The little opposing "blocks" in valley of the tread is not for grip. It's actually to trap air and the air separates the snow/mudd from the tire and helps it "clean out" as you drive. And its not a sales gimmick. It really works and works well!

I ran 3 years on my duratracks with only good results. Northern Ontario offers some of the coldest weather on earth and I was impressed how they handled on snow and ice. 3 years on a heavy f350 that often carries weight in the box and a trailer was impressive. Never heard any road noise on highway, maybe because my diesel is pretty loud. My truck goes went through a fair share mud and deep washout to say that i've put these tires to the test over the years. Awesome tires.

Had a set of 35s for years on a f150 supercrew. Did great on sand and mud offroad, cutting wood and hauling trailers off road, not too loud on the highway at 70mph. Caught a screw in the face of the tread in one at about 30k, had it patched, ran the set to about 60k before replacing. Definitely a good tire.

I just can't believe how quite they are at a highway speed. Just a nice light humm. I have not had a Truck for 20 year and the improvements in the vehicles and tires is amazing. They feel a little soft in the Las Vegas summer heat but seem to be wearing well on the back roads to the lake and river that have a lot of jagged and fractured rock on the road. - 2019 Ram

I run my Duramax basically in the worst winter conditions imaginable. Last month we had a couple bouts of freezing rain and incompetant municipalities neglecting the main highway. These tires aired down to 35 psi combined with 700 lbs of work gear got me to work safely in 2wd when the highway was actually a sheet of ice. They see abuse on logging roads and hold up as well. Only tire Ill run in the winter time out in the oil patch.

Canadian here - noticed you yanks don’t seem to run them much on this page but up here we love them and they’re hella common. I have 2 vehicles with studded DuraTracs (on my winter wheels) and every night I pray for a blizzard so I can have some fun! Never felt more confident with any tire in whiteout conditions then my studded DuraTracs.

      @LW-dq8pv 5 лет назад +2

@@AirTisdale I got them studded to help on the ice, however, I do have to note that although they are great in winter conditions, on sheer ice, nothing beats an ice tire (blizzak, hakkapellita, x-ice). So best "snow" tires, i've ever had, but fall short on ice compared to dedicated "ice" tires.

there are metal inserts that get put into the tire for added grip on ice. Alot of the states have banned use of them as it does tear up the road.

I live in New-Brunswick and I have been running Duratracs without studs for about 5 years on my Ram 1500. They worked great for summer and winter till about last year (80,000km), they are now comparable to summer tires on ice and are noisier than mud terrains. This year I decided to buy a dedicated winter tire and got the Cooper Discoverer M+S with studs in a 275/65R20. By far the best winter tire I've ever had.

Havent tried these in the mud yet but i feel they would do great. They are a bit loud but what do you expect with an aggressive tire, Rotations are vital with these! Definately getting a set of these in 35's when i level the truck!

I have had several sets of dura tracs and I will say that absolutely positively they are that good currently have a set on a 2012 F250 with a little over 58,000 miles on them with a lot of heavy hauling and trailer towing miles. They've given exceptional traction on every truck that I've had them on. As far as I'm concerned exceptional traction with exceptionally long lasting wear is everything you can ask for.

I'm Canadian 🇨🇦 I love the BFG KO2 (winter rated) more than the Duratracs.... I had the BFG KO1 on my first 3/4 ton truck, I had this truck for 10 years and only one set of tires they never let me down in the snow great tires... Then I bought a 3500 Chevy Diesel that came with the Duratracs 75%, I didn't notice any improvement on ice and snow over my BFG KO1. That is to say the Duratracs are great tires on Ice and snow. Once I pulled the truck off to the side of the road to get out and get to work I was parked for a minute or two before I got out and then the snow bank at the side of the road gave way and my 4×4 one ton truck crew cab Long box slid down the side of a very large ditch several meters and buried the whole side of my truck in snow... I had to dig the one side of the truck out so I could drive the truck back and forth to get momentum to drive out which I eventually did drive out of the ditch with no help from another truck or winch... The Duratracs perform very well, but I still prefer the BFG all terrain KO tires.... Those Duratracs are like normal winter tires, if you drive them year around they don't last long. Those Duratrac Wranglers only lasted for 1 1/2 years and they were 5% vs the BFG lasting 10 years and out living the truck I put them on and still having 30% left. The BFG KO1 and KO2 tires have also gotten me out of sticky situations so I think I will stick with the BFG.

