@@ruskyalmond1977 I think you’re probably correct that ogres have been around longer, as there have been ogre models in Warhammer fantasy since at least the late 80s/early 90s. I think their backstory was pretty minimal though, as they were a part of the dogs of war mercenary faction, and weren’t a fully fleshed race until they got their first army book in the 6th edition, published in 2005. I don’t recall ever reading any background lore about them, or the great maw, etc prior to then. That was the first time they had a nomadic/steppe theme to them as well, and the first time characters like Greasus Goldtooth & Skrag the slaughterer made an appearance. As for the Tyranids, their first Codex was in 1995 for the second edition of 40k, although I think genestealers by themselves were around before that in Rogue Trader. I could be mistaken though, Rogue Trader and Dogs of war books were both a bit before my time playing the game.
@@the_dropbear4392 No they haven't. Stop spreading misinformation. Truly the strength of the Ogres is only outmatched by their monstrous gluttony and hunger for carnage. Is there truly anything at all that the Ogres won't eat?
Being an Ogre they probably don't really mind whatever Rank they hold since at the end of the day its all about eating and they got little green Gnoblers to do shit for them.. Rank is just who gets the first bite and who gives orders.
When a vampire catches a human they leave behind a dried out husk when a werewolf catches a human relief behind a pile of bone what an ogre catches a werewolf vampire or human they leave behind a pile of shit

I remember one bit of early ogre lor was that any greenskin who dared to harm an ogre child would be eaten alive , bit by bit, with plenty of spicy sauce. Rather admirable IMHO
The warhammer fantasy Ogres are the proper equivalent of the 40K Orkz, they are joyful, enjoy a great fight, obtain what they want and wear armors of scrap, the warhammer fantasy orcs are too serious, too edgy and reckless, leaning more on the violent and dark side rather than the joyfulness and sillyness the 40k Orkz have

Gorbad ironclaw is very serious along with grimgore but Warzhag, grom the Paunch and Skarsnik are not (Skarsnik does get depression during the end times though). Point is they are not a serious faction it’s just that their main leader (Grimgore) in the end times is a serious orc which makes sense he’s a Black orc which were specifically designed to be bigger more disciplined and angry. I know what a goblin is and I was not referring to them
Hi. I've never seen warhammer before. What are those strange green things seen in multiple clips during this video? They look like an important part of this species culture, but I don't think you even mentioned them? Ar they just baby ogres? Is that why they weren't mentioned?
@@EPICoutcast24 I've seen it's pretty clear that they're Goblin cousins. And they don't only exist in the Ogre Kingdoms. They're not servants, but straight up subservient slaves. And they're not the only slaves that Ogres have.
Gnoblars are greenskins so pathetic and weak that goblins take our all the bullying orcs do to then on them, so they prefer to live under the ogres, who will merely treat them like a slave and occasionally eat them when a meal is taking a little longer
@@ruskyalmond1977 in many cases, more pet than slave, wholly subservient and beneath, yes, but the ogres do gain a certain attachment and protective fondness for particular gnoblars.
The Gnoblars are a diminutive breed of Greenskin, cowardly and dull-witted. Basically what you’d get if you split the difference between a Goblin and a Snotling. The Ogres found them, determined that they were both inherently servile (and, far more importantly, not very tasty) and decided to make slaves of them instead of meals. They serve much the same role as they would in Greenskin society: doing everything their larger masters can’t or won’t, and surviving off of their discarded scraps. Gnoblar status is derived entirely from the status of the Ogre that owns them, which is displayed by the unique pattern of the hole bitten into their ear by the Ogre in question. The role in Ogre society that Gnoblars fill was actually intended by the Old Ones for the Halflings, who were created separately from the Ogres and were completed by the time the Old Ones were cut off from the _Warhammer Fantasy_ world, unlike the Ogres who are still ‘half-baked’, in a manner of speaking.
I kind of regret CA giving the ogres a southern UK accent. They sound too similar to orcs. I suppose they don't want offensive fake Mongol accents but I would have liked something unique
strictly speaking they were mutated by the wild chaos winds high upon the mountains during the war with the sky titans. Those ogres who stayed too high for too long were changed to suit the frigid conditions. This the yetis were born. the 6th ed book even talks about them like "brothers lost" "no fun at a feast anymore, but they aint forgotten how to fight."
it is/was actually a quite common theory. It didnt help that GW wasnt quite sure if warhammer fantasy and 40K was in the same universe which only spurred more rumours. That is also why some have mentioned that Sigmar was one of two lost primachs. However, since GW has since confirmed that there is no connection, then it kind of moot ...... except they again opened up for it a bit by saying that chaos is multidimensional and exists in more universes and characters can go from one universe (40K) to another (fantasy) through the warp. That is also why in one of end time books there are several hints that they actually in some way are connected. 2 biggest are: 1. when the skaven crack a lizardmen vault they get hold of some old one technology aka a "far squeker" - skaven for some telephonic device. They get surprised by it actually working and the language coming out of it is Elvish, which some theorise to be the Eldar 2. When some wood elf hero is tasked of getting Nurgles Pox Fulgrim in his garden, he and his band are helped by an armoured knight which is discribed as looking alot like a grey knight of 40k
@@SamueL-td7fb I cant remember. All i rememver is that Araloth the wood elf needs to save the Pox Fulgrum from Nurgle which is the god Shallya, the god of healing. He is in company with a lost chaos sorcerer and unnamed knigth of immense size clad in grey armour. My 40k lore is not that good but i seem to recall some grey knight going into nurgle garden and getting stuck there to buy time for his fellow Grey knight. I think it was Kaldor Draigo
I don't think they've done anything on the high elves. Aside from that, they've often focused on more particular things rather than factions as a whole, so whilst they done video on the dwarfen Slayer Cult, they could easily do a video about the dwarf engineer guilds or something, for example, so on, so forth.
There are many not even present in the games. They exist and have entire countries, nations, and empires. There is an entire goblin empire styled off of mongols too, and they're literally not playable in any game whatsoever. Yet they're a FUCKING EMPIRE. There's even a few races in the Warhammer version of India alone. There's easily over 100 nations. And if you wanted to do sub-factions within factions you'd have a few thousand.

