Johnny you should make a video about this intersecting sonic cancelled game called “Sonic X-treme” it has a cool story and was tended to be the first Sonic the Hedgehog game to make into 3D I understand if you don’t make a video about.Anyway nice video and thanks for the sonic 1990 video😎.
The story starts with Tails kicking something and causing trouble then ends with Sonic kicking something more competently and ending the trouble. What a classy way to dunk on Tails.
@@shroomzed2947 That is extremely disheartening... Sonic is supposed to be more of a cool big brother to Tails who protects him, especially in the early days. Canon Sonic has never once even been mean to Tails throughout the games, cartoons, or American comics.
The fact that we were able to renew interest in Sonic the Comic and its characters is something I am so immensely thankful for. Super Sonic has been one of my favourite obscure Sonic characters for a long time now, and being known for the talents behind his voice & song is an honour, honestly. I’d love to see interest renewed in other characters such as Shortfuse the Cybernik or the Brotherhood of Metallix without more FNF mods necessarily having to be made, lol.
Didn't even know Extra Life was in a FNF mod. First time I heard about him was from seeing the video trailer for his Sonic 3 AIR mod. His concept is overall really cool and a nice twist on the evil-clone trope, that being a backup created to aid the original but went rogue instead (likely because of his capsule prison and merely being a backup getting to him). Wonder if any fan stories regarding Extra Life might surface?
Everytime i learn something new about Sonic, i am just amazed. Probably one big reason why i am never planning on leaving the community. Even if Sega drops Sonic Labyrinth 4
Having grown up in the US, I'm far more familiar with the Archie comics, so the Fleetway comics are new territory for me. Really interesting to learn all this new stuff!
You know, this would explain why Current Modern Sonic doesn't look, act or sound like the OG Sonic from Sonic X - Sonic Unleashed. *The real Sonic is trapped in a monitor and replaced by a doppelganger with a deeper voice, shorter quills, and immature attitude.*
@fighting media lounge Well that was the last time he was portrayed as a mature guy. All future adaptations made him the Flash from the DCAU, except more annoying and less clever.
Man that just goes to show no matter how mysterious, obscure, strange, or unknown things are in anything or everything, there will always be things and people that know its presence or have it in their possession with admiration, curiosity, and fondness. 😄
What is it about Sonic and evil clones/doppelgängers? First there was Metal Sonic, Shadow the Hedgehog in sonic Adventure 2 and then Fleetway had super sonic and Extra Life. It seems to be a trope writers working with Sonic like playing around with a lot for some reason…
I really like the idea of using a game commom element (A Life Monitor) and adding a little of creavity to stand out. I would like to see Extra Life and Turbo appear in official games because there are so much story ideas to make of this characters. I imagine Turbo being a Galaxy Cop that protects planets and his peoples (including Earth) from evil organizations.
Compared to the Archie comics for Sonic the Hedgehog, Fleetway's Sonic The Comic kept the concept of Sonic having a doppelganger of some kind to a minimum. Extra Life's concept, like I said in the comment section for Sonic The Comic Reviews' audio video on Extra Life, I really like the concept of various game mechanics being used as lore for something. be it games, movies/cartoons or comics. The idea of a second chance for the main characters being evil or corrupted is something I don't usually see very often. Kinda makes me wish we could've seen more from Extra Life but I guess he lives on spiritually as King Sonic who acts like a mixture between both Extra Life and Super Sonic.
Fangs in Japanese culture don't always mean evil. They often mean someone who brass and confrentational but also someone who wears his heart on his sleves. Examples include Ryoga Hibiki from Ranma 1/2 and Hatsuo from Shin Sakura Taisen.

