Upper Hutt: The Complete Tane's Track & Looking for the Never Built Cross Creek Tunnel's Survey Line

- Tane's Track has shrunk over the last twenty years. It used to link up with Mt Climie Road. The section unmarked on any contemporary maps is still there though.
The second plan for the day was to find the survey line cut in 1939 for a proposed railway tunnel between Maymorn and Cross Creek. The tunnel ended up going to Pigeon Bush instead, yet the cut line stayed on maps until at least 1979.
I thought I saw signs of it on Tunnel spur last year, but there seems to be little trace on Climie spur. The vegetation in the locality is not kind, with supplejack predominant, so I'll shelve vaguely formed plans to trace the line from Climie spur to Cross Creek.
Legend, always keen to see another video from this fella. Good local knowledge 🤙
Thank! I enjoyed that. We all need a steeper and muddier start to the Mt Climie track!
True. It is more aesthetically pleasing.
Hey ru keen on doing a secret track in dry creek with a bigger waterfall than that 1 that u seen, its a 2 waterfall round trip on some bait trails and some bushbashing
You got me curious. My memory might be faulty, but is it the falls high up that you can see from the track on the eastern side? Thanks for the offer. If I did it, it wouldn't be secret though.
@@mapalone yes I think u might see it from other side of valley, it's 2 tier waterfall. Its not secret lol but I'm sure not many have done parts of it
@@bilbobaggans8398 Yes, I'd be keen to know how to get there.
