    I'm very curious how you do maintenance on this tank with so little space around it. Don't you need to get at the back of the tank/cabinet? We haven't built ours yet, so I don't have a sense of what kind of access you need, but I keep seeing references to leaving 4" of space to get to the back. Beautiful tank, though!

    Nice tank and layout, especially the islands in front, and diversity of corals. Most folks overstuff tanks with rock (myself included in the past), less is more.

      Definitely a great point, we always try to encourage our customers to build their aquascape with the idea in mind that the corals should be given enough space to grow to full size colonies over a period of years. We've come a long way from the 2lb/gal rock walls of the 90's ;)

    Awesome tank and video. I've been looking at the reefer 200 for a while. It's a really good size for most ppl with apt or condos, without overdoing it. I'm in before the tang police, which is a plus.

      I commented before you addressed the Tang issue in the video. That being said, please keep doing videos, whether you have 1 subscriber (me) or 10k. I'd like to see your sump with the 200xl. You are good at this. Keep going.

    floating rock structure on the left, mushrooms and softies on the ground below, with a tank that small you wanna free up the floor, it'll go nice with the gradually increasing structure on the right

    I’m looking at one of these on the used market, good tank to start with. It’s this one of the max e-170 but I’m not sure what one to go with

    Isn’t that blue tang in a small tank? How is your blue tang? Like is it territorial or happy? I am asking this because me myself had a blue tang in a 40b and later I got rid of it. I wanted to get a yellow tang but I’m afraid it’ll become aggressive in my tank. What do you recommend, should I add a yellow tank in the 40b and get like 2-4 more fish or get 9 smallish fish in total.

      @reefloungetv6339  2 года назад +3

      42g is too small for any tang long term. This Blue Tang now resides in the 850g display at the shop. This was just a temporary situation, and even that we do not recommend.

    do you feel like this tank is large enough for the bio species environment that you've created? presumably, it must be otherwise you would not have created it thus. A Lot of sources I'm gathering information from say you can only have a few small fish in a tank that is in the 40 gallon range, but your tank has 1:00 plenty of nice medium size fish and species.

    What did you do to get rid of your GHA? I also tried razor and the corals did not like it. All my LPS closed up.

    Hi. I am going to be purchasing that exact model tank. It will be mixed. I see you have 2 light's. Are 2 necessary?

      I started off with 1,. added a 2nd. I recently added a 3rd. Just helps to eliminates shading as the corals grow.

      sorry i have since learned those are called frag racks, lol. would love to know how you tank is doing now as I have the near exact same one - more recent model G2. And I put a purple tang in there. He's doing fine but it's a Juvie. I don't know how long I'll be able to keep my purple tang. Yours is one of the best videos regarding 40sh gallon reef tanks. I wish you'd keep posting.

    • @realonesent9615
      @realonesent9615 2 года назад

      Depends if i had any other tanks going on or not...If only one tank in the house, 500g. manageable in a sense but also massive enough to keep just about anything in a fully stocked reef.

    I am not the reefer police, but your fishes are too big for this tank. Especially your Dory….That docs belongs to minimum 2000 liters….Normally Dory is not for tanks….Just think about. Your tank is nano. Good for corals and maybe few very small fish….

    • @reefloungetv6339

      On this tank I run a blue spectrum in the morning that ramps up over about 2.5 hours then the lights quickly ramp up to mostly maxed out with the exception of green/red channels for 1.5 hrs, then comes down to 50% and gets progressively more blue as it ramps down over a 7 hour period. Total light period is 11 hours. I've ran other variations of before but right now i'm just trying to imitate that peak midday sun for a shirt period and have a less intense lighting for most of the day.
