- John Squire - Time Changes Everything
From the album: Time Changes Everything
Such a low down dirty trick you played me
You work your witchcraft so well
Straight through my bleeding heart
Another martyr to your hypodermic kiss
Your needle dont ever seem to miss
Time changes everything
Why did we have to say goodbye
I know why the caged bird sings
Time changes
Everything
Is that a face I saw at the window
Did I hear footsteps out in the hall?
All the people that we used to know
Faces stranded in my mind
Faces drawn without lines,
Time changes everything
Why did we have to say goodbye
I know why the caged bird sings
Time changes
Everything
How can the world keep on turning?
Well what else is it gonna do?
I'm still growing, I'm still learning
I'm not the only child
Hanging in the frame with you
Time changes everything
Why did we have to say goodbye
I know why the caged bird sings
Time changes
Everything
what a good song, the album was so under-rated too!!
If you actually cared about music you could appreciate this effort even if it's in your opinion unfavourable. Surely it's fascinating to have a little repository of Johns vocal? Even if you don't like it, surely you can value that it's out there in public. As a real fan with burgeoning interest surely it is of interest to have this evidence of John which cannot be erased from history? It's evidently the same musician who created your beloved 2 albums, and the instrumentation is actually far superior here to that of the eponymous Roses album from the 13 years experience and learning since then. There's literally no call for dismissing it or hating it. As for those who say he cannot sing - it's axiomatically incorrect. To sing is to make musical notes with your voice. This he is doing and doing correctly - perfectly hitting the notes. You're actually just dissatisfied with the style of vocal and his vocal tone. He cannot change how he sounds. You're hating somebody for the way they are and the body they live inside? Do you feel like a big-man now? Of course, I bet you're all people who have done something of worth and therefore have the right to unjustly hate without any real argument.
This guy is my idol.
One of my favourite albums of the last 10 years!
Whole album is class. John is a sweet sweet dude. Misunderstood quiet genius.
He's an Epic Songwritwer, has Guitar skills that few can muster, and his melancholic vocals keep him squarely as an underdog trend-shunning pioneer 3.25 guitar solo is nice too
A truly beautiful song
Would love to hear this live on the Squire/ Liam live dates
All time fav song. Just something about man!
Listening to the Liam / Squire collab, and felt compelled to come and find this track. Not listened it properly since it came out but remember it so well. Work of art.
absolutely love this song. one of my fav of all time!
such competance, freedom and feeling...
The greatest picture
John really knows how to create music and make it actually sound good.
She’s always ahead of me
