    THank you that was super helpful! I have avoided nearpod forever because I made the mistake of trying to MAKE one. I started with the library and the Google Slides add-on this year and I am SO much happier for it! This is working so well with distance learning because student's can be DOING something. I love it, thanks for sharing!

    Thanks, Teacher Brett, this was so helpful! I have been trying to learn a lot of new tools this summer since we're going to be teaching on Zoom during the fall, at least, and I didn't feel like learning Nearpod, which was the tool on my to-do list for today. But your video has really made me want to try this wonderful tool and I will definitely be in touch if I have specific questions. You made a great video--thanks again!! You have really benefitted my students. ~Margot

    I don't use Nearpod for my kinder classroom, but I used it during intervention (tutoring) for older students. It is great for student engagement (unless you have students in a rural area with glitchy internet connection).

How do I teach them to keep the Zoom screen open but pull up a blank tab, paste in the link to the nearpod, and manage the zoom and nearpod tab side by side on one screen? I explained that they had to click to record first and then click on the text. None of them were able to record themselves. I turned on the ability to recon when I made the slide. When I did the preview, it worked. Do you know what I may have done incorrectly? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

    I’m thinking I will be investing in Nearpod. Question: how do you do live sessions via zoom? How do they have their zoom open at the same time as Nearpod? I can’t figure out what that looks like. Sorry... I’m an older teacher struggling with virtual teaching.

    • @TeacherBrett
      @TeacherBrett  4 года назад +2

      You will give them the link while you are in zoom. When they click the link it will open up a new screen with the Nearpod lesson. They can still hear you through the open zoom tab but they will be viewing the Nearpod lesson tab. You can then go through the lesson, in the live mode you will control when the slides move on their screen!

      @@TeacherBrett Thanks. Just to clarify, if I start Zoom meeting with the students I would not be able to monitor the zoom call and the Nearpod at the same time. If I share my screen then they will not see me anymore. The same thing goes for the students as well, if they work on Nearpod they would not see me in Zoom. Can you clarify exactly what you suggest we do?

      Nader Mehdawi you would not be sharing your screen, you will give them the link or code and they will open nearpod in a new window on their side. When you use zoom the students can see you on video and hear you. They would just have two screens open. I notice nearpod actually made a video about using zoom over on their RUclips channel this weekend as well so check that out!

      Nader Mehdawi but also when you share your screen in zoom students can still see your video just so you are aware!

    Thank you! I've been so confused trying to figure out how to use Nearpod. Is there any place for a discussion in asynchronous lessons?

      Yes, there is. If you include a collaborative activity, learners who are logged in at the time will be able to see each other's posts. However, they cannot comment against the said posts yet. I hope this helps.

    How do you use gifs in nearpod?

  • @gem2186

    When you use the draw it function, does it require students to print a physical copy or interact with it on their device using their finger/stylus or mouse as a “writing tool”?

    • @TeacherBrett
      @TeacherBrett  4 года назад +1

      Brianti Williams they do not need to print, they can use their mouse or touch screen to draw directly on it!

    Is there a way to give kids feedback on Nearpod?

    • @TeacherBrett

      nancy wyant not directly through nearpod. You can however show them the correct answer when they do a quiz and get the question wrong.

    Could you show how we can edit a lesson?

    Nearpod gave me the free access, but many of the lessons still require payment. Is that accurate?

    • @TeacherBrett
      @TeacherBrett  4 года назад

      Did you just sign up for the free access or did you contact them about getting the covid19 free access? I’m not sure what the covid19 access gets you but I believe it is more than just the typical free level plan. You can always make your own lessons for free.

      @@TeacherBrett They gave me temporary gold access. A collaborate slide I created in a lesson indicated that students have no access when I tried it out as a student. Would you know where I could change this? The nearpod team is not available until Monday and I needed to get it going by Sunday. Thanks so much for your help in advance.

      Yes I can help! Click in the top right corner of your home page where the circle is for your account. Then click the settings button next to your name. Go to advanced settings and scroll down to where it says enable collaborate for student paced lessons!
