer.
JHS already had metal high-gain distortion and its Sweet Tea v3
Sick.
Its a JCM900 in a box according to Josh...
That's funny, I just replied to Fluff's channel and said " So you turned your Diezel into a JCM900.
Hmm, I also get some Ibanez SM7 vibes from it as well. This and the SM7 do the recto-in-a-box thing really well.
@@dannyllerenatv8635JHS actually had one in comparsion in his video 😄
@@g.koch. Yup, just saw it! I had a feeling he would too, he does so everytime he talks about high gain dirtboxes lol
I said to myself "man that sounds just like 90s, 2000's P.O.D." songs I feel so alive, and south side, also youth of the nation. I love nu metal sound. Then you nu metal, I was like yes!!
Dude, do you publish your music? Where can I hear it? Your riffs are fucking awesome!
Always love hearing your riffs on new pedals. Great demo, Jon!
I thought you were starting to play Linkin Park at first! 😂
Haha not too far off I guess ;)
@@SonicDriveStudio @baritonegoatstudio not far off a higher gain version of the Friends theme song either lol
@Beadlock_ haha!
Sounds like a Rectifier...🤨 Video sounds great
Im hard just watching this
How did you record the guitar tracks for the nu metal sound? Like, did you quad track it and pan hard left and right?
@@mrfender5001 double L and R, so 2 tracks
This pedal goes HARD! How would you use this pedal?
Well.... Looks like I will not use it at all....
My tube Engl E530 mod tube preamp sound much more better, and much more versatile, and nave 4 channels. And ... Even little smaller size... 🤷
How it is as a high gain amp booster?.
Because you can boost or cut any frequency, and you can choose which Mids you want to boost/cut.
For example, you can boost high mids if you want. Or cut low mids. Etc. all while adding gain. If you just have one high gain amp, you're stuck to its own voicing which may not be a bad thing, but if you want to widen your tone options..... this pedal sounds pretty neat as a boost.
I like it!
Oh hi.
👍👍🍺
Why not use it only into the power amp section of your amp. Now you’re stacking 2 preamps. Let us hear it on its own please too - missed opportunity
Usually these pedals aren't designed to go straight into a power amp
@@SonicDriveStudioJosh Scott says this pedal does both!!!!
Sticking with metal zone
Thick
I really want you to make an AMT La3 preamps sometime. It should be really great if you do it!
