This beginner friendly, easy level crochet tote bag purse is the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe! The unique construction of this bag is both stylish and functional. Most importantly, it is fun to make! This tote bag has straps that resemble a rope connected to the bag itself. This bag is large, structured, can stand on its own, and hold lots of items!
This pattern will create a tote that is 15” wide, 6” deep, and 13” tall. Different yarn, hook size, or gauge, may make a bag that is smaller or larger.

Thank you for this pattern. I have all 3 pieces finished, but I'm struggling to seam it together. Are you going through both sides of the bag when you first started seaming the bottom?

Does it work well with other yarns? I.e: hue and me?
I can't figure out why I end up with more stitches on the bottom part of the bag versus the sides. Could you please confirm that there needs to be an equal amount of stitches on all 3 sides and that every row increases the amount of stitches by one (?)

Hi! You should have more stitches at the bottom than the sides as you work. You are increasing at the corners so since the bottom has two corners (one on either side of the bottom) and the sides only have one corner (where it connects to the bottom) the bottom will increase quicker than the sides! So although you start out with a ‘square’ shape and have all sides equal to begin, the bottom ends up being wider to create a perfect tote bag size!!
i have the same problem as you too. and it sucks because she's didn't mention how many stitches we have for the final row. kinda have to redo the sewing again and again tho.
Lovely pattern. But I can't seem to get it to be a rectangle! It's not square - mine kind of goes into a V shape. What am I doing wrong??!! Can anyone help? 😮
Hi!! I’m guessing you might not be increasing properly at the corners or missing a stitch on the corners from the previous round. Each side should be +1 stitch per row, and the bottom should be +2 stitches per row
@Originally Lovely Hi. Thanks for replying. I was missing the stitch in the corner after the hdc, c2, hdc. I skipped the stitch that's kind of hiding! But on the sides, do I hdc in the second chain corner from the previous round? 🤔

My eyelets seem a little off, they don't line up nicely but seem to jump a little to the right or left now and then.. Is this normal or do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I love this bag but really messed up somewhere. I have about eight stitches too many across the bottom edge
Hm I’m not sure why that would be but I’m guessing you are working into one of the chain stitches before you increase at the corners which would create additional stitches each row! Watch how I do the corners and pay special attention to the two chain stitches!

Yes tshirt yarn would work nicely! Just be sure to check gauge if you want your bag to be the same size as mine! Also, make sure you choose a hook size that creates a denser, more structured fabric. You can use a smaller hook size that recommended on the label!
