Brad, this is brilliant. Yours is the only video I've watched that gave me confidence to do my own belts. I see the slightly dusty/oily stuff near the vertical cylinder inlet cam pulley. Is this anything to worry about? Mine looks the same.
Enjoyed the video Brad. Have a 03 ST4S Have not seen any signs of metal at oil changes. Time for valve check and belt change. Have a question. Why is it necessary to change belts at 2yrs or 12,000miles. My Honda mini van says change belts at 100,000miles. I can't imagine there being that much difference in the quality of the belts by that range of mileage difference. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
this is my take on the belts - bradthebikeboy.blogspot.com/2017/02/ducati-timing-belt-failures-and.html and bradthebikeboy.blogspot.com/2017/02/some-more-gates-belt-stuff.html it's up to you if you choose to follow the schedule or not. 5 years is now recommended across the range on anything that ducati currently have a live schedule for on their website maintenance section, and it's what i recommend to all my customers. if you don't replace them, the only thing that might happen is them breaking. if that doesn't concern you, ride on.
Hi Brad. Have you ever had the mobile tensioner not give enough adjustment on the belts? I'm trying to do mine atm, vertical cylinder adjusted fine but horizontal I can spin the tensioner pulley 360 and the tension won't read right at any point.
if the squish has been set and the cams are 0.3mm or so closer to the crank, or the heads have been machined certainly. we even had some std 748 or st4 over the years where we had that. some of the later engines have silver or gold rollers, which are larger and can fix it.
Made a comment on your last video saying that I would'nt mind seeing more 2V content and you put up this🤣 Turns out I also happen to own an 05 S4R 996 that needs new belts. So great "timing".........At what point did the 996 S4R engine get adjustable pulleys?(if they did)
really appreciate you showing us how this is done, thank you.

Thanks for putting this together and providing extra wisdom and details.
Great video Brad. It made the belt change easy! 👌👌👌
Excellent timing: got a rescue ST4 out the back waiting for belts 😎
Thank you for this Brad.

I'm going to put a fresh set on my 848 at its next service. Mind giving me a recommendation on best belts to use?
Made it look easy 👍🇦🇺

Grazie mille! Quale é la app per verificare la tensione delle belt
Any links you can add for the belt tension tool and the angled 12mm?
n-track tuner, gates carbondrive, easy tension are in the app stores. the spanner you'd need to see a local tool shop.
What is the belt service interval? I’m finding mixed answers- some are saying the belts last up to 15k miles.
02 748
i would use 5 years or 20,000km, which is 12,000 miles. major service intervals have been extended on later models to 24,000 and then 30,000km.

2V was 2001, 4V desmoquattro was 2003. 4V testastretta had them from the introduction in 2001.
@@bradthebikeboy , so every 996 S4R engine has adjustable pulleys?
@@hayawim every s4r yes.
@@bradthebikeboy Thanks
Super!
Muy bueno
This video covers the 2003 ST4S???
yes. dots on cam pullies and covers are in slightly different places (vertical only?), but everything else is the same.
@@bradthebikeboy preciate it Brad.
How much degrees should engine have when doing this?
do you mean engine temperature? cold.
