Happy to hear about the improvements. If the MY2024 ID.4 RWD can manage ~300 miles EPA range with only a small price bump, it would be a pretty compelling EV.
And you know this because you've owned both? I've owned a model y and id4(as well as 4 other EVs) and the tesla was by far the least satisfying to drive.
if I get the 2023 with the current software (I believe 3.5), will VW push the new software 4.0 update on the 2024 models to the 2023 models? Also, is preconditioning battery a feature on the 2024 or is an existing function on the 2023 as well?
My understanding is that 4.0 will only be on 2024s and up. The infotainment computer has been upgraded with better processing to handle the new software and have snappier graphics. It’s also my understanding that it will have at least battery preconditioning when heading to a charger. Not sure if it will have manual battery preconditioning.
One datapoint for potential range is in the image of the European 2024 ID.4 where the battery level is indicated on the steering column mounted driver information (@6:53). Unfortunately nothing can help this car for it is too heavy. The VW MPGe is the lowest in the EV field.
This is not even true? The ID.4 Pro is very competitive in efficiency for its class 107 MPGe for the 23. 24 is rated at 113 MPGe.