I bought these for dual purpose off road (mud, rocks, clay in eastern US) and snow on road. I've used them in both situations and in my opinion they are a great tire. They are on a 2011 Nissan Frontier in the 285/75R16 size, so just shy of 33x11.5". I do not have studs in mine. The reason I went for these tires over a more traditional MT is for on road snow performance. We've been getting 24+ inches at least once a year in central/eastern PA and I wanted to make sure there were no problems. We picked up eight inches about a month ago and I was stopping to pull people back onto the road on my way home from work. Absolutely no complaints about these tires. I have about 2500 miles on them, and in my opinion they are not loud at all, but that's subjective. I can just hear them with the radio off.

Had these on my 99 durango and honestly can say they saved my ass and my family one icy night. Got stuck in an ice storm and when we were almost home we got stuck in a line of traffic on a backroad because the hill to my house was pure ice. Salt truck couldnt even make it. Watched 3 trucks and 2 cars get stuck about half way up. Put her in 4 low and crawled up. Didnt slip once. That road was the only road to my house. Luckily we were also able to tie up to a few of the cars and get them straightened out from the top of the hill and got them to where they could turn around. Because of that night i will always buy duratracs for all my trucks and suvs. Plus they look dam good.

Moved to Maine from Texas with those on and they hauled my 7000lb trailer just fine, then took them through the Maine winter and drove nearly halfway across the state on a logging road covered with Ice (not a flat road by any means) but our Beast took it all in stride. Love these things. I've got about 28k miles on mine. 16/32" tread depth new, still at 11/32". Granted, I'm an auto tech, so I rotate my tires religiously, and check my toe like every six months, so my tires tend to last forever anyway. Amazing in the snow (upstate NY), great on the road. Spent two days at Rausch Creek Off Road Park in my Tacoma, and they never let me down. Best all around truck tire as far as I'm concerned. As long as they're available, these are the tires I'll be buying for my truck.

I have No Complaints with these tires, I have these on my 2012 Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie, and I’m in my 3rd year with them on my truck, and they still have a lot of tread left, I haven’t had a chance to see there performance in heavy snow deeper than 5-7 inches yet, but the little snow my area has gotten, and the little mud and off road i have gone, they are a great tire thus far, not too loud on hwy either.
Hope this review of them helps anyone considering these tires. Cheers

It's a 'tweener" between an AT & MT. My buddy that owns three tire shops (& mechanic work) suggested I take off my old MT's (on my 2Dr. Rubicon) and put on the Duratrac's. Road driving is fine (quieter) off road (dirt) is fine and gripping while on rock is OK. After having the tires on for a few years, the tires were rotated and the rear tires began to "roar" while on the highway. It took over a 200 miles or more for that to even out & quiet down. For the 2dr. the tires have been surprisingly nice; I have a 4dr. Rubicon also, but run a true MT on that, which is a wider and beefier tire, for the heavier vehicle.

I had a set of LT265/75R17 DuraTracs on my work truck, a 2007 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 with a canopy and a 1/2 length lockbox in the truck bed, that went for 70,000 miles and still had a little life left in them when they were replaced. I maintained them at 35psi (min) and rotated them every 3,000 miles. I went from Washington State to the southern border of Arizona and back again and these were the best tires that I had ever on my work truck.

These tires are the best tire I have ever owned for snowy climates. Not a "snow tire" by definition but they will dig through packed snow on asphalt until they grab on the pavement underneath. Incredible bite and they look wicked! They throw mud and snow like crazy! I live in Fort Mac where they were tested and the majority of trucks up here, whether it be fleet or personal trucks/SUV's, are running these tires. Quickly becoming the go to tire of the north for a reason.

Have these on my 94 K2500 Sierra. Yes they're not the quietest. They do wear relatively quickly on the heavy truck but goddamn I do not care what so ever. I have so much confidence with these things. I put them through their paces. 110kph windy mountain roads. Wheelin, packing 2 snowmobiles around. Sheet ice, compact ice and snow, deep power driving, you name it they don't skip a beat, absolutely by far the best tire for shitty winter conditions of all time. Not bad for logging roads and highways duty. I will admit they were greasy as hell in the wet city streets, spun em everywhere but I dont live in a city so I don't care. Usually travelling 20-40kph faster than anyone else in shitty conditions and I'm just not phased.

I had these on a F250. Bfg at's before the duratrac. Much noisier than the BGF's and not as good on road. Needed a lot of psi or they wandered at highway speed. It should also be noted that they usually run 10 lbs lighter than a comparable mud tire.

These tires are amazing on and off road. I have owned two sets of these tires. They are great for mud, snow, rain and of course on the pavement. I would caution everyone that the sidewalls do not hold up well. My first set no problem, second set I sliced the sidewalls on driver and passenger side while off roading the same weekend I got the tires. I had to replace both rear tires. Even though I had a mishap, I love these tires. My rig performed great off road at Barnwell in Texas even with the tire mishap. Be cautious of rocky conditions, but you will love these tires if you buy them.