I remember reading the issue with this guy a while back, I thought he was pretty cool, I hope we get an evil version of sonic in sonic prime since it’s about exploring the multiverse! Also side noteabout turbo, he does return in sonic the comic online
I think Extra Life would be such an interesting character to reboot, although I didn’t find him through fnf, rather through fleetway after looking into the many, actual sonic but evil, primarily starting with scourge. But primarily, extra life feels like the blankest slate to work with all with being essentially a one shot

It'd be really funny if they were still running and when the time came to adapt Adventure 2 they just brought back Extra Life Sonic and said his flight through space upon being kicked led him into cosmic rays making him black and red and that was their way of getting Shadow.
Dude, could you do more of these STC videos? They're my Canon as I grew up with them as a kid and I've literally never met another human who knows of them. It's awesome to watch nostalgic content on RUclips.
I only realized the existence of the Fleetway comics a few years ago. I think my first introduction to Extra Life was one of those "history of" videos that just has comics with music backing. I had long since heard about the evil Super Sonic, Kintobor to Robotnik, Sonic being a jerk, but Extra Life was new to me. Very interesting to speculate if he was a failed project or if he was evil all along. Maybe he had to be evil to balance out good Kintobor? Would Robotnik's attempt at an Extra Life have been good?
I really hope more people start discovering both the Fleetway and Archie sonic comics because of these characters. Sure, they are weird comics that are full of goofy moments, but theres some real gold in there.
I remember Turbo. He made at least one other appearance in STC online I believe. Don't think they ever revealed what kind of animal he's meant to be. At a glance he seems like a kind Sonic/Knuckles hybrid.
Extra Life kinda reminds me of the “Anti-Shepard” from Mass Effect 3’s Citadel DLC, basically being a “back-up” of sorts to assist in keeping the hero alive and becoming a twisted version of themselves as a result of realizing they’re essentially a “fake” created for no reason other than to be sacrificed in the event the hero needs to recover from otherwise fatal injuries. (Tried to keep that as generalized as possible to avoid spoilers by the way)
Honestly the idea of an extra life is horrifying like imagine dying and then you just wake up instead of feeling like it was only just a dream know it was real with everything that you did before happened so you know it was real but you just woke up from dying

SEGA being pronounced "SEEGA" in some of the 90s marketing over there perfectly encapsulates the strangeness IMO Also it's interesting to note Extra Life looks similar to Zodick the Hellhog from Dreamcast comedy horror game Illbleed
I feel like if he was in current canon, his backstory would have been that he's a Sonic mimic made by Eggman, trapped in a monitor so that when unleashed, he won't carry on Sonic's legacy but ruin it and be a terrible person, and maybe taking the role of the Evil Super Sonic eventually.

Pfft. How ironic I got an (offical) sonic ad right before the video started.
thank you for doing this video i love this character
Brown sonic and good robotnik? I hadn't seen or heard of them since I was little and had no idea it was from England. Learned something new and brought back memories
I wonder if when Amy Rose entered STC they had only seen that one drawing of Amy were her hair is blowing or pushed upwards.
Thanks for doing my request man!
Honestly, it's awesome that fnf has brought so many obscure characters into the limelight, Sonic or otherwise
All these sonic doppelganger villains is kind of like how so many Flash villains are also speedsters, like Zoom, Yellow Flash etc
Love this guy
I am seeing some definite similarities between Cosmic and Swifty the Shrew in the Sonic Boom cartoon. Neat.
Is this brought up because of the Sonic themed FNF mods?
EDIT: I just watched the whole video. Yes, FNF is the reason why he's talking about Sonic now.
Love your videos! Would love to see a segment on Scourge the Hedgehog, I think he was one of the best villains honestly
Maybe you free a sonic when you break it and replaces sonic when he dies
Man, the Fleetway artists/story writers must have been taking some seriously strong acid or somethin. The stuff they came up with was extremely bizarre, but I guess all this stuff is normal to brits, lol.
Interesting that they can make concepts like the super form and extra lives be fleshed out, while the games never tap into this
Sega of Japan is very safe and controlling of the main canon, to the point that they've stopped developers from giving Sonic an origin story dozens of times, even for the Boom series weirdly enough.
@@inendlesspain4724 so was the comics made by Sega of somewhere else?
@@thejonbrownshow8470 Archie Comics in America, Fleetway Editions in the UK, presumably under supervision of the local Sega divisions for each region. Sega of Japan is the one that supervises developers of Sonic games (not just Sonic Team, but even third-party developers like Big Red Button while working for Boom ROL).
@@inendlesspain4724 oh I see, appreciate it lol odd how relatively safe the games are lol
9:01 “I found you, *pretender!”*
I kinda wanna see Turbo again,I think his character has potential for more stories
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold the phone! Sally Acorn was in the Fleetway comics? This is the story I wanna know about! Please make a video about this if you haven’t already.
