Viktor Starble I love it! 4:3, with black bars burned in, making it look like 16:9 on a 4:3 screen like mine, but looks terrible on a 16:9 screen, and effectively only has 320p resolution since it has the black bars hardcoded in and it’s uploaded in 480p. I’m pretty certain the video footage from Jared’s 4:3 camera is just being cropped to 4:3 as well.
I wonder why people did this stuff back then, was it to make it seem “impressive” and “modern” even though really it was just wasting a third of the resolution?

@daniel nunez Not necessarily. Sure, plenty of RPG’s have fetch quests, but Two Worlds’ *entire* story campaign is nothing but one fetch quest after another. You just run around talking to people for most of the time because they had to stretch what little story they had out as much as possible.

Two things he didn't mention: 1 the horse controls are really bad, 2 the magic system is really cool (He didn't play a mage so he didn't know). If you are going to play it, play a mage, because that's where the mechanics are at their best.

This game was much better than you gave it credit for. The sailing and stuff, the Japan looking town with the white lillies; there was a lot of atmosphere in this game.
The magic system was innovative and extremely fun to play with. I eventually made it so I could have like 14 skeletons following me around, I could jump ridiculously far, could walk on water and a bunch of other really interesting fun stuff.
Your general impression seems to me a case of focusing on the end or culmination or climax or whatever, and missing out on the journey. I think you should play it again- I actually did not like it at all until the second go I had at it, months later. I'm glad I gave it a chance though.

Don't listen to him. Look at his profile picture haha. He's just a troll. Anyway, I agree with you and I'm actually playing through it this time with magic and I must say, it is pretty innovative. It doesn't rival morrowind's magic system, but probably the second best system I've seen in an RPG
You really nailed it on the head btw. Almost all of ProJared's reviews never appreciate the journey, which with hardcore RPGs, isn't that point? The things he complains about are so... trivial.. This game had a lot of depth. Much more interesting than Skyrim. He constantly complains about the main story line, yet he admits he doesn't pay attention to the side plots! If he gave this game half a chance he'd realize that's where this game's bread and butter is. The side plots also help evolve the main story line. This guy is ridiculous.

My marathon of rewatching, liking, and commenting on every Jared video continues. Video four.
I'm starting to notice a trend with horrible games that have boring protagonists. Watch Dogs, Two Worlds 2, Alone In The Dark (360), etc. It's like the developers were like "Shit, we've spent all of our budget on cocaine. Let's just use some character on a fan fiction site."

Two World 2 is getting a massive update on a new game engine and new dlc for ps3 and 360 this year at the end of Q2.

+MarcsLab From my perspective of playing Two Worlds 2, it wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. As a hack n slash loot fest, it's great... the story left me confused, especially the sequence AFTER the dragon fight. As for the spells and stuff, it just doesn't seem worth it early on, and the online battles are good, but feel lacking... it's just mainly surviving waves of monsters rather than having a true objective at the end... and yes, the online matches DID have objectives, but you're constantly being harassed by monsters that it's very easy to neglect... until said monsters destroy the objective... For fights of that style, I'll play Warframe Defense Missions. When I beat Two Worlds 2, I basically gave it a 5/10, because the looting was what makes it interesting, as well as the crafting. Then I decided to find out about Two Worlds 1... After watching that horrible mess from the bowels a lizard-monster's lab in a game which I will not utter, I bumped it to 7/10... when compared to it's horrible monstrosity of an original. I'm not hyped when it comes to hearing that it's being updated for newer consoles, with DLC... that's more pain in people's wallets and burning desperation in their chests.
Marc Stuart, why are you internally raging? I mean... it doesn't affect you in any way if you don't buy it. I'm one of the people who's actually hyped because to be frank, I've enjoyed Two Worlds and TW2 more than even Skyrim and Oblivion. Yes, that's right. I played through both those one single time each, while I have finished Two Worlds 5 times, and TW2, I'm currently playing through it for the third time. They might be bad games, but I'm enjoying myself thoroughly and I honestly can't wait for the DLCs and TW3. So your internal raging helps you in no way, let people enjoy what they want to enjoy :P

