I see a lot of comments that it's a waste of polish, I have to disagree. I have several bottles of polish that are no longer available for purchase(discontinued) . This is an excellent way to revive older polish and make it last longer. if you are a nail person, you'll understand, if you just play, then , maybe not for you.
nail polish thinner can also help to thin put thick and goopy nail polish.

It thickened/dried because it's spread out in a thin layer on that wheel. If you put it in a tiny pot, it won't dry out as fast.
I wouldn't recommend adding Hydrocol right into the bottle since regular polish bottles are see-through. The UV-rays will dry/harden the polish overtime. Another option is to transfer the nail polish and hydrocol mixture into those gel polish bottles. Idk about the shelf life if you do that.
To prevent the mixture going goopy too fast you could place an opaque bowl over it the way dentists do with resin and gel artists do with their pots x
And don't use fan or air-conditioner while applying polish

I’ve noticed this also works awesome with some of my really cheap nail polish so if you don’t want to use your expensive ones then get cheap ones. Also it’s a pain to open the bottle but it’s a great products when following all the steps it can last up to two weeks and it helps get healthy long nails just please remove it properly.

I'm curious. When you cured your first color coat, was the pallet with your color mix near the lamp? That could have cured the "pile", and made it necessary to remix. Just need to be mindful of where the product is in relation to the lamp.

Emma Burch Umm..... well sometimes it still doesn't come off, so i was expecting the proper way. It may work for you but not for me. So can you please do a tutorial on how to properly remove gel polish and/or glitter polish!

Scratch the top with a nail file to break the top seal, dip cotton in 100% acetone, place on top of nail, wrap in aluminum foil. Wait 10 min, gel comes right off.

if you use regular nail polish on your nails can you use gel topcoat because i have gel topcoat and i dont want gel nail polish
you can try. you have to let the regular polish dry fully or else when you cure the gel top coat the polish underneath will scrunch and form a weird line.
If it's not dry, this doesn't work. Not having the base coat be a gel coat too also isn't worth it then because it's what makes it adhere so long to the nail.
I've heard it's safe if you wait like a full 24 hours for the regular polish to completely dry but I've never actually tried it myself. I use all gel though so I should really try it some time and see!
I have done it with a regular base coat and regular polish. I waited about 24 hours before applying the gel topcoat, and it worked really good. It did not last as long as gel, but lasted longer than regular polish. It was much easier to remove that way also. :)
LoDawn Young I used gel base coat, then two layers of regular nail Polish, waited like 10 minutes and put a gel top coat. It cured alright, there are no problems with it at all and I have it on my nails fourth day now (nail polishes started chipping the second day on my nails) and no chipping
another solution to get glitter texture away is after to put a base coat then top coat because the base coat is suppose to smooth out your nail for the nail polish so it is thinner and spreads out to make it all smooth
Thank you for explaining this lol I tried this method but I didn’t know it absolutely had to be 50/50, I did try to keep it to that ratio but I clearly went over because my nails would not cure. Excited to try again 😊

This works! I've actually mixed my almost gone gel nail polish with regular polish, totally works!
Question, why would you use acetone to remove the tacky layer? When it's supposed to be alcohol, 90% up.
Your studio lights probably semi-cured the first pour of polish to the tray before you were able to use it again. That's the deal with LED polishes and studio lights.

The brand Sensationail also do a 'polish to gel transformer' which you can purchase alone or as part of a set with an LED lamp :)
If you use the nail polish brush that you mixed it with and decide next time you want just regular polish will it effect it at all
if you mix the gel and Polish in a dampen dish or shot glass what ever you have it won't get thick and dry up

This is a great idea! Did you clean the gel-polish mixture off the brush before you put it back into the bottle? I wonder if it would change the viscosity of the polish over time.
Yes! The instructions said to thoroughly wipe the brush off with a paper towel after you're finished!
I figured it would be easier to purchase a good small paint brush instead. Might have to experiment with it.

I have the sensationail brand polish to gel transformer and it calls for a drop for drop ratio, you drip the polish off the brush and add as many drops of the transformer then mix. easier to measure that way than just pouring it out.