Also fantasy standard. How it has been done many times.
I mean Ogres love to fight and subsequently eat anything right? So would there be any reason for them to naturally go toe to toe with undead? I get they can essentially eat anything but rotten food must have less calories, nutrition than good food, not to mention it would likely taste horrible even if they did eat it. But I mean you can't eat ghosts and empty old bones aren't going to make for a convincing feast. I would imagine they would be willing to ignore Vamp counts, Vamp coast and Tomb kings right until they had to fight em. The other races, humans, elves, dwarves, demons, lizards, skaven, beastmen and greenskins all would make a fine feast?

The warhammer fantasy Ogres are the proper equivalent of the 40K Orkz, they are joyful, enjoy a great fight, obtain what they want and wear armors of scrap, the warhammer fantasy orcs are too serious, too edgy and reckless, leaning more on the violent and dark side rather than the joyfulness and sillyness the 40k Orkz have
40k orks are just like fantasy orcs. People only think of them as joyful and silly due to memes.
Lore paints them as horrifying, ragefuled beasts

@@Nekrotik_Underlord they (orcs) are definitely not serious. Grimgore ironhide was serious and I guess as he’s the orc most people who are new to fantasy learn about get the idea that the orca are serious but trust me they are not, Azhag seems serious at first until you read the story and laugh everytime Nagash’s helmet takes over his mind and they argue like lunatics in the middle of battle.
Gnoblars, servant species to the ogres. Unclear lore on whether their a goblin offshoot or not
@@EPICoutcast24 I've seen it's pretty clear that they're Goblin cousins.
I tend to agree. they do keep a number of other aesthetic aspects that still evoke the more euraisian feel, like the music and hair styles.
Hungry hippos man those are some hungry hungry ogre's
Damn. Always thought yetis were another type of troll.
strictly speaking they were mutated by the wild chaos winds high upon the mountains during the war with the sky titans. Those ogres who stayed too high for too long were changed to suit the frigid conditions. This the yetis were born. the 6th ed book even talks about them like "brothers lost" "no fun at a feast anymore, but they aint forgotten how to fight."
So they’re Mongols?

is it just me or does this ""great Mouth"" sound like a tyranid of some kind waiting to be discovered by the rest of the swarm.
it is/was actually a quite common theory.
2 biggest are:
1. when the skaven crack a lizardmen vault they get hold of some old one technology aka a "far squeker" - skaven for some telephonic device. They get surprised by it actually working and the language coming out of it is Elvish, which some theorise to be the Eldar
2. When some wood elf hero is tasked of getting Nurgles Pox Fulgrim in his garden, he and his band are helped by an armoured knight which is discribed as looking alot like a grey knight of 40k
@@Wankers001 What is the book/lore for the second one if you don't mind?

How many factions exist in Warhammer Fantasy? You have to be starting to run out, right?

The story of the Nephilims rewritten.
How?
@@srbrant5391 - Don't you know the story of the Nephilims?! And haven't you realised that we had this type of story many times before?!
Genetically altered creatures. Sometimes they're beautiful, pale, superhuman. Like elves or Valyrians. Or Melnibonéans. Or Geralt of Rivia and his mutant, less fair kind.
Sometimes they are not. But ugly, cannibalistic and repellent. Like ogres. Or sometimes like any kind of mixed, altered creature.
They rule. But usually, something drastic will happen. The doom. The FLOOD, really. In this case Heavenly Beings - angels - appear to end the ogres' reign.
Thus, the Nephilims get thrown off their throne, their kingdoms are destroyed and the offspring of unholy experiments get scattered to distant lands. Where they are no less a disturbance. Because evil does not change to good.
That's how.
All the while in many cases the humans are the real enemy. The planet does not belong to the them, they come after every other race and are a pest to the creation, of course. They're the true monsters despite the atrocities done by the actual monster.

Effectively yes. The fluff says their layers of fat make them resistant to arrows and firearms. That said, the weapons of the warhammer old world were low velocity arquibeses and muskets, so they probably wouldn't fair well against 20th century type firearms.
@@glitterboy2098 they would probably be good against lower caliber rounds but larger ones especially ones meant for big game they would die pretty quick
