Can’t wait to see the videos coming up on this red arc system explaining very professional Adam you must have a bit of Italian in you with the hands 🤣🤣love your work buddy 👍🏽🤙🏻🇦🇺👌🏼☝🏼
I am using through panel terminals to connect the main cables from the starter battery to the redarc cables my main cables are 25mm 4b&S as they are 6.6 mtrs long and if I have a fault with the redarc I can just undo the lugs. Hope that is useful tip
Hi, nice video ! I would like to install a Dc to Dc charger for my camping trailer. I would like to use it only when I do boondocking to recharge my 100 amps Lihium battery when it’s low and there no sun on my solar panels. Can I turn my RV on and let it go on idle with the Dc to Dc charger so it can recharge my battery. Can it hurt the alternator if it’s on idle for 1 or 2 hours ? Thank you !
You could do that sure, just be aware of your fuel consumption. If you're running out of power and more solar isn't an option I would consider increasing your storage capacity eg a bigger/additional battery
@@VideoShowMeHow thank you ! And what about my alternator ? Is it dangerous to damage it on a long run ? Is there a lot of amps produce by the alternator while running on idle ? I am thinking to buy a Redarc 12 v producing around 30 amps
Great video by the way, and Pardon my ignorance but will this unit also serve as a battery isolator? or will I also need a Battery isolator for my 2 LifePo4 battery set up in the rear seat of my truck? Thanks In Advance.
Question for ya - how come the 1240D? Would thr 1225D not have been sufficient for that size Lithium battery? I have heard that lithium batteries can "receive" more charge, is this the reasoning for going with the 40a charger instead? Cheers
How do you determine if your vehicle has smart or dumb alternator? I'm looking at installing one of these in my vehicle with a 100Ah lithium to run my fridge, but I don't know what type of alternator my vehicle has and opinions online are mixed. Is there a simple/easy way to determine this by myself or do I need to go ask my dealer?
A few simple ways, some good info on redarcs website - www.redarc.com.au/how-do-i-know-if-i-have-a-variable-voltage-smart-alternator You can also check with a multimeter, a non smart alternator will run all the time so you should see around 14.4v at the battery always where as a smart will likely be less and sometimes into the 12.x range. Most cars sold in the last 10 years are likely to have a smart alternator.
I haven't had direct experience with those, they seem a little simpler, specs still seem decent. I like the fact with the redarc everything comes with, wiring ready to go and includes crimps, heat shrink etc and is essential waterproof with it's silicon elastomer covering the circuit board etc.

@@sdaoust62 it's will be ok, just not an ideal solution. Your amp output is going to depend on the car

Yep on the engine bay. If you watch the 12v accessory plate video you can see the setup

Yep, faster charge basically

Tapping the box sent me insane, get a drum set instead. Otherwise good.
No Bluetooth 😮😢
