This game needs custom door and ladder placement ASAP.
Totally agree and we all know Modders are going to have all the QoL fixes we're already asking for but it's unfortunate the game didn't ship with what seems obvious to be in the base game.
If you lock the habs together pull it off and put it back on it should only be connected that way. Worked with me at least.
@@Gubble-oq6dnyou can influence it a bit by hitting G on a node, placing the part, then moving the part HOWEVER if you then connect a part that creates a new entrance it can cause a mix-up.
A pre-visual of the layout and placement of entryways and ladders would be lovely
@@jonimriska9157 Indeed. Even with me being as careful as possible, like allowing the Hab to snap where it wants and coming up with a ladder, it will still delete some interior objects from time to time.
One thing to note about the Nova Galactic habs, is that the Armory, Workshop, and Science Lab all have 2 passenger slots each. Making them ideal for a passenger carrier.
Adding a hallway inside the security room is nice for immersion, I always thought about prison break and make sure the guards has a place to retreat 😂
Agreed.
I like to use brigs as my entrance from a side docker. Makes me feel like I’m walking into a starship instead of the ladder being there making it feel like a submarine lol
Interesting take on it.
I do this too, just with the cargo halls (long hauler background on my character)
@@jerrypocalypse1180 ya it just makes no sense for a cargo bay to be only accessible by ladder. i always try to make it so that the layout is realistic so if I put a cargo bay, it has to be accessed directly through the landing bay.
Thanks for these, makes choosing the habs a lot easier than going around to all the shipyards and swapping them out.
Indeed it does and you're welcome.
My landing bay comes up into the little room at the front of the brig, it gives me a bed right by the entrance for emergency XP sleeps and the layout fits from a RP point of view (the desk is kind of a reception desk and guards the entrance to the rest of the ship)
Great idea!
Dude it's been so cool to see thees videos pop up. I started watching at the All-In-Ones and seeing new comparisons has really helped me shape how I'm building my ships.
Forklift item was probably brought in with the gravity off.
🤣
Just started watching, but what i hope they will allow us to do in the future is the ability to capture. All the bounty missions want dead, that i have seen. What if i want to take them in alive? Is that even a thing? If not... brig seems superfluous. 😔
Yes hell, 100% agree.
I mean, they gave us non lethal weapons, but they're only useful in like 3 missions for me so far, in the vanguard mission to pacify the mob, and in pirate quests where you don't want to piss off angry ucsec captain man by wiping out civilians or marines of sneaking in doesn't work.
Hopefully it's implemented later
As someone with experience 😅 Taiyo is the best brig overall. The only thing to change is to have the empty space be a day room with cafeteria tables and some shelves with games. Also remove the desk in the middle of the room.
One of the better things about this game is the ship-building system, but man, this game really needs to improve door placement. I hope that some modder will fix it!
Me too.
Feels like the Briggs were supposedly part of a gameplay feature that was abandoned.
Also, how the heck do you close the door once opened from the computer (same in armory) 😂
That very well could be and I haven't found out how to close them once opened.
Wait we can't use the brigs? It's just... Cosmetic?
so, given that shroud/deimos and hope/tayo are just recolours, who else is waiting for the dlc that gives us the black orange version of nova?
Yes please!
Very educational
Thank you.
What astonishes me about these brigs is, how much space is allocated for guard stations, big desks and misc stuff and how little is actually reserved for the holding cells. It's all just so incredibly inefficient!
For real. BGS clearly wasn't looking at space efficiency when creating these Habs.
After you're done reviewing ship habs, maybe you could review player homes?
I think the seats on either side of the lower bunk in the Deimos/Stroud cells are meant to be some kind of flip up toilet
God I am super hoping they add a game mechanic to actually use the brig. I have a bounty hunter character for gods sake i should be able to bring them in alive or cold.
I like the Deimos Brig. If one gets the Accespoints to the ship in front of the "office area" one would have a nice defensible position in case of a prison break or boarding action. If those things were ever to be implemented
Btw, have you found a way to *close* the brig doors again?
I have not, not in the Brigs nor the Armories that have the mini Brigs.
On the nova one, I think if i could replace the video console with the directors table.. and get a armory.. I would take it any day.
I think i prefere Taiyo or Hope Tech - just because they have the armory and cells with toilets.
If Bethesda would allow us to edit the interiors similarly to how we can in our Outposts, all would be solved.
@@delindsay yeah. Im sure the modding community will come to our rescue if Bethesda doesnt - x)
I'm less interested in the Brigs themselves and more interested in the potential future content they may imply. Why allow players to put a Brig on their ship if you aren't planning on allowing them to take or transport prisoners? Maybe Bethesda will add prison transport jobs where you can take on prisoners to transport from one planet to another or allow you to board enemy ships and take prisoners to sell back to their faction. Maybe there would be a chance of a prisoner staging a breakout attempt and you and your crew would have to fight them off without killing them. Lots of potential there but right now the Brig seems to serve zero purpose.
