Downtown = Wust Elbalad = وسط البلد Downtown mall is in the 5th settlement = Tagomoo Khames = التجمع الخامس Which is in New Cairo far away from downtown Aslo we have 3 different malls called "City center mall"
I'm on my last day in Cairo. I fly back to Portugal tomorrow. It has been insane in this city. SO very crowded, dusty and noisey. But I have enjoyed it, spending time with an Egyptian friend. It has been a cheap vacation.I can't imagine a taxy or Uber being very expensive. I had a ride from the airport upon arrival, but I'll be using Uber early in the morning to get back to Airport.
Yeah I used Ubers later in my trip and they were very cheap and convenient. I also really enjoyed Cairo. Powerful vibes there, interesting to experience.
Kind of like a nightmare to me landing in a new country with no idea how to get to where you want to go to. Also 'Downtown" is not an English word easily understood all over the world.
Yeah I see how this could be stressful but I embrace the chaos and have grown to love it. It really feels like the adventure has begun in these situations
Downtown is not: tagamou’ elkhamis it is wist elbalad, but the bus driver got confused because there is a mall called downtown 😂 and it is located in tagamou elkhamis district which’s way fat from city center 😅😅😅
It would have been much easier to have had your hotel arrange to pick you up. It is also possible to book car to collect you via many websites such as Expedia. When my wife and i visited Cairo we arranged a car to pick us up and take us to the Heliopolis Hilton Hotel.
Haha I'm a budget backpacker seeking adventure.... at this stage of my life I would never even consider pre-booking private transportation from the airport.
No joke, even just Watching this give me anxiety... Lol. Also, why does a country as well known for tourists as Egypt not have Proper bus links outside their Main airport??... 🤷♂️ Things like this kind of put me off travelling there, as there's Soo many moments where you're dependent on local people, which leaves you vulnerable,
Thank you for watching! Yeah it definitely would be nice if there was a local bus passing right outside the airport, but I hope you won't let this keep you away from the country because there are still so many incredible things to see and do!
This is typical. Would it be so hard to put destinations in a few languages on the buses? The feeling I got in Egypt was of a complete shambles, and people trying to manipulate me out of money in various ways.
Yes unfortunately I experienced the same thing from some people, but overall I have very positive memories of Egypt, and I really enjoyed my experience there. Some English signs would certainly make things easier haha
Man I would really love that. I was actually planning to visit this year but visas for Canadians were suspended after the diplomatic spat. Hopefully I can visit in the near future.
Yes I always carry camping gear so that I can wild-camp for free and save money. Plus camping is always an adventure. I travel with just one big travel backpack
@@benbrazyoutube I imagine you have to check it as luggage? Or can you get away as hand carry within the weight limits? Tents and other things are heavy
Thanks again for the recommendation Cédric! Maybe I will try to include that at the beginning of my next trip, but I also like when the video / series stands alone, separate from my personal life outside of travel. Like boom, this is where I am, this is what I'm doing, everything else is irrelevant. But yeah maybe I could quickly discuss the reason for each trip at the beginning of the series.
@@benbrazyoutube That would be great. I am off to Krakow on Monday, then to Paris, back to Virginia then off to Cozumel for the winter. Your language skills, hiking ability, and amiable nature make you the perfect traveler. Someday we will hike again. Cheers.

Awesome thank you for clearing that up Ahmed! I eventually managed to find my way, and I haven't had any trouble getting around since then 😅
you are an adventurous man. i am Egyptian and i speak Arabic but i would never take a bus in Cairo.
Haha oh really eh? Yeah it wasn't an easy experience for me
Ooh! Egypt. Can't wait to dive into this one. My Mom was there this fall and I loved seeing her photos.
So I heard! We had a nice chat about Egypt. Glad to have you along for the journey cuz 😊
Hey there, sorry I only noticed your comment now! The bus fare was 7 EGP (about US$0.30) and the journey took around 45 minutes.
Tajamu khames is a district in east cairo , its not down town at all , you need to go to Tahrir square or Ramses square .
inorder to go to city centre
Thank you for letting me know for next time!

Also came to say that, I'm fluent in english but this is the first time I have heard it used to explain city centre!
True, I usually use word "City Centre" instead 😊

Ohh haha it's always funny when you can understand why there is confusion. I had no idea what was going on 😅
Wow , what a bus run around , lol . Looking forward to this series .
Awesome I'm glad to have you along for the journey Mike!
The most IMPORTANT, how much was the bus ticket No 400 in EGP to the downtown?
It was very cheap, maybe 5 EGP or so

Do you have to fill out a bunch of paperwork to get a Visa at the airport?
Actually the immigration process was very quick and simple. Just a regular tourist visa on arrival
Nicely done ✅. My passport 🛂 is accurate, so they shouldn't deny me a Visa for a silly reason.
Again no intro context about how/why/when you ended up in that country. Would be nice to have some kind of explanation 😃

Eu também gostei muito da minha experiência! Foi ótimo 👍
Heck yeah!!
CAN I take Uber from Airport to hotel
I imagine you could, but don't know for sure
Man just use ur phone to lookup those numbers on the bus. U could have made ur life easier.
Didn't have a SIM card yet as I just arrived in the country
Just take a cab my guy
Haha but that's not as much of an adventure 😅
مدينة نصر القاهرة
Nasr city cairo
Awesome!
Which airport as there are two

Pretty darn cool.
Thanks Art! Where are we meeting up next?

Unfortunately I won't have time on this trip, but I hope to return one day soon!
Are coming back to Morocco? Maghribi fi Canada
Not this year, unfortunately! Hopefully one day though!
I will just take the taxi because it is easier and safer
Yeah I understand that. Maybe one day i will do the same 😆
😎👌🏻
Gotta do your research man before arriving in any city…eh. ;)
Haha sure, but I also like just winging it sometimes
