That box is an old American Girl furniture box! I had a doll bed come in a similar box, around the year 2001. I love those type of boxes because they are so sturdy and are perfect for storage. #24 is a perfect first doll. She's so cute! I love her darker blonde hair and brown eyes.
You are right, she is Definitely JLY 24, but the Pleasant Company neck stamps were only used until 2005, and the 2008 body tags were used between 2000 and 2008, so your doll could have been made between 2000 and 2005. If you want to know the exact month and year of manufacturing, some dolls have a tag on the inside of their shoulder seam with a hole punched month and year between 2000 and 2010. I am so happy for the start of your AG doll collection!
