It's amazing how finicky Japanese maples can be. I received a 1-gal Gables Glory here in Utah, re-potted it, and it promptly lost all its leaves. Then it came back like a champ. Other cultivars have done similar routines, so I conclude that JMs are simultaneously wimpy and warriors. Hopefully my new collection adapts to the drier air of this region, survives the winter, and come back strong in the spring!
Beutiful information

I was looking at my Gables glory the other day and it definitely made a bit of a return, but I’m hoping for better next year
