I had an '84 that looked just like this for 25 years. It had 195k miles and I couldn't afford the upkeep and finally sold it. Now I have a red '22 GT that I special ordered to continue the legacy. These aren't just cars, they're like family members

Indeed. Well said. They are like family members. That's exactly how we always felt. We treated the car like family (except, on the flip side, we wouldn't leave grandma in the garage for decades, ha!). Hey, congrats on your new acquisition!

Wow. Nice clean 82. Cool story too. It’s too bad your dad associated that car with the divorce, but it did keep the miles down.
As far as the price, I don’t think it’s in the same league as that BJ auction car. That car had lower miles, less imperfections, and was better equipped. The lack of a/c is a bit of a detractor. I’d say low to mid 20s is about right. But who knows? You may find someone who gets drunk on nostalgia and goes way high. Good luck!

Ah, come on. Please don't jinx it. The financial issues are intense. Every dollar is important. Each will go a long, long way. Besides, A/C can be added for less than that. Goodness, it hardly pays insurance and garage space to hold a car so long. Anyway, which is better... ClassicCars .com or Bring a Trailer.com?

@@WyattHousePlanscom, No jinx at all! Like I said you may get more than I’m predicting. I’m just basing it on what I’ve seen and I’ve been around these cars a long time. But hey, mid 20s isn’t bad for an early fox that originally listed for 9 grand. I think Bring A Trailer will maximize its potential. Good luck!

It's originally will bring out the enthusiasts, but it's total lack of options, it's not so low mileage(even though it's very well looked after and stored for the past 40+ years), will keep the price lower than what other, better equipped and lower mileage examples have brought. Although you never know. I think bordering $30K would be fair. In it's favor, being a low optioned version, it's probably faster than what most publications were recording back in it's era. I think 0-60 times ranged from 7.8 to 8.2 from various publications with the models being, for the most part, fully loaded(t-tops, a/c, Recaro seats, power windows/locks, fancy sound system). I got my driver's license when these cars were released for sale(late 1981), and I vividly remember how exciting these models were(5.0L Mustang/Capri) to the buying public. Laugh now, but 0-60 under 8 seconds for a new car in 1982 was a big deal...
    Best of Luck!

$50,000 plus? This particular GT listed for about $9000 brand new.

It’s shocking what prices have done over the years. Check out the figures revealed in the FIRST TWO MINUTES of the following video.
      ruclips.net/video/UoIXXlBU0us/видео.html
The presenter says that the particular home she mentions was $305,000 in 1988. Today it is for sale for $1.75 million. That’s a 400% return.
However, that same amount in an index fund tracking the overall market would now be $14,241,611. Wow! 14 million! A 4,569% return.
She goes on to equate what the actual $60,000 down payment of the house would be if invested in the market (since that’s the likely, initial out-of-pocket cost), and she comes up with $2,760,000. That’s a cool MILLION MORE more than the house without all the hassles and effort. Plus, in the market there’s no furnace, roof, water heater, or other costs that a house is likely to incur over the years, not to mention closing cost when buying and selling. All this to say, prices go up on just about everything! I like her concise way of putting that info together. So I thought I'd share it.

We shall see. The various struggles and debts make the sale necessary. A good price will help with the challenges.
