**I should also add that in Venti's quest, he says that before he was an Archon he wasn't a god of anything further adding evidence to this idea that the gods' titles are chosen, so technically they can change
Ever wondered if you could trust the titles that the gods have? Well, even if you didn’t, here’s an explanation. Let me know in the comments what you think about this theory and if you have your own!

Stove God in Chinese dub is 炉灶之魔神. 魔神 is "mo shen", a "demon-god" as said. So, Marchosius' title is "Stove Demon-God".
Overlord of the Vortex is 漩涡之魔神. So, Osial's title is "Vortex Demon-God".
God of Salt is 盐之魔神. So, Havria's title is "Salt Demon-God".
God of Storms is 烈风的魔神. So, Decarabian's title is "Demon-God of Storm Winds".
God of Dust/Lord of Dust is 尘王魔神. So, GuiZhong's title is "Dust Lord Demon-God".
    All translations are literal.

I mean titles like Rex Lapis are already given by the people, but that’s a literal title, not a deific designation. I think that it’s still very likely these are adopted titles, or at least not Celestial titles, but then there’s instances like Guizhong, who was renowned for her innovations and her kindness, yet possesses the epithet “God of Dust”. Maybe this is because of her association with Morax, who was also a God of Stone right??? Or is that just Rex Lapis??? Whatever. Or maybe it’s some different association, because of dust’s association with life (Albedo speaks a lot about how dust is basically the origin of life or something Khemia related) and Guizhong being a nurturing goddess who protected humans, giving them life, in a way. Still a weird title to give your god

To be fair, the mortals give the gods all sorts of titles. God of stone and god of Geo to me are pretty much the same title. I’m playing with the idea that the mortals actually give the gods a majority of their titles except for their main one which was bestowed upon them by celestia… maybe. I can’t imagine celestia telling Guoba that his sole function is to provide stoves for the mortals as the stove god LOL
I think albedo specifically says chalk, not dust, but I could be wrong. If there’s a dialogue he says this please let me know :)

@@voicekeeper8980 well there's the quote "This young man displayed the true prowess of alchemy to all, bringing with him a massive corpus of wisdom that even the Sumeru Academia did not possess. "The universe is heaven reversed, and the earth is a dream lost to time. This is dust, the most basic form of complex life"" from his character details, as well as an official article title, "It is the purest dust which gives birth to human life", which is a reference to chalk, but still uses dust. Neither are actual lines of dialogue, but I still think they're interesting to consider when pondering upon Guizhong's capacity as a god. There's also the issue of the "Record of the Gallant- Dust", which features a woman who has some similarities to Guizhong (in Guili plains, emphasis on glaze lilies, line that contains the word dust which yes is a reach, the woman wielded a sword & Morax carved the Primordial Jade Cutter for a friend who is assumed to be Guizhong which implies that Guizhong used swords yes yes I'm reaching), which could imply that some part of Guizhong still exists beyond her death? Because she dissolved into dust when she died but dust is considered the first step to birth whatever there's a connection to life and death in there sorry I have the largest fascination with characters who we barely know anything about but have so much interesting lore associated with them (specifically Guizhong and Scaramouche my lovelies)
Also in regards to your first response oh totally agreed I think things like the Stove God are just such a weirdly specific thing when Guoba had a greater contribution to the preservation of the early Liyuen people than being a chef that it could only have been taken on as a quippy title for him

    Exactly what I thought

It would ge very fun if in the future we discovered that powerful characters, like Xiangling, Bennett and others were indeed closely related to the gods. We already know that the new character Candance is a literal descendant of a god and that for example Xingqiu is connected with an adeptus by the name Guhua, and Yanfei, Ganyu are daughters of other adeptus. In all honesty I think the adepti are gods within their own right, just subseriant ones, just like Yae is to Ei and Ei was to Makoto. Not to mention that the Traveler siblings might as well be gods in their own right, albeit, not aware of their true powers and origin.
