- An Introduction to understanding Sgarbossa Criteria and Left Bundle Branch Blocks. (Presentation by Mark Liao, UC Davis School of Medicine, Class of 2015)
The identification of acute myocardial infarction in the setting of LBBB can be difficult even among experienced providers. This video aims to highlight the utility of Sgarbossa Criteria in identifing patients with both LBBB and AMI.
Describes the criteria outlined by: Sgarbossa et al. GUSTO-1 Investigators Electrocardiographic diagnosis of evolving acute myocardial infarction in the presence of left bundle-branch block N Engl J Med 1996;334:481-487

Also, check out the Dr. Stephen Smith's ECG Blog, since this video briefly mentions the Smith-Modified Sgarbossa Criteria: hqmeded-ecg.blogspot.com/
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: Tom Bouthillet for his advocacy of pre-hospital 12 lead education. Without his blog, I would have not known any of this material! Tom notes that when assessing for LBBB, he prefers to also look at Lead I, which should have positive (upward pointing) QRS complexes when identifying LBBB. Check out his blog at ems12lead.com/ Наука
Hi there-- great video! Just wanted to add that if viewers are looking for more on the Smith-modified Sgarbossa rule, they should read his 2012 Annals of Emergency Medicine article (Ann Emerg Med. 2012;60:766-776), which is more recent and a better overview than the 2008 paper cited at the end of your video. Thanks for sharing this, going to watch more of your stuff.
This was amazing, a huge thank you!
Excellent work !!
