    Man they need to come out with a dispensing roll for the painters tape like how scotch tape has the desk roll dispenser. I just switched to 1" round sticker labels, they stick and peel right off if needed

    What I do is I place the comic in the bag with the board, I then place the bagged comic on a flat surface and put a good-sized book over it. This removes all of the air out of the bag. Then I seal the bag with tape. Much easier than trying to push the air out after you tape it closed.

    What’s worse than the single piece of tape is if that piece of tape is going sideways so it’s parallel with the fold of the bag. Because when you go to open the bag you end up tearing the tape in half like a hotdog bun splitting down the middle. Not you need a new piece of tape but guess what there’s no tape in sight so you say you’ll just retape it later. You won’t.
    I dont know if you mentioned that or not because i stopped paying attention to the video to write this and now the videos about to end and I’m not rewatching it lol
    Also…. Just buy the sealable bags like i do

    I store all my comics in 4 Mil Mylar and I use cling wrap to seal it. I hate putting tape on my Mylars. Plus I use 3 sheets of Microchamber Interleaving paper in my books. Also I use Comic Skins clear backboards.

      I absolutely don't have the money to store 20k books the way you do, but you are definitely keeping them well protected. I actually personally don't like 4mil Mylar. I think they are way too bulky thick. But that's just my preference.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture

      Great question! Honestly, it comes down to two things: preference and budget. I don't book too many modern books in poly, unless they are keys (even minor keys) or have really cool covers. So, right now, I will save on costs by still having some poly bags laying around for most of my modern books.

    Painter's tape? What? Why? For a tape that's low tack you might choose cloth tape , as well. a much cleaner choice (found in the pharmacy section). That blue tape turns over time into this horrible crusty, gummy mess. Impossible to remove after a decade. It's meant to be used and disposed of right away. Not to withstand storage. Otherwise great video but I can't share your opinion there.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  3 года назад +1

      Fair argument, but I have not had one comic book with painter's tape on it have the tape deteriorate whatsoever, and I've had books with painter's tape on them for well over a decade. I'm sure certain environments can contribute more than others, but I've also had any type of tape deteriorate into that crusty, gummy mess if it was on polyethylene bags because it's the bag that actually breaks down and not the tape.
      I'll have to look into the cloth tape as an option. I might assume that is going to be even more pricey than painter's tape.

    • @knocknockearth
      @knocknockearth 3 года назад

      @@JernosComicsPopCulture @Jerno's Comics & Pop Culture in full disclosure I was talking about tape i used in a garage which was experiencing huge swings in temperature. That flaky crusty gummy mess- I've never seen anything like it. Off-brand cloth is even lower tack and you, absolutely, will need scissors; but it's very suitable.. That is compared to the more higher-end cloth tape which will neatly rip. Maybe 'doubly' your average cost of the blue painter's tape if you fish around for it. I use it on book bags that I might go in and read, again..one day.

    I hate when people put scotch tape horizontally along the back of the book. I find that because the scotch tape was perforated with the jagged edge of the tape dispenser when you go to open the bag it splits the tape down the middle and it no longer holds the bag closed.
