    Hi, Alicia! Thanks for showing us how to use a crockpot to make frozen chicken breast. This is so convenient since we don't have to babysit it, and we don't have to remember to defrost the chicken the night before. This chicken could be used in a ton of different recipes. Thanks again, Alicia!

    Is chicken one of those meats that if it cooks longer it gets juicer like stew meat or dryer? Wanting to do this overnight but concerned it will be dry after too long. Thanks!

    • @AliciaLynnYT
      @AliciaLynnYT  3 месяца назад +1

      Lean meats like chicken can dry out if cooked too long. They need a lot less cooking time than something like stew meat, for best results!

    This is very useful. Assuming I’ve done a few frozen breasts in this way and shredded them to be ready for gradual use in recipes, how long would such shredded chicken stay in the fridge without spoiling? I’m not talking hot summers, as I only eat meat in late autumn, winter and early spring. Thank you for the video!

    • @ellediane4972

      I actually called a home economist at my county extension office because I've been so confused. According to the FDA, the chicken stays in the unsafe temperature zone for too long when cooking from frozen in a crockpot.
      It has nothing to do with quality, i.e., taste, texture, it's a safety issue. The home economist said food can only be at room temperature for 2 hrs before bacteria forms. But, if the temp is 90 or higher, it goes down to a 1 hour safety window.
      Since the crockpot is above 90 degrees inside, that means the chicken would need to go from frozen to a safe internal temperature in one hour, which isn't possible in a crockpot.
