    I love your Katsura maple!...I either want that one or coral bark maple. aside from the red bark on coral bark....is there any difference in growth habit and form? which do you prefer? I like a tree with an open branch structure...which would be easier to create that structure? Thanks !

    • @isaacsteinsgarden
      @isaacsteinsgarden 2 дня назад

      @@railfan100 I found that Katsura grows a lot quicker than sango kaku. Sango kaku leaves are vibrant yellow in fall where Katsura is a mixture of red, yellow and orange in fall. Sango kaku leafs out lime green than matures to a Kelly green for summer I noticed it also leafs out later than other maples so if u have a problem with late frost this may be a good thing. Katsura leaves out an orange red that slowly changes to yellow early spring than gradually changes to a Kelly Green for summer it is also one of the first Japanese maples to leaf out in late winter to early spring Katsura seems to want to grow in a vase like a shape if allowed, it may look a bit on the small shrub side where sango kaku wants to grow more on the tall and wide side as it mature slowly

    Hello! I just found your channel. You have the best garden channel! What a beautiful garden. You should see mine. I live in Southern Mississippi and it is over-taken with weeds! It is so embarrassing! I found your channel because I love Japanese maples and am hoping to start with two. I am in zone 8b. I want to find one to plant next to a brick wall on my house, it does not have windows so I want to soften it down as I am trying to make my house look more Victorian. The other one I would like is a small red or purple little guy weeping with those spidery leaves. I am planning to watch all of your videos! Your Japanese maples are just beautiful.

      @@RestorationDream there are over a thousand varieties I would say take your time and don’t rush in a cultivar there are some that grow quickly some that gross very slowly some with lovely red colors for summer through fall others, with red in spring, green in summer and colorful in fall. They all have their differences there are some with very unique leaf shapes visiting your local nurseries may provide a lot more options than a big box store

      @@johnfleming6866 are your maples young? Are they in ground or container? Usually first year or two when they’re putting in ground, the colors aren’t as intense. It takes some time when they’re in containers. There’s a stress factor that’s easy to achieve that’ll allows them to color up a lot better. Then there’s the weather factor. Does it get cold? How windy is it and how much rain do you receive? Those can affect the color because the leaves can drop before the color is mature. Another factor is fertilizer. If you fertilize too late in the year, you can also affect the trunk coloration on trees like coral bark maples it’ll make them stay a little on the green side

An activity i despised because it took precious free time away that i could have spent playing with toys. Years later i discovered the plants i was provided for a fish tank were just mondo grass and not aquatic plants at all. Not only had mondo grass wasted my time as a kid, it returned to waste my money when i got older.
