    Was just thinking "oh well, probably no video from Abel and Victoria this week" 😔, but no, how wrong I was. Impressed you got out in this unsettled weather. I thought that burger you cooked a while back, was epic, but those meatballs might just about surpass that! Looking forward to the roast! I'm sure it'll happen. 👍

      It was worth the effort. I wasn’t to keen at first but glad I got up there. I think the burgers are a bit practical Pretty easy to prepare vs the spaghetti and meat balls. Both taste awesome even better up in the wilderness. Next video will be with Victoria hopefully unsure of the location yet. The roast will be a challenge lol but I have said I’ll do it now so no going back.

    Just finished a raining camping trip. It was lovely and atmospheric but hard to get warm once you get soaked. Here on the Pacific Northwest there is heavy fog too which just dampens the sleeping bag. Guess you just have to embrase
    the moisture lol.

    Your camp set up was delightful, especially with your chair and the gourmet meal. The sound is better on your main camera but compared to a lot of videos out there the quality is very good and are always a pleasure to watch. Look forward to the next video.

      Having the tarp set up with the chair and rain is rather glorious. Yeah using the full frame camera is worth it captures so much more detail especially in low light situations. How do you brew coffee when in the bush? I am tempted to get aeropress apparently they are awesome.

    • @nickransom9769
      @nickransom9769 Год назад +1

      I use the msr mug mate with ground coffee. I feel it may not be up to your standard but I find it makes a reasonable brew and is very light and indistructable. It pairs with my favourite mug (been using it for 45 years) beautifully. I do agree the presses do seem to be the way to go to improve the brew. Maybe one day!

    • @AbelandVictoria
      @AbelandVictoria  Год назад

      @@nickransom9769 I’m sure the mug mate makes a good cup wouldn’t be much different to a plunger I suppose. The v60 I use sometimes is a nice process and gives a clean tasting brew but sometime it can be a bit of a pain to fiddle around with.

I was surprised to see you're camping with the S2S and ask primarily as I am debating between the Nemo and the MSR Hubba Hubba sacrificing the extra weight for comfort. @AbelandVictoria  Год назад

      I have the 1p version of the hornet with the new osmo fabric. I have used the tent in a few videos if you haven’t seen. Main things I would say is the tent is obviously very light weight for a tent with a side door poles and double walled. It seems very well built and thought out. Easy to pitch and I feel it’s roomy enough for me ( I’m 90kg 185cm tall ). The osmo fabric is great doesn’t sag like sil nylon. Over all great tent so far pack down very very small in the pack. Obviously being so light weight you need to be careful with the material.

    Awesome! 16 kg pack - man thats some weight...Im pretty sure I started my hike the day after you - the weather got better: started at Flora carpark also, then made the mistake of starting with an attempted climb of lodestone...The top was really steep and the trail got sketchy at the top...anyway that set me back 2.5 hr to get to Flora Hut vs 30 min the usual route...after that made it to balloon hut by quite late...previous night was O/N rough ferry crossing so was shattered but made fire and woke up to screeching of what Friends of Flora guy I met later could have been kiwi (2 have been introduced around there - either that or Kea or Kaka - regardless, super cool. Day 2 around Lake Peel over to Cobb then up to Gridirn hUtt for second night. Slept outside under the overhang - really loud but way cool. That night it rained but by morning OK. Next day up to Mt Arthur - speaking of Wekas - A Weka pulled my entire snack bag out of my bag and into the bush. Had to rush into the bush to get it back. Met in total 5 Friends of Flora guys that are doing amazing work - a lot of them pretty old but loving their work with a real passion. One group were going in for 6 days - big respect to them...Highlight though was the isolation at Balloon Hutt night and morning....But I got my estimation of the terrain wrong - there is some real tough vertical outthere...:)...Had the most fulfulling beer in Motueka the next day - local beer that uses local hops. So dude - thanks for your great videos and the inspiration - there are so many more awesome trips out there....keep up the good work!!
