SO because of you and that GORGEOUS fabrics you were sewing last night, I went out and spent $80 on 1/2 yard fabrics of the Robert Kaufman Hummingbird Lane fabrics!!!!!! They didn’t have any jelly rolls but I bought 11 different pieces. I’m going to make mine bigger so it will around my big behind while laying on the couch. Haha!
Getting ready to start sewing quilts for all my grandchildren- been collecting fabric for years- excited to start and this is a great refresher!!! Just found you- and I’m looking forward to seeing you more
The best part is when you spend the beautiful contemplative moments after your top is done! I love that time after all your work! Thinking about borders, backing … it’s a fun part about quilting! Thinking about making one now, (I’ve done 2)
When I have done the jelly roll race strips, I will walk them out between seams. Put under the needle then put the top over my arm and just walk backwards making sure to have no added tension so I don’t stretch my fabric but it all untangled and lines itself up pretty good on its own. It’s just the way I do it 🥰PS I really enjoy your videos
I am watching this on Saturday morning. I just got a gorgeous jelly roll from Fat Quarter Shop in the mail. I think I know what I am going to do with it now! 😁
Woo hoo! You made one! Mom usually takes a few days to do hers. The one she's working on for me that she started last week is giving her a fit...it'/s still not done! :) So, don't feel bad about the 3-day finish!
I just had Carple tunnel surgery on Friday so I’m getting vicarious pleasure from watching even though it’s after the live production. It must be great to work with your mom.
Next time you plant a tomato plant, plant it deep, or lay all but the top few leaves in a trench 3" - 4" deep. If you dig down about 6" or so, lay a banana peel in the trench, cover the peel with a couple inches of soil, then lay your tomato plant in the trench. It wont take long before the stem starts growing straight up. For flowering, vegetable or fruit bearing plants, potassium is necessary. Nitrogen will give you lots of green foliage but no produce. Blood meal, bone meal and greensand mixed in before you plant anything is good for the plants. Compost works wonders too.
I was on the phone with my husband if I missed the ending and the reveal watching it now turned out absolutely beautiful. Now I need to go make me one lol. Be well
It’s called hummingbird lane. I bought the same ones for mom for her birthday and she made a race track for the back of a quilt made from charm squares from the same line!
I just bought the same Juki but I am having trouble keeping my bobbin threaded to have the machine running.I bought it to go with my Grace Cutie Quilt frame.
Wouldn't it be fun to add an interesting, fussy cut insert into a solid/batik roll of fabric. It would show up in the quilt as little images. Fun for a child's quilt. Grandma better get sewing!
Check out the spinal cord stimulator! It was a life saver for my nerve pain and helped me walk again after having Guillain barre and three surgeries this year. The spinal cord stimulator saved me!! They do a trial first for a week and then if you like it and have relief which people who feel relief first from the tens unit always have great results from getting the SCS. My insurance fully covered it. But make sure you have someone to help you for the first month because you’re not allowed to move much at all and it’s painful at first BUT I’m 12 weeks post op and seeing amazing results!! I went with Abbott and I couldn’t be any happier!! ❤
I crochet at home and Quilt at our cabin. I also have a hook in my hand 99% of the time. I have donated to the NICU since '07 after my son pass away from a logging accident. After 11 days we chose as a family we took him off life support. He had a hurnated brainstem from being hit in the head.
That was fun! Especially as you came more near the end, and you were getting punchy and nutty! My sister and I did this race, me in Northern Cal. She was in Oregon! We stayed on speaker phones wile we did this and laughed! I won! And, she being the oldest, said, "how could you win? How many stitches per min does your machine do?" LOL!
That was a true sibling rivalry competition! I suppose you could figure the stitches per minute of each and spot the sister with the slower machine a head start. But it sounded like fun. You could also have pinch hitters/sewers, like a friend or family member sews when you need a break. Or a guild has a relay race where 10 members make 2 quilts. Would have been a very expensive call before cell phones. I remember those days.
Watching replay from Iowa…I haven’t seen much in the last 5 years or so…took a bit of a detour to design and make greeting cards…I’m getting burned out and trying to find a good time to start sewing…my machine is gonna need a good cleaning before I can start
I loved the diagonal blocks added to the ends of the strips, but I don’t think I’ll have the patience to do it between every strip. I’ll just put a few scattered around. I’m 80y.o., so don’t have a lot of time…
1:08:22 Hi Becca! First time commenter here. I really like watching your lives (though I can’t stay up that late so I watch them after the fact) and have a question about your diagonal sewing process. I see when you are attaching the white, sometimes you leave a small bit of the colored strip hanging beyond the end of the backwards “L” shape before you sew it. Could you please reply with a short explanation on why that is? Maybe it is something I can’t see with the camera angle. Just wondering if it is a way of varying your strip length for preferences or if it is something specific you are trying to avoid at the end of the strip, like a selvedge (selvage for us US folks… lol).
Pressing to the dark side just refers to pushing the fabric under the darker of the two fabrics. When pressing from the front, you can *feel* where the seam is going and make sure it's pressed in the direction you want. From the back, you can see the seam.
I have watched this video like 6 or 7 times. Can't sleep AR is kicking my butt. I have been up since 1:30 mountain time. I have your package ready to mail.
Hi Becca from Canada. Love your videos. Your quilting room is beautiful. I missed it when you started the live stream. If I have subscribed do I get notified by email of your video stream? I see that it is every Friday night .
Hey Becca, I was watching this video on replay and you mentioned going to Quilt Con in NC. I really want to go but not sure where to stay, what hotel are y'all going to be staying, if you don't mind me asking?
Hi! There are a lot of hotels right near the convention center! Quiltcon's website has a few hotels listed, but they're all sold out already. It might be a good idea to map it out! :) I know a few folks that are staying a little outside of the city and driving in and parking for the day at Quiltcon!
A little late to the party Congratulations on hitting 20K!!! That is awesome. I learn so much from watching your videos. Almost have the courage to make a lap size quilt instead of my tablerunners, toppers and small wall hangings. Until then I am learning how to adopt some of the patterns to the samller sizes. Look forward to watching the replies and occasional lives. On one of the replies you mentioned you were doing a giveaway. I looked on your website and did not see a link or any info. Where should i look for the info or am I too late?
My ears perked up when you mentioned Heavenly Stitches - but then you said Texas. There is a Heavenly Stitches in Kingsport TN - A great shop with lots of fabric and friendly staff.
I am waiting for jelly roll day on the 16th of September. I added a 2 1/2 square of white last year at the end of each strip. I like your diagonal add on to each piece.
GORGEOUS! Love the diamonds scattered, and the red right through the middle. Perfect!
Gorgeous jelly roll quilt! I love the fabric line.❤❤❤❤
I think your idea for a shirt that says "quilt hair don't care" is awesome!
Hi Becca and Mom....I'm watching you on a Sunday night/Early Monday morning.... 2 months later....LOL...
I love that you are not racing and just enjoying the process. Love that you are sewing together. ❤
Thank you! 😊