I did play through side quests in both Oblivion and Skyrim, and I got bored eventually. The world in Oblivion is pretty generic and the environments don't really look different from each other if you ask me, whereas in Two Worlds you've got a massive world with environments from snowy mountains to a desert and more. As for Skyrim, the world is big, and it looks nice, but aside that... eh. Whereas Two Worlds II's world is not that big actually, being divided in three "islands" out of which one is almost fully unaccessible save for the Swallows around Vahkmaar and the Swamp at the very middle, but the questing experience and the combat more than make up for it, at least in my eyes. At least in TWII you have a good targetting system and the combat is pretty fluid, whereas in Skyrim, the combat is pretty on-par with the one in Two Worlds, where you just slash the air and hope to get a strike. Not to mention that neither Oblivion nor Skyrim have anything impressive magic wise, while TW2 has a hell of a magic system.
All in all, it just boils down to opinions and personal feelings, but I, for one, wouldn't think twice if I was to vote which is my favorite game between TES or Two Worlds.

+Joseph Iles I know I am. But Skyrim was far to shallow for me to warrent any excitement, especially when the crafting, combat, exploring, side quests, lore and magic in TT2 was done a loooot better. After playing this, Skyrim just felt hollow.
I still to this day cannot bring myself to finish it, but I've put in nearly 180 hours though. :/

I'm surprised nobody started one already... but sign me up for that; we should get a 2nd Two Worlds 2 review, with classic ProJared Blue Shirt, although I don't really see a problem with the silver shirt in this video. But I get it. The Blue Shirt is the shirt most synonymous with Jared in the first place. It's the one he's always wearing for reviews. This silver one doesn't feel right, and makes it look like maybe his evil twin brother stole the spotlight in this review, and perhaps, Jared just never noticed.

"Jim Sterling of Destructoid published an article in regards to allegations that publisher Topware Interactive had put pressure on certain media outlets, many European, particularly against scores below 7/10, including threats of being blacklisted for future releases and possible legal action against reviews claimed to be of "unfinished" versions of the game, along with manipulating user scores on multiple sites. That article also mentioned that Destructoid itself had sold advertising space to Topware but only received half the payment, allegedly based on their review. I really liked the magic system aswell. First spawn rocks, then cast a tornado around yourself for the rocks to spin in, then start walking on those rocks to fly. Or make spells that ricochet the shit out of anything. Dont know how spells worked in singleplayer but it was way the most effective thing in multiplayer.
I just find myself coming back to these nuggets, ProJared is such a good creator with such a nice way of presenting himself and his ideas that I can only wish him and everyone the best who is here with me xD

Good. The world doesn't need a Two Worlds 3, unless we're all awaiting what Jared has to say about it. Like the Hydlide Trilogy. I bought TW2 on GOG for a small amount and before I did, I read reviews of the game. The game got mostly positive reviews. I will be playing it when I complete the first one. Once again I think most of the problems are with the interface on the XBOX 360 or Playstation 3. I'm playing the PC version with a mouse and keyboard. I never really got RPGs played with a game controller.
It's like Bowser and Ganondorf. They always come back, no matter how many times you beat their asses.
Neither Bowser nor Gannon seem to die... Bowser is usally defeated but he was never killed. Ganondorf is always being sealed away for his crimes against the Divines but he never dies.

Unusual Leather what exactly makes it incorrect? This is an actual question because I have never had a real complaint with the Timeline. Plus I have seen so many of the games reference other games as if this happen years after. We know that Phantom Hourglass takes place not too long after Wind Waker, we know that Spirit Tracks take place 100 years after Phantom Hourglass with Niko being one of the last survivors of Tetra's ship. We know that Majora's Mask takes place only a couple months after Ocarina of Time with Twilight Princess having direct references to Majora's Mask. Tell me, what exactly makes the timeline so wrong?

