Welcome in! I started my (other) channel a year and a half ago when I got burnt by D4. Enjoying making these guides, helps me learn too. I played about 100 hours of PoE 1 across 4 characters, never to endgame. Just hit 100 hours on my monk in PoE 2. It's so fun.
Yeah that's not good. You should email ggg's support. All 500 of my points disappeared when I bought a 60 point tab during the first week, and they fixed it the next day. The email is on their support page: www.pathofexile.com/support
I'm not doing SSF for a couple patches. In Early Access, they'll reset the realm many times so I don't see a reason to hold back when I can only realistically play 1 character to endgame before resets.
The hack has nothing to do with 3rd party apps. Has been confirmed several times now. They can steal your session when you go to their hideout or they enter yours. It also only works if you have an email login for Poe, steam users without connected email are safe

I didnt see the party icon on the left of screen when I invited someone, is that a bug?
If you invited them, they'll get a pop up to accept and join your party. If they accept, they'll you'll see their character picture on the left.

Don't download 3rd party apps for pricing. There is a huge hacking problem in testing. People getting all their things stolen. Be warned!
Don't use a launcher without 2FA.
