We used traditional navigation tools such as the sextant, along with Omega, Loran-C, and SATNAV. They refer to SATNAV as GPS today. Out of my four years of service, all but 1 month of it was "haze gray, and underway". I was a teenager fresh out of H.S. when I enlisted. I recommend the navy for anyone who wants to travel to broaden their horizon, and education. Joining the Navy was one of the best decisions I ever made. And , No, I am not a Navy recruiter!
Getting on a tug boat crew and work up to a pilot. As a QM you'll see a lot of pilots and even raise a lot of flags to indicate that guy is on board. QM often become pilots which are usually 6figure income
@@anon1842 Some people go for a third mate's license straight out of the Navy. You get credit for your rating and sea time when you enter Seaman school in pursuit of a license.
