Been waiting for the ROG Ally X since I first heard of it. Definitely better than the previous model, but there's always room for improvements. And speaking of that... I kinda hope that there'll be allowable upgrades to many handheld consoles. After all, such a huge technology leap can be both costly and difficult to catch up in the future....
It's os still sucks, steam os is way better. Also, there's low to no performance gain compared to z1 extreme, but it's hottier. The only good change is in the battery

Everyone does all these tests without allocating auto VRAM or 8GB, maybe even goes up to 12/16 GB VRAM allocation with the new 24 GB but no one is showing this.
It's performing better for too mainly because of 7500mt ram vs the 6400mt ram in the OG Ally. Plus some AAA games being able to use 8GB VRAM and still hasn't 16GB for the system left over. Frame times significantly improved too.
These handhelds (excluding steam deck and the rog ally kinda has a pretty decent UI) still need better user interfaces, just imagine if Microsoft used the Xbox UI for these handhelds, it would definitely compete with Valve’s steamos
People have been begging Microsoft for a handheld/touch-friendly OS for years. With the PC handheld market exploding like it has been, I would think it would be higher on their priority list.
Looks like the extra chonk from cramming in a larger battery should give just enough clearance to slap a slightly thicker heatsink onto the SSD. Very cool
Nice upgrade with performance. Ally X looks like it's running much smoother than the Ally. You can see with 1% lows and on the fps real-time graph. It's all over the place on the original Ally. I should have mine in hand in the next few days. I'm looking forward to it as I've never had a Steamdeck or the Original Ally.
wow, the video is amazing like all the ones you have, impressive to see how there is not much difference in performance between the normal version and the X, that did leave me a little dissatisfied
you messed up by putting cpu boost on by the way. in most games all it does is make the cpu go harder than it needs to for the game that you're playing, and wastes battery and lowers frames. It's meant more for games where it's CPU bottlenecked
I asked ASUS are they 100% certain it’s fixed now for the Ally X. They wouldn’t straight up say yes, but they did redesign the entire motherboard and worked hard on this product. My SD card is working perfectly fine so far and haven’t heard of any issues from anyone else either. I’m fairly confident it’s fixed now.
The 2 usb c ports means i can now play with my ar glasses as big virtual screen while charging where in the old ally i have to dock it and use a controller or plugin ar glass and play for an hour and recharge

I have first rog ally i can say i liked ot but 1h battery sucks for real i need take and use powerbank 20.000 mha with outpout 100w and i can play with rog aly 100% and powerbank 100% with performance more less 2:30 - 3 hours
Suh a powerful devices. Wprst handheld i ever bought was the steamdeck. Had to RMA it 3 times and 3rd tome had to be repaired twice then had to get a 4th replacement and finally i sold it it. Will never buy a valve handheld again. Garbage steam os/linux. I definitely get this or the LegionGo.

funny how this type of thing is called teardown and i was just simply searching this device running a AAA game which is a sandbox game called Teardown which meant will show vids like this one instead of what i actually wanted😅 edit:note that the one of the big concerning issues is that the SD card will become dead if playing a game which is because the only placement for it sadly is susceptible for damages so what i wanted to add is just a heatshield on the SD card slot (inside of the handheld) which means breaking my only warranty if i plan to buy it another edit:i forgot that this handheld has many variation so this whole thing i wrote is not useful but i know one of the said models has the SD card issue but idk if the different ones have something to deal against heat

Ally X comes with 8GB VRAM by default, but yeah 12GB is needed to try (but i doubt will show any siginificance)

Not natively, you'll need a emulator Sadly. If they had a android version of this, the ipad pro would finally have a competitor.

Good console but remember, not worst for the price. For the same price you can have a good rtx4070 super.
