I may have to revisit this video in the near future. Every time I go in Dollar Tree I find new things that I could use in a budget kit. If you’d like to see a version 2.0 of this and possibly a kit test run, let me know 👍
Decent substitute for a metal bottle. Get a bottle of Gatorade. The plastic is decently tough with a wide mouth for easy refilling and some cordage can be tied in the middle ridge around the bottle for a sling. You've already got those aluminum pans but id recommend some heavy duty foil and if possible either a metal bread pan or a metal dog bowl. Id replace that duct tape with the black heavy duty duct tape. The grey tape is really only good for arts and crafts. I'd also get some paracord to pair with the jute twine. Id also get either a tin mints or a puzzle tin to make charcloth with. Some dollar trees also sell cotton t shirts you could make into charcloth as well. Id add some heavy duty garbage bags fir both shelter, bedding, storage and energency ponchos. And while they dont carry real backpacks most do carry some cheap bags. Usually either tote bags or large drawstring bags you can throw over your shoulder.
I haven't done this in a while. Never the less, it's a good excercise in seeing what one can put together. Familarizing with the gear. Understanding what/how it can help, how one wants to organize and the deployment/access of items like having a poncho up top for example.
I’m dying to get outdoors and actually try some of this stuff out. Just gotta get some time away from work where the weather is at least halfway decent. A little rain doesn’t bother me but, this snow in April is for the birds! I’m always rearranging and rethinking the kits I make to try to make them as practical and useable as possible. I won’t lie and say that it isn’t fun to do though. I hope that I never have to use any of my kit builds in a shtf scenario but it’s nice knowing I have stuff on hand that I can grab in a hurry.
Might I suggest one or two of their packs of asprin. They're small packs, so they don't take up much space and can help if someone gets a really high fever.
Oh and maybe adding one of the little saws from the tool section would be good...wouldn't fit in that box but will fit in the drawstring bags that can usually be found there. I've used those dollar saws, and while not a pleasure to use, it beats the heck out of using a steak knife to cut branches.
Some tea candles would be perfect for a camp stove setup. The plastic still would a purpose. Just store the smaller items in the bottle to save space for the box.
For a short term emergency this isn't bad, especially if one swapped out the dollar knife for something along the lines of a Mora Companion or equivalent. I'd much rather have that kit than most of the pre-made kits under $50 that I've seen.
Probably the best Dollar Tree kit video I've watched but I hate the foldable tins I've just had too many get holes at the corner they have dollar bleach to pair with the bags or a folded up water bottle also some kind of gloves but awesome video love your channel
This really isn’t any different than any other kit. Just cheaper items. Most of it will work just as good as more expensive items. Maybe not as long but will work all the same.
A dollar store or dollar 🌲 my not b the best 4 a survival kit but would b good 2 ✋ out 2 survivors as charity 4 those of us who don't want 2 take these people in but want 2 give them at least a fighting chance

Everything you named, can you find in a dollar tree?
@@katyrebel18 yup. It varies by location but all those things can be found in dollar tree.
Dollar tree has varying stock from region to region...I've even seen small machetes and hatchets at a dollar tree, though only once.
@@shaynecarter-murray3127 i know of those but never seen any. Ive found tiny hack saws tho.
Shower curtain was a cool idea. Thanks for sharing!

thanks for sharing. You have some good ideas. always enjoy these types of kit videos.
I would switch out the poncho 4 a full box of the largest garbage bags & the dice 4 a pack of regular playing cards
Dollar tree has a big variety would love to see more 👌🏽👀
I have 3 of them and a Real Deals within 20 minutes of where I live. I’ll definitely do an updated kit later and then take it out and use it.

Unfortunately I can’t take aspirin because of my blood pressure. Tylenol only. But, I could add it in case I have someone else along with me 👍
I love shopping at dollar tree sometimes I find great finds
I used too. But now that they raised it to $1.25, you can find a lot of stuff cheaper elsewhere. Inflation sucks!
@@NEP_Chris yes that’s true
Fun...and useful information....very smart..and being honest about forgetting the baby wipes...Proves you’re not some egomaniac jerk! Great video
Brilliant video and packed with as much information as that container is stuffed with! Well done.
Dollar stores have more options than people realize! 😃

pretty good kit for a dollar store...maybe a pair of gloves? like the cheap gardening kind? or some wire...either snare or picture hanging wire...
Great idea, brilliant video

what a great kit
Awesome. Cheers

Wow! Great stuff in that kit!! I just saw you in Annie FB group. Congratulations 🎉 and ....New subscriber here! 😊
What of those items would you keep in a standard kit?
This really isn’t any different than any other kit. Just cheaper items. Most of it will work just as good as more expensive items. Maybe not as long but will work all the same.
Never underestimate the usefulness of electrical tape.
And zip ties.
Dice? Gotta get that Yahtzee in!
If you’re stuck somewhere in a shitty situation, it’s nice to have something to pass the time or keep your mind occupied.
@@NEP_Chris Yeah guess also more waterproof than playing cards!
@@randomrickreviewsrrr4662 actually, I have a nice set of waterproof playing cards too.
Wow

My dollar store has garbage
Ours is headed that way. I was going to do a follow up but the selection was just horrible.