Here's hoping for that kind of content.
have you done cockpits? i know that'd be a drag, but it'd be cool.
Cockpits are last... because yeah, it'll be a drag.
I’m really not a fan of any of the brigs and I can’t think of a good reason to use them
I find them as meh.
Is it just the nova brig that crew sleep in? Or do all of the brigs provide beds for crew? Id rather the crew didnt sleep in them, which if its only the 2 bed brig I would avoid, but if they all do that then id prefer the 2 bed brigs because it lowers the chance of crew deciding to sleep in them...
I've seen them sleep in any and all Brigs/Armories. It's not as often as the regular beds but they certainly use them.
It's kind of a sad state when the brigs have more beds than the living quarters....
Right?
Only Nova’s living quarters have
The Nova brig is the only one that makes sense. Who in their right mind would put an armory inside such a small brig? Whoever you capture/put in there can escape and use that armory to bite you in the ass. Each cell also has its own sink & toilet, so the captive won't have any excuse to use the toilet for the crew manning that hab, you know, to escape. I know the brig serves no purpose in the game now, but I bet Bethesda will add something in the future for it, either as a DLC or paid mod.
The only bad thing about the Nova brig is that each cell only has 1 bed. It makes sense, but not make full use of the space considering we don't have bigger brig, like a 3x2 one. Also, I think a brig should be a bit dark, not too bright, not too dark. It's a place for the naughty after all.
I do hope there'll be some use for them in the future.
Nova Galactic's layout with Stroud Eklund's styling would be prime.
I could get behind that merging of 2 Manufacturer's style.
We should be able to choose the colouring and lighting at LEAST man it’s killer
Why are some doors rectangular and others circular?
Main bulkhead doors vs ancillary ones? Also, my guess would be Fore-Aft are usually the big doors while Port-Stbd are the smaller ones.
DAY-mos
Does the brig have a practical use? It looks cool but takes space for no reason
No, you're pretty much correct.
Is a brigg needed for any reason other than aesthetic in this game?
Nothing that I'm aware of. It DOES give additional beds for your Crew to sleep in.
I don't see why we need a brig at all.. no passenger slots, no crew stations, not even cargo. Thanks for the video as always! You do best (and only) reviews on those modules)
You're welcome and at this time in the game I also see no reason for the Brigs, other than aesthetic or RP.
IKR? They don't even have equivalent functionality for storing weapons & ammo compared to the 2x1 Armory habs!
I was using the Stroud Ekland Brig but i like the idea of using Nova Galactic because you said the crew would use the sleeping space. Maybe that's keep them from using MY bed again. LOL, the shock on my face when i found a crewmen using my captains bed because i didn't have enough on the ship LOL. EDIT: hmmm i might have to unlock it, i can't seem to find it for sell on Titan.
Level requirement? I want to say I've been seeing 2x2 and larger at their respective Staryards since pretty early on, maybe 12-14 or so.
@@delindsay Nah its gotta be something else. My levels pretty high, i didn't do much of the main story yet, so it mush be locked behind something. I have the Brigs size for Stroud but not the others, so i wonder how that happened.
@@IN-tm8mwmaybe starship design bro?
@@EP_mc Definitely not that as I still haven't put a single point in it or Pilot.
@@IN-tm8mw Maybe it's main storyline blocked but that would be odd imho.
I could have sworn you did one of these vids on the 2x1 armories, but I'm not seeing it in your playlist...
It's the 1st in the series, 'Fix Empty Ships':

@@delindsay Cool, I'll check that out again, BTW I love how you often reference Serenity feel/flavor. currently working on a Serenity build in the Reaver style from when they disguised it in the movie.
@@ozgamergdu I've been wanting to do a Reaver build badly but I don't think there's enough spikey bits to put on our Ships right now.
@@delindsay Yeah there's not much to work with but I think I got something that works, with some interior serenity flavour too. just in the process of backwards engineering my creation and organizing my parts list. then seeing if I can remember how to put it all back together... Shiny & spikey!
@@ozgamergdu I look forward to seeing it!
Hopetech armory is the best brig in the game currently, lol.
Heh.
Can someone make a mod to put the bounties in here
I'm sure they will once the Geck or w/e the Creation Club thing is comes out.
Wow the brigs don't add crew or passenger slots, weird!
Indeed, they seem like an unfinished project.
@@delindsay Maybe with the disruptors, you were supposed to be able to catch live bounties and bring them in, but it never got implemented / is waiting for a DLC.
@@ObsceneSuperMatt Time will tell. At least we know the Modding community will add all the things that should've been in the base game once Creation Club is out.
Need a reason to build a brig
Yeah, at this time the only reasons I can see are aesthetic and RP. There are superior options for 2x2's that actually do something, add Workstations, Passenger count, etc.
"Die-mos."
*Everyone who played AC Odyssey: "Its Dee-mos!"
It's neither. It's pronounced, "Thee-mos."