+Drwhygiveacrap well It's subtle to be honest but you can see them In a more civil manner like all the other race of this universe.Some of them are even noble for exemple.It's a portrayal of equality even tough they make great barbarian with their berserk attack.They are not portayed as monster to kill necessarly.You can find some of them bandit but Its because all other races *Elves,high elves,kashit,human etc* can be bandits too.

I actually played the hell out of this game. Bought it for $10 at Cash Converters. My copy even had this "Red Book" case thing it came in. I think it was the special edition idk. But yeah I don't remember beating it but holy hell I was getting into it.

the best part about character customization is that no matter what you do, your hero always looks the same. Honestly, his character looks exactly like the one i made when i played the game back then.
i have a weird soft spot for this little trainwreck... its at least an earnest attempt at a real epic RPG.

I don't understand what people hate about TWII. Two Worlds was a disaster and I have seen proof, so I know it, but every reason that people have called Two Worlds II bad, does not strike me as valid:
Now I'm not saying it is a 10/10, 9/10 or even 8/10... Maybe a 7/10? Why because none of what I have experienced (so far. I'm not done the game yet) has actually ruined the game. Are the graphics the best? No, but that doesn't really matter. Is the voice acting very interesting? Far from it. Is the storyline a bit confusing? Yes! But here is what the game does well
Customization: Character creation, Armor, coloring, Detailed armor,
Do whatever the heck you want. open world, go where you want. Choose in what order you want to do things. Do you want to do the main quest? Or do you want to check out a side quest?
The combat is not that bad? I use a spear in the game, and it reminds me of Dynasty Warriors a little bit. It has action. The spell crafting is incredibly fun.
Upgrade your weapons using metal to make it do more damage & unlock different abilities depending on the class you choose (If you want to go with a "Class" you can mix it up)
Interesting quests & motivation to explore. You do get the occasional "fetch" quests, but even those have some interesting story behind them? How are they interesting? Because it's all fully voiced, and the people you help feel like they are actually in need of help (Although it would be better if the voice acting didn't suck), and when you are done you actually feel like your character helped somebody. You never feel like you have nothing to do as long as you look around, and search for quests. There is always somewhere to go, and always certain things your character can improve in.
You don't get treated like the greatest fucking hero in the land for saving a kitten in a tree. I get sick of being "THE Hero" It's fine to be A hero, but not THE hero
Tons of enemies. There is variety. Many enemies. Over time you will encounter different types.
Tons of hours. I hear you can get nearly 80 out of this game. I'm almost 20 hours in and haven't finished the main quest line, or all the side quests. Haven't even TOUCHED multiplayer, or any other modes. Heck I haven't even played through the entire game as another class yet!
Ultimately tons of content. The charming part of this game isn't the voice acting or story (Although that is important for an RPG) but it IS charming for the major RPG aspects that it does right, and the amount done right outweighs what it does wrong (In my opinion).
Is this game perfect? No, is it comparable to Skyrim? Absolutely not! But is it the worst RPG all because everyone hated the first one? No. Is the weight of all the bad stuff enough to actually crush everything that is good about the game? Not really. Most of what I hear from people sounds like they don't want the second game to be good because they absolutely hated the first. People also seem to have raised their expectations too. Not every RPG is gonna be a comparison to your favorite games, that's just how it works. A game can be a good one without being Skyrim, COD, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Halo, ECT.

I started Two Worlds knowing it was terrible. I think that makes it so much easier to enjoy. It's HILARIOUS. I can only take so much of the craptastic dialog before I have to bow out for a while, but man. That game is terrible. And hilarious.
I liked the first one for what it was. I didnt own an xbox. I had a shitty pc and I only had money for two worlds. Couldnt buy elder scrolls. Sure, it wasnt that great but I got caught up in its themes and huge open world experience... my first full blown open world rpg. Two Worlds two is ok. Its not a Kingdoms of Amalur or Skyrim. But its a huge improvement from the first. I personally am hoping for two worlds 3.... with a decent final boss battle... and gender customization.... and character customization...

Andrei Petrosyan That's the review that got me to buy the game. It happened to be on sale when I watched the video and I jumped right on it. It was the "Make all the spells!" that made me want it so bad.
