  • Today I took the plunge of installing my Hornet Exhaust system to my Mini Cooper S R56. This video doesn't show the sound, its more focussed on the installation it. There are 2 clips at the end of a before and after, to show the difference, but the video doesn't do this exhaust system justice.
I will be doing a full on video, using proper equipment, to ensure you all see the best experience.

How much louder was the Hornet exhaust system? Cause I’m looking to change my stock exhaust like you did. This one looks pretty good

Video doesn’t do it justice, it’s waaay too loud, and I like loud cars lol.
The main problem is the drone inside the car, after 10 minutes you will go deaf and not stand it any longer, it’s constant drone at almost any RPM, I found myself opening the window which seems to relieve the droning slightly by giving the resonation a place to escape, but it didn’t really help much, you either love it or you hate it, it’s fun but unbearable inside the car, I wouldn’t plan on driving in it more than 5-10 min it at best, if you need to talk to your passengers or listen to music then you can forget it lol, I also dreaded starting it up late at night because it actually woke all of the neighbours up without even trying and that’s not an exaggeration, I used to roll it downhill to get away from houses before starting my car and then driving out of the area as fast (but as quietly) as I can so nobody comes out of their house and tries to murder me lmfao.
Joke aside, I put my old stock exhaust on, if you want a quality system that you can daily then put the extra £200/300 to it and get a properly acoustically refined and designed exhaust made with serious jet grade steel (miltek, scorpion, cobra, quicksilver, akrapovic etc), even most non resonated systems will be tame to the point that you can daily them without question, but you can also get resonated systems too which are even more tame but still sound great, the quality steel also reduces acoustic resonation and droning through the pipes, they also have an actual silencer fitted and not those cherry bomb “mufflers”
Sorry for rambling, hope I answered your question :) also just to clarify the build quality of the hornet is pretty decent, good welds etc, but *crazy* loud, I’ve heard straight pipes on some cars quieter than this system on the R56 and I’m not even joking!

Defeats the purpose , but you could fit db killers that screw into tail pipe end. After i gutted out ny astra h 1.6 it was crazy loud so i put a db killer in now its all good
