    Great Vid as usual, I have another tip for you, this can be and should be applied IMO to any RC with heatsink/fan combo.
    So the Maxx had a problem with breaking the blades on the fans, and there’s plenty of “fixes” on RUclips for the older Maxx about that and also Traxxas put foam(which your Maxx should have) to prevent blades from breaking BUT I haven’t seen one for adding foam underneath the fan in between fan and heatsink.
    I have broken a few plastic fans where the blades were fine but the arms that hold the fan in midair fail and break and make the fan useless even though no blades broke. In most cases an aluminum fan will correct the issue, In some cases you are not able to fit an aluminum fan.
    So what I do to have full protection of my fans is
    Place a thick enough self adhesive foam that will support the bottom of the fan and make contact with the heatsink beneath the fan just enough so it supports the fan and the g-forces do not take a toll on the arms holding the fan and break. Normally I place it on the fan sticker that tells you the specs( DC Brushless fan/ 6v/ Brand name). You can tell it’s thick enough because the foam will have formed to the heat sink and leave an impression. I do this for both motor and ESC.
    Sorry to make you read so much.

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout 3 года назад

      Thanks for the tips man! So far no issues…so the adhesive goes under the fan blades right up against the heatsink? How does the adhesive hold when the heatsink gets hot?

    • @RFHX2_6.0
      @RFHX2_6.0 3 года назад +1

      @@RCKnockout On your Maxx, let’s pretend you took off the Motor fan housing , so you would remove the 4 screws and unclip the fan housing.
      You turn the fan housing upside down to see the fan. The fan stays in place, apply the foam to the side of the fan you can see while it’s in the housing, it should be the side of the fan that won’t spin when the truck is on.
      If you stick it to the heatsink it’ll attract dust and dirt from the gaps. I hope that makes sense

    • @RFHX2_6.0
      @RFHX2_6.0 3 года назад

      So after you apply the foam you reinstall the fan housing back on to the motor heatsink just like you removed it and sandwich the foam between the fan and the heatsink.
      One time I put too thick of a foam and the fan would bind and not spin so just check for that.

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout 3 года назад

      @@RFHX2_6.0 So the adhesive goes under the fan blades resting on the fan mount? Not the motor heatsink?

    • @RFHX2_6.0
      @RFHX2_6.0 3 года назад +1

      @@RCKnockout I think I’m confusing you, and there isn’t any modifications, all that will be used is foam and it can be easily removed if you chose to do so like if nothing was ever done.
      You would apply the foam on what would be the bottom face( when installed) of the fan that is stationary that faces the heat sink.
      For example on your slash the “V” velineon fan kit for the ESC. That has a specification sticker that’s silver and green and the wires are visible coming from the fan motor. That is the side you would apply it, right on the silver and green specification sticker.

    Cool, I took my Maxx to my local track and it was a handful to drive but it did well until the steel spur gear it had got destroyed the pinion was fine. but i went ahead and ordered the stock setup the 24t pinion and 50t spur i'll see if it works or if i'll have to gear it back down. in that order i got parts to convert my stampede 4x4 into a hoss so i don't have to buy another vehicle and get rid of the other one.

      Belted tires offer more control but less top speed. I also acheived 55 mph on the stock tires but lost 10 mph with a set of Proline Defenders which annoys the crap out of me. Had I known, I would have stuck with the shit stock tires. All in all, I have grown bored of the Maxx and Traxxas products as a whole. All of the propeitary nonsense makes this tough to modify. Plus, owning both a Talion exb and the new Kraton 8s exb plus an Hpi Wr8, the Maxx is pretty inferior to all of those. It is impressive it hits 55 mph but only in near perfect situations in terms of a long and smooth road and in moderate temperatures. Most of the time it hovers around 50 mph. My other vechiles will hit tops speeds without everything being perfect but then again each is significantly more powerful. At the end of the day this is an overpriced piece of plastic designed for entry level rc people hence the lack of power.

      Need to add a Trx4 in as a trail truck. I've got both a Defender and the '79 Bronco with a Hobbywing Fusion 1800KV in each. With a 3s Traxxas pack I still haven't hit the low voltage cutoff and I typically hike about 7+ miles. Mixed Crawling, "high" speed runs and some small jumping in at random in each hike.
      Not bashing the Summit, it's a cool truck. Just passing along some future advice.
      I've got a backlog of video I need to edit and post on my channel, I've been having issues with my GoPro. Took my Bronco out today and got some video on my phone that I'm going to upload tonight or tomorrow. If the weather holds I'm taking my Defender out to a local state park. Feel free to check it out.
