I grew in US, but I had a Great Aunt who lived in San Blas. She had returned while the rest of my family lived in Panama (City). One day while visiting my family in Panama, my Grandfather just said "you are going to meet my sister." No one told me what to expect at the time. I had no idea that the only way to get to San Blas from Panama (City) and to the island where she lived was by these tiny prop aire planes and little motorboats. So a fews days latter I was in San Blas and it was almost like before Columbus landed in the Americas. This was the 1980's and the Kuna had invested in some tourism so we actually stated in a "hotel" which was more like a "hut" than a hotel as I was used to in USA. Eventually, my father took us to meet my Great Aunt. She lived in a native structure not totally unlike the ones seen here although I remember her home as being circular. It was in a village of native style structures on one of the islands in San Blas. Obviously, there was no streets addresses. To find my Grandfather's sister's home, my father just asked people where to find her dwelling once we arrived in the village. I am thankful she lived long enough for me to visit (remember she was my Grandfather's sister and he was already in his 80's by the time I was in high school. My Grandfather was married late in life). As someone who grew up in USA, going to San Blas to visit a relative was a very unique experience for me.

There is a very high proportion of Albinism among the Tribal People of the San Blas Islands. So I was kind of expecting to see a Tribe member with Albinism in this video.
Great. Im proud of those people. Panama is a small country yet so much rich in culture and traditions. Nice video.
