I love hearing about clubs that are founded because players genuinely love playing football, not how much money they make. What a success its been, the National League already, 1 more league to go!
Sitting here at home on Spain's north coast, My mind's taken back almost 70 years to seeing my first Dorking match at their then ground of Pixham Lane. I remember the Meadowbank ground being inaugurasted by Walter Winterbottom and being the general factotem of the reserves for a couple of years and always remembering to take a pair of boots in case we could only muster up 10 players. I even managed to score once at Hertford and to be on the winning team at Wembley (Vs Wembley F.C. reserves). Those were the days.
I played and scored there for Loxwood … county 3 we won the league dorking came 2nd we both went up .. the rest is history now I watch them play my team woking … mad story love it ❤️⚽️
Cray Wanderers: Cray Wanderers Football Club is an English semi-professional football club based in Chislehurst, London. Based on later reports, the club has a claim to have been established some time in 1860 in the twin villages of St Mary Cray and St Paul's Cray, near Orpington. Such a date would make it one of the oldest football clubs in the world.
Looks like Dorking FC (over 130 years old) who they were about to groundshare with folded as there were delays getting the new stadium ready. Dorking Wanderers are now in the top division of the non-league pyramid.
Bunch of Amateurs brought me here, it’s quite incredible what Marc has achieved I’m definitely coming along for a game next season.
Did you go?

Pretty amazing how far they've progressed in such a short space of time - The BOA series is brilliant

Fair play - what an achievement - I've no doubt in my mind whatsoever that Marc will get them into the FL. One of the great football stories.

Never realised the ground had shut down I was there in 93/94 best social side I’ve had at a club we all had a drink after the game
When matey mentioned Brockham fields my eyes lit up cause that's where I first started playing as a youth against Brockham Badgers
