  • This trip takes place in early April. The wind conditions were favorable to make a trip South to coffee island out of Bayou la Batre AL. No specific species were being targeted today, just exploring and checking out different parts of the island. The bait used for the video is the Zman Streakz 3.75" Let me know what you think. Thanks for checking out the video.

Man, I don't know how you do it! 11 miles of paddling and fishing?!?! I give you props. Good video. I'm amazed at all the places you will venture off to. Always enjoy watching.

Thanks bud, a lot of those long trips turn into more paddling than good fish catching trips. It’s hard to resist seeing what’s around the next bend sometimes. Thanks for checking out the video!

Bro you got some serious endurance to paddle all the way to Coffey Island and back because it takes 10 or 15 minutes going out there in a boat so I’m impressed with your kayaking alone. But keep the local videos coming.

Thanks bud, I’ve been paddling for several years so I guess my muscles are used to it now. It’s a pretty nice paddle out there as long as the wind is below 10mph. Once I was surrounded by fog heading that way and it was a little eerie. That island holds some great fish so it’s always worth it! Thanks for checking out the video.

Coffee island is a blast. Miss fishing there. You put a little work in paddling it.

Oh yeah it’s always a good time going out there. It’s an all day trip though. Still haven’t been to the southern tip yet. Might be a neat camping spot if you could keep the gnats at bay haha.

I WAS OVER THERE A MONTH AGO AND TOOK A VIDEO OF ME PULLING 3 FLOUNDER AND A KEEPER RED OUT OF A CREEK MOUTH A TAD WIDER THAN YOUR KAYAK COULD FIT THROUGH. CAUGHT IT JUST RIGHT, KNOWING THE WIND WAS PUSHING THE WAVES IN THAT JOKER AND MAN DID IT PAY OFF! I FIND ON FLOUNDER YOU HAVE TO LET THEM TAKE THE BAIT A FEW SECONDS OR YOU WILL MISS A LOT MORE THAN YOU CATCH.

If that creek is on the west side I probably know where it is. Good creek in the back to if so. Love coffee island but if a storm kicks up it can be tough getting back. Coming from bass fishing it’s hard to let the fish hold it too long. Seems like they are going to take me back in something haha. Letting them hold it is a smart move though. Thanks for checking out the video!

Good video with lots of good catches. If you get a chance check out bayou bandits channel for the double flounder rig he’s using down there. He’s had several videos where he does well on it. He’s catching some keeper size fish on it.

Thank you! I’ve watched some of his videos, we fish a few of the same areas. I’ll check his rig out and give it a shot. If it’s similar to the old double speck rig I used to keep those tangled up haha. Thanks for checking out the video!