Beautiful quilt. Congratulations for having the patience to get it done. ❤👍from Somerset, UK
Thank you! 😊

I am binding my quilt while you make your jelly roll quilt.
The best part is when you spend the beautiful contemplative moments after your top is done! I love that time after all your work! Thinking about borders, backing … it’s a fun part about quilting! Thinking about making one now, (I’ve done 2)
I just wanted to sit and absorb all of the beautiful colors!

Made one last week using all shorter any length but WOF from my scraps. Tried to use as little duplicates as possible. Now too back it.
Thank you for sharing all the informmation.
Our pleasure!
A friend of mine did the jelly roll race using black and white with yellow squares in between. Looked great.
Hi. Good afternoon from Galveston Tx. Love your tutorials

I'll pass that along to Ian! He's *still* sore - and goodness knows, he falls so much he'd definitely get use out of it in the future!

Scary movie for me was Carrie.

Hi! The iron is cool!
Thanks! It's the Panasonic Cordless - Model Number WL-607 (the one with the ceramic plate!)
Now I will want such an iron. )))
I met Erik Estrada in 2013 in Tennessee. He made a movie called "Finding Faith"
Love the shirt

We'll be there with bells on!
Love it!
Beautiful, the colors are so vibrant and stunning!
Thank you! 😊
How many 2 1/2by 5 inches do you need to cut.

@3:19 ur bobbin didn't catch. Do u need to pull up ur bobbin thread ? My older domestic does that !!

I go to a pain Dr that puts the units under the skin. You would have to travel to Boise ID. I like pain patches best. Hope you find so relief soon.
how can you press toward the dark side if you are not pressing on the correct side?
Pressing to the dark side just refers to pushing the fabric under the darker of the two fabrics. When pressing from the front, you can *feel* where the seam is going and make sure it's pressed in the direction you want. From the back, you can see the seam.
What's the size of the white strip

The fabric
I'm watching the replay, I wish I would have caught you live. Can you tell me the name of your jellyroll? love it, thanks.

I would have to use the rotary cutter 😂. Makes me cringe watching you use the scissors.
I’m going to do a jelly roll race on Monday my machine is having a tension problem
My ears perked up when you mentioned Heavenly Stitches - but then you said Texas. There is a Heavenly Stitches in Kingsport TN - A great shop with lots of fabric and friendly staff.
You're right - Heavenly Stitches is in Kingsport, and Stitchin Heaven is in TX!
Hi from Ireland
I am waiting for jelly roll day on the 16th of September. I added a 2 1/2 square of white last year at the end of each strip. I like your diagonal add on to each piece.
