Please tell me if Royal Princess has a pool in the sanctuary. On the Regal we had to leave sanctuary to go to retreat area to get to a pool or hot tub.

Just sailed on Discovery Princess in Alaska the last week of June 2023 and it was AMAZING! We absolutely loved the ship and we never felt "over crowded" even though the ship was at capacity. The ports were absolutely breathtaking and our shore excursions that we booked through Princess were top notch. We will definitely go back to Alaska again and will be going with Princess once again. We have been on 9 cruises now and this one was definitely one (if not the best) of the best we ever went on. Only had one negative thing to say about Discovery princess and that was the EXCESSIVELY thick smoke in and around the Casino. They (the casino)clearly do NOT have an adequate ventilation system to continue to allow people to smoke in this confined space.

Thanks for the video! One of the things I love about HAL Alaska cruises if their educational programming about the ports - Alaska history, Native culture, and of course the Naturalists & Parks Dept staff who provide the commentary when sailing into Glacier Bay or Hubbard Glacier. Having also sailed to Alaska with NCL, there was nothing like that at all. NCL loves a good port shopping guide hosted by some jewelry companies, but they don't do any of the informational presentations that HAL provides. I do love NCL for their fun/party atmosphere, while I also love HAL for their relaxed/classy atmosphere. I'd like to try Princess one of these days.

I recommend you do try it! They offer information learning sessions as well! I love attending those too! I feel that they make you appreciate what you are seeing much more. And I always learn to come back saying I learned something!

Holland America had Vancouver to Whittier inside for $349. Whittier to Vancouver inside for $349. 2 weeks on a the sane ship for $700. Very competitive prices.

those are great prices! Did you book these or just scouted them out? open end cruises are more likely to have deals because some folks won't want to deal with flying in and out of different cities.

We're actually cruising NCL in August from Vancouver (about 4 ports) to Alaska then on to Hawaii (4 ports) on a 20-night trip. It's not costing a lot because it's "repositioning" and we live on the west coast so the flights (to Vancouver and from Hawaii) aren't that expensive. What IS expensive are the "America-based" ship excursions ... they are FAR more expensive than Caribbean or European excursions! It's crazy.

YES! Wow kudos for booking such a long cruise, that's amazing! I hope you enjoy and find some reasonable things to do. But agreed, I actually did a video on this exact topic of pricey excursions! Regardless that's an amazing cruise.

@@CruisetheWorldAtoZ I love a long cruise ... we did a back-to-back in the Meraviglia YC in April and had a wonderful time. We have a YC cruise scheduled for next year Rio to Rome and it's about the same. I live in Oregon, so unless I cruise to the Mexican Riviera or Alaska, I have to take a pretty long flight ... so I won't get on a plane anymore for less than a 10-day cruise.

I have been on 7 Alaska cruises, between 2006-2023, on 3 different cruiselines HA was the most boring. All cruiselines have same offerings for excursions/experiences. HA doesn't have "priority" in Skagway. They dock at its original dock, as always before the new dock for larger ships was made ( the one with slide).
