Very helpful video. I have a 2012 Altima with the same positive terminal set-up. It's just ridiculous the way they manufacture things these days. I still have the factory battery as of 10/31/19 and it's still cranking like a champ. The whole starting issue was with that stupid positive terminal set-up.

Wish I had come across this before. Our 2010 Cube had intermittent start issues. I replaced the battery (there was major corrosion going on). Still had start issues. Had the electrical system checked twice by 2 different places and they stated everything looked good. Finally, had it checked by Nissan and they stated it was the starter. Had that replaced (Ouch!) and still have starting issues. Now I have come to realize it looks to be the positive cable that is bad, pretty confident about that. I think I will need to replace that as in this video. I will do it myself. Thanks for doing this video.

Goodness gracious for the love of Pete you really need to do two things: you need to Chuck those vice grips for loosening that nut on top of the positive cable clamp assembly. You need to use the fly scripts to hold the clamp assembly while you loosen that top nut with an 11 mm socket and ratchet wrench. Oh and you some WD-40 to loosen the grime it'll make that job a whole lot easier.

Seriously! Nice to hear it wasn’t just me. Trying to fix it for my parents. Their Nissan was so corroded and crapped up that I will probably have to replace the cable too. What a messy goupy corroded mess essentially all hardened together in a primordial ooze concrete substance. My mazda hasn’t had anything at all and doesn’t have this ridiculous contraption either with all the right angle plastic fuse pieces. I don’t know what the world Nissan is thinking with this porked out gizmo they concocted.
